What did you think about the detail of face lathering?

i'm still having issues, i use proraso and bloom and the cream is thiCk but thins out on my face evry now and then. i love the cube from phoenix for preshave, a great bang for the buck and doesn't clog my AL13

I have found that putting or rubbing on cream to the brush tips. Sometimes it falls off or gets rubbed into the knot center. You showed what happens to me too. I get a better cream lather if I rub it on my face with my fingertips. Then do what you showed. Just a little less messy or that accidental.

Last Saturday my wife and I went to our local walmart and i got myself the van der hagen razor because it's what they have for razors and I wanted to try something different and so far it's been good I've only cut myself once and it was small on my upper lip

I own all three of the Tatara razors, they are fantastic! Especially their most recent release “Muramasa” which is an adjustable razor which provides BBS shaves with ease. Masamune is on the mild to medium aggressiveness and can accommodate Feather blades without irritation. The Nodachi is the most used razor in My collection and is quite aggressive, but melts through multiple days of coarse stubble with ease. I normally use this razor with Personna Blue Med Prep blades and would not even attempt Feather Blades in this razor

Absolutely sick razor! Might look into this! Love the theme with the samurai vibe and the nodachi! Like the nodachi sword, this one is longer than a standard version of a katana or razor in this case. Also, Masamune was a fabled legendary sword smith that eventually went crazy if i can remember, but his works were some the most sought after swords of all time. They eventually gathered them all up to destroy them because they thought that they had become possessed by masamune and bad things would happen. Supposedly, there's some that were hidden and are still floating around out there somewhere! Great overview! You got some great concepts of production, cinematography and B-roll! Good stuff! 😁👍🏻 I'm still debating on the Rockwell 6s or T2 stainless, this one also has my eye now! I keep going down these rabbit holes! Having ocd is pretty annoying! 😅

Nice video David; watching the video, I found the headshave portion so stress free, and appears the head shave is easier with this razor? The Tatara razor looks so well made, and I wish they would send the adjustable to you for a review😊. I have not yet acquired an adjustable razor because I am so deeply satisfied with the 3 piece razors I own (especially the rockwell 6S), but have an interest in the Tatara adjustable for the looks for now.

The head and face shave was definitely stress free. I would definitely like to use their adjustable razor. Contact them and let them know to send me one. If enough people do that they will definitely send me one.

I find it easier to lather up with less water than needed, so when you wet your face and lather up/relather it becomes the desired consistency
@OhioShaves
@OhioShaves Жыл бұрын
I can always add ton of water because I basically put it dry. Adding water makes the cream pop to a big lather.

I noticed you had the masamune plate on the razor so I’m assuming you had the masamune top cap on as well using the nodachi handle. Did you ever try the nodachi plate and top cap? The nodachi is scary efficient. The cool thing is that tatara enables the user to be able to mix and match so if the nodachi feels too aggressive the masamune top cap can be used with the nodachi base plate or any other combination you like. It changes the whole shave experience. I’ve been very pleased with mine. I use the masamune handle because I like the shorter handle.

This is not their mild razor, the regular masamune is. The nodachi is supposed to be their aggressive razor. The only way to make it more aggressive is to choose the nodachi open comb. How would you compare this the the rockwell 6s? Which plate does it resembles ?
@OhioShaves
@OhioShaves Жыл бұрын
This is the upgraded version of Masamune razor. It is there most popular mild razor. If you want more aggressive razor then you buy there open comb base plate.

I have over 300 video's. That should keep you busy for a while. With all the editing I do for one video, almost impossible for me. I would rather have one high quality video than just a couple mediocre videos, like most of the other wet shavers here on KZbin.

I'm sure I've heard you mention more than once that on the second pass, you go against the grain rather than across on the most sensitive area. For me that is the bottom of the neck nearest the collar. Does this work well? I've not heard other channels mention this technique.

Great video as always, I'm still working on my safety razor technique, but every little tip helps. Lathering is definitely something I'm working on as well as the whole trying to make sure the alum block doesn't cause me to want to scream thing. I am certainly curious on the different blade brands. Still figuring out if the RK's are any good (effectively free soo.. yeah) , and picked up some Nacet's because at some stage at least one person said they were awesome, haven't tried Persona's or Leaf's, (new to me hearing about them). Curious if blade maintenance is a thing or if people just switch sides, and not try to lap blades between shaves or passes or side switching. Feels strange doing knife sharpening/lapping maintenance and not razor blade maintenance and just chucking the blade after a few uses. Also, not gonna lie it does feel a bit odd watching someone else shave a couple times a week but its helping me figure out technique with the commentary. Thanks!
@OhioShaves
@OhioShaves Жыл бұрын
Some people use blades 3-4 times before switching it out. I like a fresh blade every time but I have enough blades to last my lifetime. I would buy a variety pack of blades from Amazon and try them all.

I don't know if you get any breakout but I still do with my Henson++ and some times with the 3 plate on the Rockwell 2C with and against the grain. Is there any possibility you can post a picture the day after you shaved? I got some real bad break out from shaving Saturday. It's just on my neck.

I still get some skin irritation if I press too hard, or don't prep my face proper. I only use blades that work for my skin and hair type. Have you found blades that done give you any irritation?

@@OhioShaves I use a minora blade at the moment. I have used parker and Rockwell blades. The minora shaves the best thus far and when I go against the grain with a 1 plate on the Rockwell I don't get a break out, but I want that baby smooth shave. The breakout is little when I use the 3 plate on the Rockwell against the grain but I want zero break out. Even when using my alum block the sting is minimal or none at all after using the 3 plate with and against the grain. My Henson++ on the other hand not so much. She burns quite a bit.

How long have you been using a safety razor? For me, Technique took me a couple of months. Learning how my beard grows and not going across the growth on my neck was a game changer for me. I shave my neck WTG and on the 2nd pass ATG and may a pick up pass only on my neck against the growth. Hope this helps. Keep us posted
@conradcoetzee7586
@conradcoetzee7586 Жыл бұрын
@@OhioShaves Only a couple months now. I do shave WTG 1st pass and the next pass is ATG. I try to keep the pressure as little as possible but with the Henson it still eats me up. I think I'll rather stick to the Rockwell and then use the 1 plate on my second pass. I'll let you know in the future if anything changes. Another thing I must mention is that I shave once a week. Do you think that might be a contributing factor to the irritation?
@OhioShaves
@OhioShaves Жыл бұрын
Yeah. I did pretty much the same thing by only shaving once a week so my videos actually show some hair on my face and the audible sounds from the razors are fantastic. I would try a simple solution like a Preshave soap or oil.
