Have a 14L in a 2007 Columbia has been been doing great. Pre emissions. Have done some work around it. Though I think is the problem of the set up from the previous owner. It has earned its place and glad to have it. Hoping to get some more good use out of it before have to work inside the engine like this.

ive been told that certain year detroits u cabt machine the head because the supposedly the machine shops are known for taking the arch out of the head snd u hav a high chance of blowing out the head gasket idk how true that is but it kinda makes sense why they always recommend buying a new head for detroit
@madgamer00012 жыл бұрын
That pitting on the liner is from the SCA drop out. Or just putting straight green coolant in there. It’s cheaper to put green coolant concentrate. As well as three pints of penn cool to keep cavitation from occurring. Some people don’t keep up with that penn cool conditioner or something similar of a different brand also is a factor. If you drive around bob tail like a show truck that doesn’t really matter about the conditioner. It only comes into play when the trucks working hard especially with being lugged.
@jonathantibbs265910 ай бұрын
Are you saying the liner pitting occurs more from lugging engine? Been wondering how many hours or miles is usual yo have liner pitting g failure.

@DJPereira20122 жыл бұрын
@@shonzyjay1221 you need to look at overall mechanical and cosmetic conditions. How does it run? Check wires, hoses, belts, fluids and so forth. Are there any codes? Are their maintaince records? How is the interior? Body? This truck I got years ago and accepted the flaws. Fixed the mechanical issues. Engine itself has been solid. When they are older with higher millage most likely there will be some issues all around. Thankfully I got my truck for much less than today's prices. So even though I have things to fix. Its costed less than what one would today.
@shonzyjay12212 жыл бұрын
To me the truck is flawless and it drives good. I took my trailer there and hooked it to it and it pulled well. I just needed someone who knows a-lot of trucks to have another look. If you have an email I can send it to you.

Erosion aka lack of proper coolant maintainer, the liner will flex during operation causing a phenomenon called cavation ( air bubbles) in the 90, we were far far ELC coolant but even ELC should be replaced 100,000 miles . now a good rebuilder will mic the crank, and receiver which is the part where the lower seals make the block and if they are auto spec they will have not only the top counter board they’ll have the lower receivers redone and you can guarantee nice tight fit and eliminate excessive walk of the liner.

We are having an issue with our 2013 D13 volvo. It will run for hours. The minute you stop and try to go again it jumps out of gear and says high clutch load on the dash. It won't go anywhere but tries to lurch forward. It's like you have no accelerator though. Volvo engineers have looked at it and can't figure it out. We are desperate

I know this is quite a bit later. I had this problem. The lever that changes gears inside the transmission had worn out. Comes from low air pressure. I had to replace the transmission. How much blow-by is acceptable it runs good does not use oil has 50 pounds of oil pressure 725000 mile
@edfalconi50222 жыл бұрын
All Series 60 have blow by to a certain extent. It's what they do. If it's not making a racket or smoke out the blow by tube it's not doing its thing. They just keep going and going. Best motor ever made in my opinion. I've have that same motor. Got 1.7. Out of it before rebuild. At 1800 rpm and up it turns into a sewing machine. Smooth as silk and whining just like one.

Erosion or Corrosion? Not the same thing. I believe you mean corrosion.
@jimrudolph1582 Жыл бұрын
It is erosion, now there is certainly both but the counterbore area under the liner and lower seal area are most definitely erosion, this can also be found on the head and injector cup. Proper coolant maintenance is a must to hinder cavitation.

I hate reman Or refurbish JUNK , If it's not NEW I do NOT want it , You are talking right they take an engine and get a bunch of junk whatever's gonna work and they put it in it and then paint it and you gotta refurbish reman engine for sale , Who the hades knows what they done to it , I've been doing it for decades let your engine warm up , There is a idiot on KZbin telling everybody not to let your engine warm up , it's gonna hurt your engine , This is what this idiot is telling everybody , For sure very good info and that's on any engine
