The real reason for the undead/robots rule is those units are ALWAYS able to contest/control objectives. So they should always be either pushing towards an opponents objective or sitting back holding a key objective in your territory. The enemy has to kill all of them, and that can require a significant investment of firepower/activations. Great battle report!
@tonyrigby60652 күн бұрын
Oh, and another thing I would be interested in seeing are asymmetrical missions parameters. Like, in this one it was clear after turn three who was going to win. But imagine if the defense force player was getting 3 points per objective held at the end of turn 4 whereas the hive player is scoring one point per objective throughout the game. They can still get the point any turn they take control of more objectives than their opponent, but that way the army's play style fits more thematically to their mission on the table. Hive advance and claim, Defense Force hold the line and resist.

I play a lot of OPR Grimdark Future, but I find the capture-objectives-to-win conditions to be boring. Thus, in my games, we play with attrition VPs as well. Players get VPs for destroying enemy forces. For each part of 100 points a unit is worth, it counts as 1 VP if it's destroyed (e.g., a 50-point unit = 1 VP; a 150-point unit = 2 VPs, etc.).

The vehicles and monsters are so expensive in points. This game works better at 3000 points as it allows a few expensive units as well as enough cheaper units to give more play options. I really love how those wild dead branches look! Really sells that old tangled forest look and I'm going to steal that for a project! Regarding the foliage falling off, I recently did a bunch and had the same thing. I think it's more the weight of the liquid soaking into the clumps that pull pieces that were just barely glued (or only held by friction) off the tree.

@ I had bad luck with spraying so I switched to droppers. I mixed up some scenic cement/alcohol the used a disposable pipette to apply to the foliage. @ Your sample size of one does not outweight the ever increasing sales and growth of GW. People seem to forget the hobby is far larger than simply the tabletop game. For those of us who were here in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th edition - the game was even worse, and GW had ZERO comms. Not only has GW survived, it has grown exponentially. Don't get me wrong, I share critiques of GW and the state of gameplay at times. I'm also happy for people who find OPR and enjoy it. I'm just reminding people that this hobby, and GWs part of it, are massive and not going anywhere. Many people have invested multiple years, (or decades) and thousands in £$£$. Not only that, the universe and the lore are outstanding, and with Amazon sinking their teeth into the media side, the hobby will only explode further. Nay-sayers are a vocal minority, and the internet is where they are most vocal and come in higher concentrations.

@owenthomas5103 lol. Facts hurt your feelings little man? You resort to an ad hominem attack that doesn't even make sense by the very definition of the word "simp". How old are you? 12? OPR is about as fun and exciting as watching paint dry. OPR is not going to topple anyone anytime soon. There is ZERO lore, ZERO media for OPR, 3d printing is a niche market so will again NEVER remotely make a dent in GWs overall profits. I have been playing 40k for 30 years. I have plenty to bitch about when it comes to their practices so I'm not even a simp (again it doesn't mean what you think it does but it's obvious you can't think for yourself and just parrot edgy words). For millions of people GW IS their hobby. For the miniatures; for the lore; and believe it or not for the game itself. When is the last time OPR had a tournament as large as LVO or the WCW? Are there even OPR tournaments? 🤣🤣 To misuse the word simp like you did: Why you simping for OPR? It's a boring ruleset with no motivational reason to play. Risk is more exciting than OPR and I can play with multiple other people simultaneously 🤣🤣

Yes, the title is click bait (as well as many KZbin videos) I watched the video, and nowhere in this video was anything mentioned, as you stated.
@fateweaver984410 күн бұрын
@ericdavis4964 It's called implication. You don't imply GW is cooked if you know the exact opposite is true. There is no proof ANYWHERE that GW is being hurt financially from competition in both the rules side of things and the model side of things so to imply that somehow OPR is going to "cook" GW is a desperate attempt at generating views. It's a great bait though. Make the claim and then spend several minutes going gaga over a box of plastic miniatures instead of explaining why those inferior in every way models are going to be the end of GW. GW haters forget GW is the Disney of the TTG world. Nobody is big enough to topple them. They will do it to themselves. And every quarter since they have existed as a company they keep generating profit even though there are dozens of clickbait headlines weekly trying to say GW is a dying company. 🤣 This weird longing by GW haters to see GW go under is insane (and I'm not referring to this video particularly) as if somehow people losing their jobs and millions of ttg players losing their entertainment is not a big deal. I think OPR is lame and boring AF. Same goes for a good majority of ttg's but I don't want to see those companies/owners go under and go bankrupt because it will negatively affect the people that enjoy those games. It's selfish to want an entertainment company to go bankrupt because you don't like the rules. Or the price of their product.
@ericdavis496410 күн бұрын
@@fateweaver9844 In the 40+ years that GW has been a company, there were a few times that GW has almost went out of business. The last time that this happened was approximately 10 years ago due to (at the time) bad leadership at GW. So yes, GW will be their own downfall due to bad business decisions and poor leadership at the company vs some external forces such as competition. As to the rules even if the GW was to somehow close their doors tomorrow, the rules would persist by the community at large. Both Blood Bowl (Living Rules) and WHFB (9th Age) are examples were GW at one point in time abandoned those games and the community took over and wrote rules to keep playing the games that the loved. This would only impact the millions of players for a short period of time as the community would take over and develop rules to replace GWs absence. As to the miniatures, people would find alternatives to GW produced miniatures to play in these community lead and developed rule sets. In regards to OPR rules or any other TTG rules, until a person has played those rules, the only reasonable judgement a person can make without playing of the actual rules is "I am not interested, they are not for me". GW is one company that produces both miniatures and rules, I personally like the fact that GW does have competition in the marketplace for both rules and miniatures, as competition typically drives companies to produce better products that benefit the costumer (hobbyist).

@ericdavis496410 күн бұрын
Games Workshop is currently the most popular for their niche within the wider realm of minature war gaming. GW has also been around for more than 40 years and started off as a distributor in the UK for other manufacturers RPGs. White Dwarf was focused on RPGs for many years before Citadel Minatures was created to make miniatures for the rapidly increasing RPG market. GWs past leadership has grown the company over the course of this time with several misteps along the way and at times GW being at risk of going out of business. How the current and future leadership handle the market will determine how long GW remains in the current #1 position. As to popularity, nothing lasts forever, and popularity fades. GW will not go out of business anytime soon and is at risk of losing overall market share to current and future competitors. A company can be highly profitable and still lose market share.
