It‘s not that he chose to stay that way. He just can‘t, because he was doing this for so long. It became part of his personality and that is something very difficult to change. He had to do this in order to survive. Showing any weaknesses could’ve been a death sentence for him or anyone he cares about. But that’s the funny thing about it. He doesn’t need to do this, but does it anyway and sometimes does even work to his or someone else’s benefit. I love this. 🤣

It's this kind of comedy that's great. Someone is serious in one sense, while the situation suggests otherwise. Like if a pizza delivery guy was dead serious on delivering the best that he inadvertently creates a one man pizza shop. Meanwhile his peers think he's trying to outperform them for a raise, or even to overtake the pizza place as the popular spot for pizza; but again, in reality, he's just got seriously high standards about pizza delivery and stands by them unflinchingly.

Considering the history of drug fronts and restaurants, this could make a pretty hilarious comedy of errors involving organized crime. The Plot is that the local mafia uses an out-of-the-way pizza joint to deliver their drugs to customers, hiding in plain sight because no one ever comes to their forgotten alley. Then, a competitor takes advantage of a recent closure and decides to open a different pizza shop, on the basis that, "Barely anyone comes over to that pizza shop, man! They may have deliveries once every week but that's about it!" And the opening is the low-level gang members watching because there's nothing better to do, the shop from across the street seems to have mostly normal staff... then they notice it: A guy with a frightening aura. He's got sunglasses, baseball cap, and baseball jacket, but there's no hiding the frightening, intimidating, one could say lethal aura he radiates simply by existing. The thugs get intimidated, then just by chance, the mysterious, intimidating man locks eyes with them. As if in understanding, he nods slowly, and the henchmen nervously nod back. The incident doesn't fade from their memories but it is business as usual. At least, for a month, it is. Same dude starts going out on deliveries, now changing to a cap and a jacket branded with the chain but the sunglasses stay. They notice he keep making deliveries all over the place, suspiciously to the same drug-ridden, crime-laden areas they've found. They ask the feelers and they say that this guy keeps doing deliveries all day, every day, oftentimes in the same buildings and apartment complexes as their "customers". And whenever trouble came to him, he either avoided it like a pro or quickly proved that nothing and NO ONE was going to stop his deliveries from getting on time--not even police, allegedly. The gang begins to try and investigate him, especially once they hear about them being proud of "pushing product", run-ins with the law with the owner complaining they're sniffing around, and an insistence on "winning" the war with the rival pizza chain, "crushing the competition", and of course, each and every time any of the henchmen catch sight of the "Deliveryman" as he's come to be known for lack of information, he gives that slow, unflinching nod, kills a piece of their soul, then he goes on his merry way to his bike to make his latest deliveries. Then the subject of every week is the gang getting into some sort of crisis with the restaurant, attempting war to no avail, trying to learn more about the Deliveryman, or getting into mundane situations with him as, despite their respective allegiances, Deliveryman has respect for his "fellow working men".

Im am avid fan of animation and it didnt register to me as a negative how they utilize the minimal amount of frames in this anime. They play it so well with the effects and the pacing, I actually think it works in the favor of the style of comedy. Stellar job imo.

It's because it matches the comedic timing perfectly. Sometimes that's how you have to animate, especially for a comedy. All the popular animated comedies do this. No matter what country it's from. Sometimes a more limited style of animation is what's needed to best accentuate a scene.
