Tattoo Artist Fuzi Does Ignorant Style | Tattoodo | office

Creator of the famed Ignorant Style tattoo style, Fuzi is also a street art legend. While he may have began his aesthetic expression using graffiti tags and murals as creative outlets, he soon turned to tattooing and pioneered an approach to ink that has now become a worldwide phenomenon. During the Office X Tattoodo tattoo flash event, he spoke about freedom of expression and why that’s so integral to the tattoo industry.
Although Ignorant Style may now be popular, in the video Fuzi talks about not feeling accepted or represented by traditional techniques and iconography within tattooing. Using comic books and graffiti as inspiration, Fuzi applied his creative fervor to breaking boundaries and embracing freedom. He mentioned that, in his opinion, the experience of getting a tattoo is just as important as the final piece itself. In the beginning, to create unforgettable memories for his friends, he would tattoo in abandoned subway tunnels, and on the rooftops of city buildings. And this hasn't changed, Fuzi continues to evolve his expression in new and exciting ways, painting walls as he goes.
For this short series celebrating the avant-garde, office magazine and Tattoodo came together for a pop-up tattoo flash event that celebrates a new wave of tattooing that focuses on modern aesthetics and unique perspectives. The collaborating tattooists involved in the pop tattoo flash event are creative innovators who represent the best of underground tattoo culture. Bringing diversity to the forefront, these tattoo artists have found a new visual language and a special approach to tattooing that resonates with many people.
