I like the phone interview - maybe add subtitles though because his voice was really distorted so a bit difficult to understand- and usually I can watch the lips but because it's on a phone it's not possible. Regardless more interviews would be cool ✨

I Think I've heard about this before, and in my understanding, they do not frame the skin, but somehow (not sure of the process) but get the tattoo transferred over on paper or canvas. Framing dead skin would be creepy. But the other way, I think is a nice way to remember someone you loved

This is so interesting! I didn't even know they could do this. It makes me feel like the guy who created this has some insecurities tho… I think it shows a lack of understanding that everything is temporary and just cause your tattoos were expensive doesn't mean they should live longer than you. Like the frame will also one day be gone. Nothing lasts forever and this just feels like a weird attempt at immortality.

How exactly do you "remove a tattoo" and give it to someone? Do they cut off the skin in that area and frame it? Oh my goodness..

exactly, it's kinda like a tummy tuck or the surgery where they remove excess skin after major weight loss.

I think it would be such a cool new different family heirloom. Wow this is/was a really interesting and thought provoking topic as well as interview. I really like your tattoos and how you model them off with mystique and revelation. I'm not sure if keeping a carved painting from the carcass of someone you once knew who was alive--is kosher, but then again maybe keeping a jar with the scent of someone you once knew, trapped, and only revealed on occasional nasal requests of unscrewing the jar and lifting ever so quickly, sniffing, and then shutting the lid back down fast in order to preserve the remaining molecules of smell might be considered weird too :)

I personally am going to get a replica of one of my dads tattoos (by his tattoo artist) to remember him by, especially once he's gone. I think if the tattooed person and the loved one are both cool with it, then do it (however, it is creepy to me to have a piece of someone's skin in a frame) but my tattoos are part of me, their my skin, ya know? I want to keep them after death, I'd prefer a loved one have a picture/painting/tattoo of my tattoo that they loved to remember me by rather than my actual skin

I actually really love the idea of saving tattoos from dead people. I want to have one of each of my parents tattoos, and I think it would be cool even if in a creepy way to save their tattoos and mine even if when I die they go to a museum. But I'm getting a tattoo with my dad and I think that would make a cool set. I can see the ick factor, but you wouldn't bury the paintings in house, right? Why let thousands of dollars worth of unique one of a kind art rot and decay just because the commissioner is dead now?

Hey Qcknd so I don't know if you've answered this question before, if u did sorry. So, I was wondering what your opinion on getting the same or similar tattoo as someone who has died in their memory. Is it still stealing because you didn't get their consent and the tattoo wasn't made for you? If so is that still true if you think that they would have been okay with it and you feel that this tattoo really honors them and represents who they were as a person? I'm just asking because I'm curious, thankfully no one I know has died or anything like that. I just wanted to know your opinion on this since this sort of thing kind of a grey area. Also just do you know I love your videos 😊

If the process actually involves peeling your skin off, then first it's creepy, and second, dead people are attracted to the place/places where their body or bodyparts are kept. So this could keep the dead person from going where she is supposed to go afterwards. This is not an opinion, I had an NDE and I'm actually aware of these things because I learned them from personal experience.

I'm torn on this. Part of me feels like art should be preserved and part of me feels like, no these tattoos are mine, no one can take them from me, and they should die with me. I dunno. Fascinating stuff though.

Hi! After researching tattoos, I came across your channel - I adore your sass, confidence, mindset, and style. I am a 32 old woman who is looking to get her first "large" tattoo (everything I have is the size of a quarter). My trouble is narrowing down my ideas. Do you have any advice on how to collate concepts into one solid piece? Also, a big issue I have is with the notion that the tattoo will look muddy or like a big blob from far away. From what I can tell, yours all seem very distinct, clear, bright and with great line quality. Have you ever been concerned with a tattoo looking too messing from a distance? Like I mentioned, this would be my first large tattoo (leg) and I'm worried about narrowing down my ideas-this will be a memorial piece and I just want to do my dad justice. Does this make sense? It does in my head. Your guidance would be appreciated. X Lemurian.Luz

There was a guy who set a world record for tattoos and his preserved skin is in......I think.....the Mutter Museum. Have to check on that. It's been done before. But for me, having someone's flayed skin in my house, even if it's a relative, is I have to agree....creepy. Although, people DO have their relatives ashes in an urn if they've been cremated....so it's not beyond being done. It depends on what a person would think is worse.......burned ashes and crushed bones, or flayed skin. Which would bring up another question....what if the person was burned and the relatives WANTED to do it, but couldn't. But that's a topic for another day.

I think there is a little bit about "possession" here if a partner wants to keep some of your skin it is like they want to own part of you (did they 'own' you in life, do you wish to be owned after death). But if you die prematurely, a parent may want to keep something in the same way they keep baby lock of hair like after your own life you 'go back to where you came from!' But I think the scenario you said about dying in active service, is seriously weird and highlights how creepy it is because there is a bit more violence there and distance. if someone died in a firefight, or in the army, a bit of their flesh being on display is tasteless do you want to keep my crazy mole? my eyeball? when is crazy not creepy?
@milothegriffin5567 жыл бұрын
I don't think I would mind having my tattoos donated to like a tattoo museum, if one existed, because in my mind, they're not just pictures on my skin, they're the story of my life drawn onto my skin, and even when I do pass away and no one remembers me personally, they would still be able to remember the people and beautiful art that drew me, and it just seems like it would be a shame to let these amazing artists go unforgotten, just because their canvas was a real life person who lived and breathed life into their creation and inevitably died. It would be like an amazing painting in the corner of an art museum that no body looked at got caught in a fire, and all that would be left were lifeless prints that could never compare to the original. I don't think I could ever give one of my tattoos to someone I knew though, because it would feel like an invasion of privacy, because my tattoos aren't just drawings, they're a piece of my soul turned outwards toward the world, and giving my tattoos to a museum or something would allow the world to give this artwork and piece of me a new meaning, one that I never would have been able to create myself, and with every person who saw it I would expand until I was no longer me, I would be just an embodiment of the world's creativity. If I were to give a tattoo to someone I knew then this piece of artwork would never reach it's full potential, it would be about me, and it shouldn't be. It should be about the small piece of world that this artist was able to create. So yeah, that's my opinion on the whole giving away your tattoos thing, and I think that a tattoo museum would be super cool.
@Alex.Rivers7 жыл бұрын
hey out of curiosity.. you said how you collected a few of your stencils. But how did you get some of your flash that you display? I want to collect some tattoo related things for creative displays in my bedroom. I have no idea how to go about this!

I think it's really creepy. I honestly think it would be less creepy in a museum setting, where it might be your whole body's skin(think like an animal-skin rug), or your whole body (in 3D, like in resin or something). With the flat option though, I think it would be interesting to see your tattoos, on your arm, let's say, in a flat plane, to see how they fit together and what it looks like laid out. I think it would be really cool if there was a service that, instead of cutting off your tattoos, was able to precicely replicate them as flat or 3D images. Like someone might keep a t-shirt of a loved one, they could keep a flash-like sheet of your tattoos, or a 3D model of your cardinal. OR if a company could take a 3D scan of your body and print clothing on with your tattoos in the correct places. So someone could wear a long sleeve tee with your tattoos on the sleeve, and your back piece and your shark tattoo, or maybe they could pick and choose their favorites. wow oops crazy long comment, haha.

I like the concept, maybe not the actual carrying out of it. It is kinda weird, although I'm not 'freaked out' or anything. I think nice photos or the stencil is plenty. It would be hard for someone to keep as well in the sense that if someone came over who didn't understand or didn't agree with it & get creeped out by this dead skin hanging on the wall. A museum would be cool though, like the death ones & such like.

I got a tattoo one month ago, my first, and I still haven't showed it to my mom. She hates tattoos, and I´m a little afraid to show her. Even though I am 18, and have control over my own body and stuff, I know she will be...idk a little disappointed in me. She saw my bellybutton piercing today, and I got that one 6 months ago... and she had a long speech about her beliefs and went on and on! How should I show it to her? should I hide it until she sees it? Help!

+Hedda Askheim I'm not sure what you should do, that is ultimately up to you. I just wanted to comment and say that when I first started getting pierced and tattooed my parents were very disappointed in me and threatened to stop helping me pay for school. After I got even more piercings and second tattoo, they were still very disappointed. As time went on I just kept getting more and eventually they realized that it really is my body and I'm just going to keep decorating it however I want. They have pretty much accepted that I will keep getting tattooed. I just got my 12th tattoo and I haven't shown it to my parents yet, but I know once they notice it, they'll be "bummed", but I think we've finally reached an understanding that this is something that means a lot to me and is really important, so they aren't as disappointed about it as they used to be. Mind you I got my first tattoo at 20 (and I'm 23 now). I try and expose them to as much about tattoos and the art of it as possible, so they can realize that it isn't as taboo and "gross" as they used to think it is. Just goes to show that adults can become more open-minded and accepting! :) I hope eventually your mom will accept that YOU personally haven't changed in any way by getting tattoos and piercings! Maybe even if she is upset about it in the beginning, she will eventually understand where you're coming from!!

I don't think I would ever want to be given a tattoo of someone. I personally hate those sentimental type items that are hard enough to get rid of as it is. I feel like if it's actually someone's skin it adds the whole hassle or it being like a biohazard or something. I don't know if that sounds harsh but I kind of think that leaving people with a lot of things when you die is kind of a burden obviously not easily preventable for people who die suddenly but still. That's one reason I'm trying to get rid of a lot of my stuff now and I'm only 20. Anyways I had a possible TTT question. It is about tattoos and weight gain. Id like to get tattooed but as I said I'm only 20 so odds are I'll be gaining weight at some point in my life. I know you've mentioned how you've gained weight and I wondered if it has any drastic effects on the tattoos?

I personally totally think it's creepy, however I must say that's it's kinda hard to compare tattoos to a shirt, even if someone actually does wear that shirt 50% of their lifetime. What nobody seems to mention (even in the comment section) is that tattoos are artwork done by an artist, so wouldn't it be kinda like having a 'normal' painting hanging on your wall or whatever? As I said I wouldn't do it myself, I'm just kinda trying to look at it from another perspective.
