That was a great demo on blow outs thanks. I just wanted to know, do you hold your machine at 90 degrees or do you lean it to one side. Also how many times can you go over same line without damaging the skin. Thanks 😊

Those are good questions! Holding my machine varies a little bit depending on the line and where it's positioned on the body or fake skin. So some lines would require me to hold it a bit differently. Over all when I am pulling a line I like to lean my machine a tad bit. I actually made a video on how I hold my tattooing machine right here kzbin.info/www/bejne/l5WvqXh5qtd6ndU I feel going over a line should be as minimal as possible and honestly I don't have an end all absolute answer, as this would come down to the capabilities of the artist and their level of expertise and experience. Typically when I pull lines I would want to be in and out without having to go back in and double or triple up. This would come down to how confident, comfortable, and skilled the tattooist is, upon more variable to consider. Some go in soft enough to get multiple passes on a line, some go in harder which are more prone to blowing out or damaging the skin.

Hmmm that’s a good question! I think it really all depends on many variables as well. What type of machine was the tattoo artist using , the needle configuration, the hand how soft or hard or heavy it is, what machine you’re using, the needles you are using. All of these little variables would play a part on how the skin is tattooed and affected. The skin can get stressed for MANY reasons so it’s rather hard to say upfront here, I wound have to see it to be able to actually say anything about the tattoo. First off I love watching your channel and I’ve learnt heaps :) I got some practice skin and I find it to be really thin 1mm making it hard for me to determine if I blow out. I thought you will need 1mm -2mm to do the deed. But having 1mm skin makes me feel like I’m blowing out? Please advise if I should go for thicker skin😊

I’m not certain what you mean by rake marks. Every line should or would look the same if we are putting the ink into the correct layer of the skin and picking similar needle configurations. May you elaborate for me on what you mean by rake marks?

@@DanielYuck When you look closely you will not see solid black line all filled. It will look like rake marks like scratch marks lines. This the issue I’m having. I cannot get it solid enough.

@@sendlocation8476 ahhhh ok ok so I think I’m on the same page. So the lines you are seeing are the needle configuration you are using. If you are using practice skin they will be apparent, however they are also apparent on skin as well. The difference between the fake skin and human skin is that when the ink is put into human skin the ink settles into the skin bolding out a tad bit more over the original tattoo like. This would typically blend the lines the needle configuration makes together making the needle configuration less apparent. Overall tho I’ve seen prestigious artist pull lines and the configuration shows up. That’s apart of the process and the cause of the rake marks are from the needle configuration itself and are essentially apart of the process. Again they do bold out making them hardly apparent but in fake skin it’ll show, especially at the end of the lines pulled we can see the needle configuration.

My issue is the location on the body along with needle depth and overworking the skin. I did a tattoo today on a volunteer and it was a simple three line triangle on his wrist. My lines were absolutely horrendous. Meanwhile on fake skin, I'm banging out portraits. The difference is, is that although the fake skin simulates skin texture, it doesn't simulate working on a round canvas like the volunteers wrist. These videos are definitely helpful but but I find fake skin to be rather irrelevant (not entirely) when compared to real skin. The depth of the dermis in particular areas has potential to change which is what happened to me. Initially my startup was great but half way through the line my depth was shy. Forcing me to go over the line again, causing the wrist to swell. Now iv overworked the skin. Even with the stencil, because the wrist is round, the lines I followed still came out relatively crooked/wonky. I'm in a position right now where I'm genuinely confused. I can't think of any other approach to solving this issue.

I've done all my tattoos no problem but when it comes to my hand I have trouble I did 777 on my hand the other two 7s are fine but when it comes to the third it's not taking the ink and the location is right below my left pinky and kinda goes to the fatty part of my hand where it curves before you get to the wrist

If I am correct I am using a 10-11RL. I can not remember exactly but I want to say that I was using either a 10-12 11RL. If I am looking to get bold lines I would use a 10-12-09 or 14 RS. Somewhere in this configuration range.

Where I live( Nova scotia, Canada), giving tattoos for money is now illegal UNLESS you pay for a blood pathogen course and pass the test. Yes, this means if I charge a friend 40$ for a tattoo, whether I'm in a shop or JUST AT HOME, I can get fined if I dont take this course. This started me down a weird thought rabbit hole. Blood pathogens are diseases and infections carried blood to blood. I know a lot of shops have a disclaimer before getting tattooed you sign that day " I do not knowingly have Hepatitis, AIDS or HIV" ( you should always treat ALL blood as if they are infected). I understand shops and artists want to reduce as much risk as possible, ESPECIALLY since autoclaves are expensive and there's no guarantee a splatter of blood MIGHT get somewhere on the machine. So 8 googled more about this. And then ai tried to Google "if a tattoo artist has HEP C or HIV, can they tattoo? Do they have to disclose it? Is it part of the blood pathogen course to pass a blood test? I understand that the artist isnt openly bleeding and us wearing protective gloves, whereas the client is getting their skin broken into and blood exposed. But, HEP C for example, can LIVE ON A SURFACE AND REMAIN VIRAL FIR 10 TO 14 DAYS. Meaning, if I have HEP C and cut my finger and wipe blood on the wall, that blood can infect someone else if they are actively bleeding and put their cut into that blood even 2 weeks later. So. If s tattoo artist has a blood paragon, do they have to disclose it? Should they be allowed to tattoo since there's a slightly higher risk? Would any of you here get a tattoo from someone that you know that lives with HIV? HEPC? or AIDS? Random rabbit hole thinking. And even when I googled this, I COUKD NOT FIND AN ANSER as a all that came up was " can I GET A TATTOO if I have HIV/HEP C/AUDS?" not CAN I TATTOO SOMEONE ELSE"

As long as it's only going on fake skin, it's okay for practice. The only thing is the more you use it, the duller it gets so your results will not be as good.

Ahhh that’s a good one! So if you’re tattooing a circle and the needle snags that can be caused because of various reasons. The way the needle penetrated the skin, the skin was not stretch enough, the technical application may have been incorrect for the specific tattooing task at hand. It’s hard to say as I can’t see you tattooing but in a nutshell these are some of the reasons I can think of as to why this would be happening.
