INVENT IT! We are in the year 2021! I am SHOCKED that this technology doesn't already exist! As a sci-fi fan and a bit of a futurist fan, I always imagined a future where glowing tattoos are a thing! Even animated tattoos and yes, tats that can be on or off! So, i would say, why don't YOU try to invent it!? You could become rich! Imagine if you do invent the first glowing tattoo technology! I'm sure it would be very sought after! If I were trying to invent glowing tatts, i would investigate TWO fields: (1) Bio-luminescence (things that glow in nature - figure out, how and why things glow in nature and try to replicate that or find an artificial way to duplicate it. (2) Consider lighting, like LED (perhaps implants or sub-dermal implants).... LED requires very low voltages to work, perhaps the LEDs for implants could be powered by the body itself?.... I'm no engineer but yeh... someone will invent it one day!

I have UV tears on both eyes that haven’t faded at all for 6 years and you can’t see it during the day and you have to look so close and at an angle to see even the scaring. Just saying.

Hey, i just wanted to say thank you, i'm really interested in blacklight tattoos since lots of people maybe not like my tattoos, and because i think theyre cool. I really found this informative, so thank you. I really want tattoos but i dont think i can show much often. i thought blacklight would maybe be good for this, but i didnt know they went away
@PennyBlackTattoo5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, sadly those inks just aren't quite what they seem. Your best bet remains choosing placement on the body that is easy to conceal. You -could- try white ink tattooing as well, but that also is fraught with potential disappointment.

All tattoos fade ... maybe there’s a good brand that has naturally uv .. and gets retouched over time like any tattoo
@Shawn.Shooter3 жыл бұрын
Yeah but he said couple of months, regular tattoos last longer, my brother has tattoos and oldest one is on his body for about 12 years and it is still not faded. Difference between years and couple of months!

Thanks dude, I’m thinking about getting my first tattoo and I thought glow-in-the-dark would be pretty cool so I thought I’d look into it to see if that was a thing, thanks for warning me about the potential dangerous and and keep it up mate😁

Thank you for this information. I want to get a tattoo of the glowing amulet shards that Death has lodged in his chest in Darksiders 2. I was thinking that a glowing tattoo would make it look more authentic and closer to the video game depiction. But after seeing your video, I think I’ll opt for a regular tattoo. The meaning behind my first tattoo is more important to me anyway. I might as well go for something safer, that looks better for longer.

I've had immortal uv inc in me for almost 11 to 12 years. (Green,orange,red yellow) the yellow made my ankle swell and heat up horribly had to take antibiotics to get rid of it. But my body doesnt take any kinda yellow very well at all. Green still looks like its brand new in blk light red is kinda dull but noticable and orange looks like a darker burnt orange. I'm white btw and there on parts of my body that dont get as much daily sun. I consider myself living a research study on the long term effects of the ink. Lol

I agree and also disagree, MOM’s has their Nuclear UV line and Bloodline also has one and they are both reputable, granted I would rather use World Famous or Eternal or even Radiant over MOM’s and bloodline for their normal line. The point about the FDA is moot as no tattoo inks are regulated by the FDA. And where I whole heartedly agree that using regular ink is going to get you the best results especially over time with proper care, using UV reactive pigments for enhancing effects can be pretty awesome (such as the center of a light saber or lightning)but still 98% being normal ink. I know this video is a few years old, but I am too lazy to look up when MOM’s and Bloodline started selling their UV ink.
@coryr.92343 жыл бұрын
But... there are reputable tattoo ink manufacturers that DO in fact manufacture uv inks. As far as "fda" approval, there is not a single tattoo ink that is FDA approved. It isnt just "uv" inks.

@coryr.92342 жыл бұрын
@@angelh5096 Not sure if this guy is a licensed tattoo artist or not, I dont really follow him, but traditionally we should know the history and facts behind our craft. That goes for the entirety of it, including facts about the inks we use. As an artist that occasionally uses UV reactive inks, I can certainly say that there is a huge stigma behind them. To say UV inks arent safe because they arent FDA approved just kind of irks me. As I mentioned in my original comment, no tattoo inks are approved by the FDA, and more than likely never will be be. There is also a significant difference between FDA cleared and FDA approved. I'll leave it up to the reader to research the difference. The truth is, most artists wont do UV tattoos for a couple major reasons. 1) They are extremely difficult to work with, some are very thin while others thick, you have to work under a UV/ Blacklight, and to simply put it.. UV tattoos dont last. The results differ person to person, but for the same reasons even the best tattoos fade or "go blurry" over a long period of time, effect UV inks more than other inks. i.e they disappear over time. More often than not UV tattoos require several touch ups or even complete rework. Which to be frank is a loss of time and money for an artist. 2) Although there ARE reputable manufacturers that make them, there isnt a whole lot. Kuro Sumi, Millinium Moms, and Bloodline are the three biggest off the top of my head. But you wont find them in the more popular lines like Dynamic or Eternal, which will deter a majority of artists, especially ones that only work with a single higher end brand.

I came here after watching the Blindspot Season 3 opener because I was genuinely curious what was possible. So, even though the inks suck at the moment, some of the idea reels I've seen have had genuinely cool results! I hope a company manages to formulate a decent ink sometime.
@PennyBlackTattoo5 жыл бұрын
Even the formulation of quality ink thats proven safe wont provide the level of luminosity shown in that clip. We're a long, long ways from internally-backlit-luminous tattooing with their own candlepower ratings. :) The possibilities, were such a fantastical thing created, are mind-boggling though.

Thank you for this video. My dumbass self sometimes tends to be impulsive and I don't even have one single tattoo on my body yet, but I find these kinds of tattoos *so* pretty since a really long time and I was wondering for so long if those are be even safe to get, but as impulsive as I can be sometimes and think "fuck it, why not?", I thought there's no way that these kinds of tattoos could be 100% safe, but then again I don't really have much knowledge. Thanks for being so honest. Your video was really informative!

Hey iv accualy found a martial glow powder that isn't radioactive and so far has done well in my skin I havnt used it on anyone else and iv had the first one for over 3 months its just a bunch of ha ha's as I'm not very good yet and its fairly bright bright when charged properly as of now no bad side effects and 8 did make this prison style with baby oil and the pigment powder I hope to be able to prove it is worth it l. Also I might note the UV tattoo I had on my arm is no longer there or atlest my light doesn't show it and iv had the glow in the dark ones on my legs longer at this point do the detireroation of the ink over time might have something to do with the sun though can update as I progress
