Thank you! :) You can actually leave it out and the recipe will still work. Just make sure to use fresh egg whites and clean the mixing bowl very well! Any little bit of grease will ruin the whites! :)

When I was a very young my mother used to get a Coffee Torte cake that was the greatest ever. It was made at a local bakery by a few little old ladies. The last time I had this cake was for my 10th birthday. I am 45 now and those old ladies are long gone. As far as I know that cake recipe died with them. I would love to find someone and pay quite well to have that Coffee Torte Cake one more time.

For the cake flour, you'll need an additional 2 tablespoons per cup. I used 3 cups flour, so you'll need an additional 6 tablespoons cake flour
