Taufik Hidayat - The Legendary Backhand Smash

Oh man I remember when I first saw these clips at about a decade ago, I didn't understand anything. Now that I play badminton I highly appreciate how quick Taufik switches to a backhand grip and the intention to follow through with a backhand smash. I switch to a backhand grip thinking if I should play a smash, a clear, or a drop which makes me late to do any of them. This guy just reflexively backhand smashes just as how you would reflexively defend a very fast forehand smash.

he went and prepare for the backhand even before opponent hit back the shuttle that why he can be so comfortable hitting those backhand smashes also his wrist bend very naturaly make the backhand hit like his forehand

Thanks for the compilation video. It just remind me how good Taufik Hidayat was. His backhand smash was something beautiful to see. Only he can pull off that powerful backhand. He is a unique player. That backhand smash is very unpredictable. That makes TH one of the greatest badminton player. Nobody can do backhand smash better than Taufik Hidayat himself. Even im still learning how to do that backhand smash like he did.

Padahal di interview nya Taufik cuma ditanya gimana pendapatnya pas dia ngga dapat BWF, dia bilang, that's not important to him. He never complained to BWF or to anybody abt LCW BWF. For him it's more important to have the gold medal than 3 silvers.. it's his opinion, so what. I don't understand why LCW and BWF were triggered and felt like they had to release some statement why LCW got the HoF..
