Nice review. My experience with the All Season matches your thoughts. It's a really comfortable mat (mine is long wide, I'm 6'3"/190cm) and very quiet. The All Season is great for half-year use and overkill for summer unless camping on snow, but it doesn't work for me below freezing temps. A couple of mornings with ice floating in the water bottles followed nights where I tossed and turned to avoid the cold coming through the mat. A few nights of backyard testing around 25F/-4C was uncomfortable after 3-4 hours. These tests alternated using a 15F and 5F bags, neither could stop the cold coming up from the ground and were perfectly warm on top, hence the rotisserie action for the night. I'm moving to an EC now for winter snow camping, simply trying to avoid packing more insulation mat layers with added weight and fussing around as I've done in the past. I generally sleep warm with minimal covers compared with most others I've camped with over 60 years, but YMMV (or I might be getting colder with age).

Nice review. Good to see how the mat deformed or not with a person laid on it. Decisions 🤔

I have the old Nemo Tensor regular but it developed leaking baffles. After contacting Nemo for a warranty claim under their lifetime warranty as advertised on the box and website I learned that Nemo's Lifetime warranty doesn't apply to UK customers. They say you have to go through the retailer. They may however contact the retailer on your behalf if things aren't going smoothly. Took me a month to get a resolution. Not good if you are on a through hike or trip.

Hi, thank you for your comment. I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Customer service is such an important part of any equipment purchase, both before and after the sale.

Thank you for that information👍 Will probably go with the Exped Ultra R5 instead if that’s the case.

Which would you recommend for Scotland highland mountaineering in winter?

I'd recommend going with the Extreme. The slight increase in weight is well worth it for the comfort and peace of mind, knowing you'll stay warm through the night. It's better to carry a few extra grams than to risk a cold, uncomfortable sleep!

wonder how it does compared to the S2S etherlight XT insulated mat, i mean i wouldnt mind trying one of those nemo tenser mats at some point.

They're incredibly impressive. In terms of specs, these mats are warmer and lighter than the S2S Etherlight XT. However, I can't speak to their comfort just yet.
