A quick follow up on our current situation regarding KZbin. Based on the view count of our most recent video, we think KZbin may not have sent it out to all of our Subscribers. That is pretty tricky KZbin. So a lot of you probably do not know that we were recently fully demonetized again. Shutting us off from any substantial revenue to support our channel and keep it running with great content. If you haven't checked out the video we posted yesterday on KZbin please do. Beretta Sr. and I go into everything, showing full Transparency (More than any Gun Channel ever!), as to our channel analytics, revenue, gross income, etc. You guys will be shocked! I bought a 605 about ten years ago , really liked it but gave it to my former wife , I replaced it with a ruger sp101 but never had any issues with the 605 as long as my former wife doesn't shoot me with it.

After about 500 rounds of .38 Special, and 300 rounds of .357, it is probably the best snubbie that I have ever owned. I am shooting regularly at 25 yards, and it is an excellent "trail gun" for those who are hiking public trails, where carrying a belt pistol would attract unwanted attention. It has become my EDC when clothing dictates That I can't hide my 1911 Commander. I particularly like the grips.. For shooters, EDC, CCW carriers, I would reccomend training from your holster, once a week. The Double action trigger improves after about 200 rounds. It took a quarter of that to find the break point. The single action action is awesome. I never expected accuracy at 25 yards with a snub nosed .357 revolver. It is not a Rugar Blackhawk, but, if you practice, it will meet all your self defense needs in the city or the trail. I hunt deer and wild hogs with a Blackhawk. It is a hunting revolver. This piece was made to save your life, when you really need it.

First of all, this is my favorite firearm review. Ever. You guys covered this gun completely and I loved how much range time you gave it! So much so that I bought a 605 based on this review. I added Hogue grips as the ribbed texture bit into my palms while shooting .357 and this has become my favorite CCW. ZERO issues with it. After some 200 rounds the trigger breakpoint has become muscle memory and the single action is as good as I’ve ever felt. Solid. Reliable. Super easy to carry. Thanks for the best review ever.

Just bought one. Never owned a revolver let alone shot a 357 round. It packs a punch and it digs into your hands however it’s incredibly accurate. I was surprised I was more accurate with it than I was with my Taurus G2C. Go figure. I’d be shooting more of the 38 special with this pistol because I find it more fun to shoot. Can’t beat this firearm for the price. Great pick up for anyone on the rope about purchasing.

Started CCW 25+ years ago with a Colt Commander 45 ACP. Also acquired a Springfield XD 357 SIG. Great guns, both that CCW'ed well for me. Acquired a "Lemon" 38 Special Taurus 85 blued steel bobbed hammer for cheap($75) from a friend due to serious poor function issues, cylinder not going into battery, binding after about 15 rounds, etc. A bit of research later, I "peened" the hand to slightly lengthen it, then lightly cut and polished the breech face for better clearance and reliable dirty functioning. The entire job took maybe two hours. The little revolver then easily put 200+ rounds down range without issue. If I do my part, it groups very tightly(under 3") in the center of a paper plate at 25 yards. No problem hitting that paper plate at 50 yards either! That little gun is now 20 years old and is my "Always" gun. I recently put Crimson Trace Laser grips on it, and the little Taurus has now graduated to "Primary" at all times, even when I carry my Glock 19. Yep, that is right, the Glock is back up to the Taurus 85. Why? Because with the little Taurus, I can center mass hits, much faster and more accurately than with any of my autos, or K/L frame 38/357 revolvers. Plus, the revolver will work reliably in a close contact ambush attack that may jam autos. For the rest of you guys who CCW, I urge you to carefully time and evaluate your carry guns to see which one REALLY is quickest and most accurate into action for you. The timer and target tell the truth, and that is why the Taurus 85 became primary for me.

Picked up one of these newer styled 605 a few years ago as my first revolver. I use it for summer pocket carry. Probably 500 rounds through it without a problem. I worried that it was a Taurus, but their revolvers are turning out to be reliable. It's not my nicest or favorite pistol, but it does it's job while being incredibly accurate and easy to shoot.

I have a 605 Taurus and a S&W 60. Both unfortunately are or are going back to the manufacturer to get fixed. My Taurus would not eject spent brass. Seems the spent brass would snap in if reinserted but if spun 180° if would ko go back in. Poorly machined cylinder. My S&W would open or close the cylinder/yoke assembly. It hangs up hard. The doing loaded rod inside the ejector is very stiff and when opening or shutting it forces the cylinder to contact the forcing cone. Not had good Snubby luck! Just wanted let you know I guess both can have problems. That said my Taurus 66 with well over 3400 rounds is beautiful and so is my S&W 629.

@@ewetho Well I know S&W's brand new have to get broken in. The cylinder lock up can be stiff at first and the cylinder release can be stiff but after a lot of opening, closing and getting it all oiled and flowing it all smoothens out. My 629 6.5" Classic is smooth as butter now but brand new it was as stiff as a cold dead body Lol.

@@BERETTA9mmUSA I got my 605 back from Taurus and they replaced the cylinder with a nickel plated one. Blingy! Shoots and ejects well and shot out to 25 yards today. So it seems happy and even carried it home giving the S&W 60 a break from the holster. 15 yards in fast shooting is just fine. And even with some time headshots!

@@ewetho I know this post it old. A pretty common problem on s&w revolvers is the ejection rod can start to loosen and if not caught can make it almost impossible to open cylinder. Grab the knurled part of the rod and turn counter clockwise while holding cylinder see if it is loose.

I have a 4” Taurus model 66 7-shot .357 mag that’s been great over the years. I trust Taurus’s revolvers even though a range I go to said they seen a lot of Taurus revolvers break or blow up on the line. You know how that is though, a lot could have been 2 lol. The only reason I don’t carry a revolver is the reload process isn’t as smooth and fast as a semi auto, unless you’re Jerry Miculek. Then there’s the capacity issue and we know goons come in multiples a lot of the times.

I wanted it bad but gave my brother first dibs and he bought it. Now I want one bad! I have an SP101 and like it a lot, but this 605 feels so much lighter to carry.

I had a Rossi 461 .357 Magnum 6 shot K-size framed snubnose revolver (also made by Taurus), which had a safety issue and was recalled by the company. I was informed that my original handgun was damaged and "unrepairable" (although I never abused it or dropped it) because Taurus no longer had the parts to make repairs to it. Taurus offered me a replacement revolver in the Taurus 605. I was not happy about losing one chamber in the cylinder, but there was no other choice offered except to take back my old "unsafe" revolver. I took the swap and received the 605 through my local FFL gun store. My chagrin has begun to turn regarding this new snubnose piece. It is a J-size frame, so it is more readily concealable than the recalled one. I've taken it to the range and gotten decent groups from it. At first, I was expecting terrible recoil from such a small revolver, but the factory grips handled the situation well within tolerance levels for it's size. It is not my EDC, but it could stand in quite easily if I can find some 5-round HK speedloaders for it. I don't like the straight strip type as shown in your video. Takes too long if I'm in the middle of trouble and need a quick reload. I've had no issues with the revolver. Nice video.

Great gun!! Taurus quality is just as good as any other high priced revolver and IMO shoot even smoother then my high dollar revolvers. Budget doesn't always mean lacking in quality. This 605 is one I don't have yet cus there's none for sale at this moment but once a batch comes out I will definitely be picking one up. My Taurus 605 spits lead back when I shoot 357 through it but not 38. I sent it back to the manufacture because I figured the timing was off. They sent it back and it’s still doing the same thing. I have a ruger sp101 coming in the mail now to replace it

My 850 poly 38 special with a 1-7/8 “ inch barrel will shred a soda can at 40-50 large paces. At 85 - 90 yards I can hit a gallon jug of water 4 times out of 5 . It cuts cloverleafs at 10-25 yards . I do have a lot of time in behind a revolver. It took a while to learn how to use a revolver. Much different than a pistol. But once it’s mastered it’s like riding a bike.

I have the new taurus 605 defender 357mag/38 3"barrel for 2022 two months old . At the range today man its sweet! It took different rounds and different makes . 357- 38- . The 357 was 110 grain. Grips could be a little longer for me. BUT THE TRUTH THE GUN SHOOTS EVERY THING SWEET 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿

Superb Review gentleman. Excellent option for EDC. Cant go wrong with a 125gr .357 magnum load. I own Taurus model 85. Little brother shall we say of the 605. M85 is .38 special + P rated. Great snubbie, loaded with Underwoods 125gr + P BHP ( gold dots) done Underwood way. Round count 700-800 0 stoppages. For $ 198 its a no brainer. 605 essentially the same weapon with a beefier frame and cylinder.

Got one for my backup and it makes a good gun for the woods as well. That being said if your into camping and fishing all that you can put different ammo in it what i carry in mine during the week is rem golden saber ..on the weekend adventures i load it with 2 cci shotshells for sneaky snakes and 2 357 mag hallow points for anything thats needs stopping fast. Kind a like a swiss army knife in a gun.

I like my 605 but I had to put a less aggressive grip on it to shot 357. It became much more enjoyable after that. Great review.

Most ammo companies base their stated velocities on a 4” or 6” barrel test gun, so I’d guess you’re getting about 150-200 fps less from your .357 rounds with a 2” barrel. Still, that’s a pretty significant increase over .38 +P. Excellent review, too. I have a couple of Taurus revolvers myself, and they are both really good guns.

Man oh man, changing times, right? I bought a 2-1/4" SP-101 new in 1999 for $369.00 at a big box store. Like a jack wagon I sold it about 8 to 10 years ago and now they're $500-$600.00 all day, every day. I've been looking at these Taurus's for some time now to repent for my foolishness of years gone by and losing that SP. Here's the thing though; damn near every used example of the 605 I've ever come across is loosened up beyond anything I'd ever consider usable. I'm thinking that while they're just one ounce shy of the SP in the same configuration, they definitely aren't nearly as durable as the SP where it counts; timing and lockup. Hey look, I could be all wet on this and frankly, I wish I were/hope I am because I'd like to spend $300.00 versus $600.00 but with a steady or even a somewhat steady diet of .357 magnums, I don't think that Taurus is going to hold up worth a crap. I guess we'll see and God knows, I'm curious. Thanks for the video gentlemen.

I've got about 500 rounds through my 856 and it still locks up tight and shoots straight. Barely a cylinder ring after all those rounds with the matte black finish.

Yes an excellent review thank you. I like the 158 grain Buffalo Bore 38 +P heavy in mine. It is an excellent close range shooter. It's nowhere near my Smith 686 preformance but like you said it's less than 1/2 the cost. I'm very pleased with mine also.

Hey Beretta's, Well... the "Gun-Snob" in me took a break and I ordered and received a Taurus 856 UL/Hammer-less! I couldn't resist with the Price Match at Buds, ultra cheap shipping and the Fall $35.00 Rebate from Taurus Direct! Ultimately Guys, I am quite surprised at the quality of this 6-shot 38 Special+P rated revolver and the only thing that I did was paint the front sight with red nail-polish so that it showed up a little better! Dimension ally it is pretty much a Colt Detective Special for holsters and uses HKS DS-A Speed-loaders! Haven't fired it yet , but know that it is going to work and with the exception of my FFL pointing to the "Made in Brazil" on the frame and saying "REALLY-Mike", I believe that I got so much more than the truck gun that I had expected!

With CRIMSON TRACE LASERGRIPS this gun can nail 25 yard targets easily especially single action. Don’t depend on the sights on these guns. Add a lasergrip. It makes a huge difference.
