This was SO helpful. I’ve been using 115 grain for training but I had no idea that 147 grain would be the G3C choice of ammo. Great video

This represents the finest test on the G3c I've ever seen. Never seen this type setup before and it really shows the pistols capability. I will definitely look for higher grain ammo next time I'm at the range with mine.

I'm considering buying a G3c, so I've been watching a lot of videos; this is very helpful. I've only ever bought 115 grain for the guns I have had, hadnt thought about guns liking different grains and it being that noticeable.

I recently purchased this firearm. I own multiple revolvers that are old but very much serviceable. I wanted to get something less expensive to see if this was for me. Right out of the box it fit my hand and felt great. I put 50 rounds through it not paying attention to the grain which was 115. My groupings were very similar to what this video shows. I really enjoyed shooting this firearm. It will be interesting to see how well heavier grains work next trip. This video is by far the most informative about something I would have never considered had I not stumbled upon this one. I am new to the 9mm world. By my first visit to the range, I may be hooked. Can't wait to get back to the range with the knowledge this video has provided.

Your remarks pretty much sums up my gun collection too: I own some really nice S&W revolvers and a nice Sig W German P series. So carrying any of those was out of the question! Then I stumbled (quite by accident) upon a Taurus G3C and bought it. Couldn’t pass up the price, $300, and it came with 3, 12 round mags. I’ve run 115 FMJ, 124 JHP, and 124 JHP +P’s through mine without any issues. Great carry gun so far!

This is one of the best videos I've seen for testing a firearm. I just recently bought a Taurus C3C so I've been watching plenty of videos. I think you made one of the most useful videos testing what ammo works best that you could get and how accurate the Taurus G3C can be.

Excellent demonstration. I'm old school and remember when the Ransom rest was *the* standard for firearms testing in the 1970s-'90s, especially with the NRA/American Rifleman reviews, and reviews by some of the better (and better funded) magazines. I see very few KZbin gun channel hosts doing credible testing for accuracy and grouping, mostly handholding with only a few using sandbags. I read some reviewers claiming they got better groups off sandbag rests, but given the human element there's no way of knowing whether they adjusted their holds mid-test to compensate for perceived loosening of groups, or off-center groups. The Ransom rest eliminates that human fudge factor from getting repeatable results. Back in the 1990s I was a workplace safety consultant and recommended the Ransom rest for safe testing by a small firearms manufacturer after an employee was injured while testing a firearm that blew apart while handholding the gun. I'm not sure whether they followed through, but the Ransom rest should be the industry standard for all firearms manufacturers.
@Ransomrest2 жыл бұрын
Hi Paralex Thank you so much for the comments and kind words, greatly appreciated. Yes you are correct in most all cases all manufacturers use the Ransom Rest as the standard. As far as reviewers saying they got better group by hand. This is entirely posable if they do not learn and or use the machine right. There are many people who inadvertently over tighten the gun in the grip insert in the Ransom Rest. Then say the gun doesn't group or I got better of hand. This is only because they over clamped the gun. This is easy to do when you are thinking accuracy you want things snug and rigid issue is the grip inserts are designed to be the durometer of the human hand. Just like if you push on your index trigger finger you will feel flesh and it will give some then muscle and bone. The grips are the same way as your hand it will give, and if you over tighten the gun, you can swell the grip then the gun won't settle and they get frustrated and move on to sandbag instead of reading our instruction manual or calling us up. Machine is easy to use but you do need to know it. Keep in mind the human hand grip is not that strong, honestly it is not. And keep in mind even girls shoot these guns. So if needed the Mil spec for the Ransom Rest is 19-inch LBs for steel frame and 14-to-15-inch LBS for polymers. when fighting the A,B,C knobs. Honestly extended fingers work very well to clamp. But that is when you learn the machine but if needed a Inch lb wrench can be the way to go if you want or can't figure it out because, as the Military calls it, be a Jar head and over clamp. In case you wanted that info but i can see you are a user and believer in the Rest, and we thank you for that support. Yes, it is true no firearm model goes into service for DOJ DHS or FBI without ransom Rest test. We are as the Military calls the industry standard, this is only due to Ransom Rest has been tried and true and as the Military say it is the only machine duplicatable to the end user. Thank you for using a Ransom Rest it is the safe way to test you are corect again.

Just what you want with a carry gun. And also shoot to point of aim. With factory sites. The 17 round factory magazines are beautiful. Great ergonomics. Can’t say enough fantastic little carry gun. I would be interested in seeing accuracy of defensive loads for this firearm. I own one and I prefer heavier loads for defense but would be interested in seeing what performs well in this. I have been looking at the Fort Scott TUI 9mm which is a solid spun copper projectile that has been claimed to have pinpoint accuracy. However, I have never seen anyone else do the battery of testing that you did in this video. Fort Scott TUI rounds are rather light, though, with some being only 80gr and nearly 1400 fps. In a defensive situation a person would not likely be 15 yards away engaging a target at that distance they would fire a shot and look for cover. Most defensive engagements would be under 10 yards and more than likely be under or at 5 to 7 yards which will significantly shrink the group size. Thanks for the video. I will seek out all 147 grain for training from now on to see if that increases my accuracy with this little critter. I thought it was me because my groups with 115gr and 124gr is garbage.

@Paul Clarke I actually wasn't thinking about the aspects of it in the Self Defense Role, but in the range/fun time poking holes in targets aspect. One needs good range time to keep their SHTF time in good order. Besides, few people do as well in live action as they do on the range.

@@hulado thanks for the tips. I practice dry firing all the time (I do check every time for empty chamber). One thing I've noticed compared to a p365 and shield plus is that my g3c trigger is a bit more harsh and the entire gun moves just from the inertia of the striker. I have to hold onto it like I'm choking out Reese witherspoon in a wet dream I order for it not to move at trigger strike, where as with a p365 or shield plus I don't have to be holding so tight. Maybe I'll have to go get a p365 haha. My 1911 has a 3 lb trigger and I don't have any issues with it at all.
