This is just a short video test at Gunsite Academy. Testing the Lipsey's Exclusive: Smith & Wesson Ultimate Carry J-frame, and why you should test your gun. Not all barrels are the same. Not all firearms like the same ammo.
How will this gun do? What ammo does this gun like? The world wants to know. We did not test all the ammo, but we did a fast test of various ammo. This was to give us a fast reasonable expectation of what that gun may do.
In this test, the conditions were not perfect. We had very high winds. This is the initial test, and zero at 15, 25, and 50 yards for demo and information only. In this video, we show the gun and ammo repeatability. We start with a range of ammo and go into some hand loads from Handloader Magazine/ Handloader TV.
Refer to the video for the best ammo and group for this gun. Stay tuned for more info and more testing.
Is it m, the gun, or the ammo? Have you ever shot at a soda can at 15 or 25 yards and say? I can't believe I missed that. Can your pistol even hold under 1.5" at 15 yards? If it can't, it may increase your chances of missing.
Accuracy matters. Sure, many guns can do an occasional 1" or sub 1" group, but can they do it in a repeatable way? Some firearms may have 3 or 4 rounds that group good once in a while but not all 8 rounds. And are they repeatable rounds? Again and again. What ammo does the gun like? Is it me, the weapon, or the ammo?
We are here to find out. We do not cherry-pick the rounds or groups. This is a real-world test with actual results in our videos. This is why you may miss that soda can. If you are not testing, you are guessing, as they say.
The first shots and groups are shown here. No special formula, no tricks out of the box stock gun, and ammo. Not all ammo or test were shown this time, but stay tuned for more comprehensive tests,
Ransom Rest test for repeatability. Many types of ammo are used to get an average baseline of grouping. Subscribe to the channel to get notifications. We will add more tests and videos soon.
We here at Ransom hope this video will encourage you to look at our Ransom Rest. This video will clearly show why Ransom Rest is the preferred test method.
Ransom Rest uses what it makes. So, when you buy a Ransom Rest, you will purchase it from shooters who support it.

I really wish you had posted a chart with the ammo results.

Where would you like us to post this chart at the beginning or the end? And question #2: what info would you like in the chart? Best group or ammo we used?

@Ransomrest if not an editing nightmare, the end would suffice. Load, ranges, and group sizes would be helpful in choosing ammo for this particular firearm. Hopefully, the demand for them is so high that S&W will begin to produce them regularly.

@@TheGunnyBadger03xx Thank you for your comment and hopefully you gave the video a thumbs up. so the good news is if you watch the video, it already has a chart with Ammo specs, group size and ammo load data for the handloads we used. These charts are at the end of the video. Also, If you watch the video, we try hard to mention what ammo for each group before we shoot it, and we tried to also call out ammo when we measured the group. Hope that helps. please like and follow us for more.

@@Ransomrest Embarrassingly enough, it appears I stopped the video a few seconds before you ended it and I now see the charts. I did watch the video and did remember seeing and hearing the info. Thank you for bringing the chart to my attention. Thumbs up for sure!

@@TheGunnyBadger03xx No problem, easy to miss and in perspective. I suppose we could have made it more visible or evident. We will continue to post chart data and do our best to improve the info given; we appreciate your input and value your comments. Please keep commenting. We appreciate it. And this improves our videos.

While group size is important, so too is the location of the group in relation to the aiming point. Your testing seemed to be quite haphazard with respect to the latter: targets were all over the place, and no record was kept of where the ammunition grouped relative to point of aim.

Thank you for your comment. May note we keep a record of POI vs. POA. I don't think most of that info is relevant to you. Like all guns and ammo, you must do this test yourself. Each barrel is different; your weapon may not like the same ammo. POI will be different for you, as your rifling may start or stop in different spots, and your sight location is different. Therefore, your gun will absolutely test differently. This video shows why you need a Ransom Rest, how to use a Ransom Rest, and what you may reasonably expect out of your gun off-hand. We don't sell or specialize in videos. We are the original American Rifle and Pistol Rest company. We are the ones who invented and designed the tri-leg Rifle benchrest Rifle Master and the handgun testing machine. This video is to encourage you to get a Ransom Rest. The right and only way to test.
