Taurus G3C.. Is it still the best budget 9MM?

Thanks for your post. I'm carrying my Taurus G3C today and have been carrying G-Series pistols since 2015. They have never let me down. I also carry S&W M&P pistols, Ruger Pistols, FN Herstal firearms, Colt and Bersa handguns.

I’ve had a G2C first, then sold it bought a Shield. Missed my Taurus. Sold the shield , bought a G3c $275 with a $25 mail in rebate. Great handgun no matter the price. Also bought a TX22 by Taurus. Another winner.

Yes. I do own a G2c got back in 2018 for around the $200 or $225 mark and over 600 rounds of all kinds of ammo later its still flawless. Yes. I would and do carry it from time to time.

Got mine for $300 but it also came with the lazar light. But for the money it is just as nice/functional as my old S&W M&P, Sig P320&365, and Springfield Mod 2!

What you are calling a spongy trigger is actually an intentional design Taurus calls a 2 stage trigger. Taurus has video up on KZbin that fully explains the trigger and it's designed purpose.

I got one on sale for about $250 before taxes and it had a $25 mail I'm rebate. So effectively, this is a great value. I haven't taken it to the range yet, but I can't wait to see how it does. I may consider doing the TORO conversion kit when it becomes available again from Taurus so that I can fit some optics on it.

The price went up 30 bucks where I bought mine. That said, palmetto state armory has them on sale now for $225. After rebate that’s $200. Best deal I’ve seen anywhere.

I like the gun but 2 things I don’t like: 1. Muzzle flip but expected from compact size. 2. The slide release is tough. Other than that, it ran through the ammo I put through it.

Add a G3 Toro to your collection. Put a cheap red dot on it. More fun, bigger grip, higher capacity. I own both. You can own both guns for the cost of a high end Glock!

Trigger pull and reset are one of a few features that are overrated, can't find one single case where they made a difference in a defensive situation. Trigger reset doesn't help with accuracy only follow up shots. Another over rated feature needing a rear site design so you can use it on your belt or pants pocket to chamber a round. Reliability and accuracy everything else is secondary. Have own Taurus firearms since the mid 1980's and their revolvers were crude at best, although they have come a long way since then they still have control and customer service issues. Would I buy one? Yes especially if I had to choose between a Taurus or Hi-Point.

At the time of the video roughly 500. It’s at about 1100 rounds now and still no troubles with the gun. Solid buy.

The trigger is the way it is because of the reset capability.Fire enough rounds through it and you'll get used to it.I have all of the G3 Series pistols and they all work well.It's a working gun.Put some rubber Talon grips on it and you'll be set.

I have a good collection of pistols, rifles and shotguns, mostly high end. My senior dad wants a pistol. I know He will not be shooting or training like he should. I’m wondering if this be a good fit for him? I don’t want to get him a really 500-700 gun if he’s not going to really train. I’m not sure if I should even get him a cheaper one for those same reasons.

So I will say that in the beginning the slide was kind of stiff to rack depending on how much strength your dad has that maybe a problem. If it were me I would go more for the M&P EZ in 9mm. It’s perfect for older people with it’s easy to rack slide ( Hence the EZ in the name). The magazine is also easier to load as it comes with a finger rest which you can use to depress the follower making it easier to load the rounds in. I was able to find it on GunBroker for around $450. A bit more expensive than the Taurus but it is a fantastic gun. Hope that helps

You must admit, it's one of the better glock clones but doesn't come near the actual glock.

In terms of quality the Glock has it beat. But in terms of usability and practicality the Taurus is right there with it. I own 2 taurus pistols and 4 Glocks. I’ll always choose to carry the Glock over the Taurus but if I only had $300 I wouldn’t hesitate to carry the Taurus G3 line.
