I have the PT111 G2 and bought it about 5 years ago. I think that was the gun that turned them around. They has issues with the trigger on the previous generation but fixed it on the pt111 G2. I have never had a real issue with it other them with steel ammo. And that was like 3 times in 100 rounds. Shoots brass and aluminum perfectly.

Reviews keep bring up old issues with Taurus. I’ve had issues with several brands from time to time. Overall Taurus makes a decent product. The G3, G3c, and TX22 are some of my current favorites.

Hickok is amazing. Remember, this guy has big paws, and I mean big. For him to figure out exactly how to wrap them around a small grip and shoot with the precision that he does is just incredible. Hickok45 truly makes shooting an art.

Man, when Sig came out with the P365 it made all of the other players kick it in gear. Lots of generous capacity micro 9's out there now. But it's gonna be hard to beat the Taurus price tag.

I'm fairly new to gun ownership, with the Taurus TX22 and G3C. The recoil on G3C is affecting my accuracy (dead accurate on the TX22). I need more practice, but ammo is so expensive! Even my big ol Rock Island VR80 semi-auto 12guage is easier to shoot than the G3C. From your experience, is the recoil on the GX4 more than the G3C, being even more compact? Also, does it have the feeding issue with full clip of hollowpoint ammo that my G3c has. Spring very tight, carry only 9-10 rounds, and keep one chambered with safety on, so no chance of jam in an emergency. No feeding issues with subsequent rounds, only the first. No issues with FMJ, only hollowpoint. Considering the GX4 for concealed carry, G3C with laser/LED added is fine but bulky to conceal. Thanks for the reply.

@@jeladsnikpoh1289 It’s probably not the recoil on the G3C imo, it’s that long trigger take up that effects my accuracy. I switched out my tigger and reduced the take up by 50%, now I’m as accurate with my Taurus as any other pistol I own. Could be the issue.

Bought one and already put 500 rds of all kinds of ammo though this gun. The Best Micro I have shot and owned. (This is my first Taurus). I love the trigger for EDC, just what I was looking for in a improvement from my other Micro's. Love the way Taurus did the Grip and especially for the off hand. Like the way they made this gun flush rather than the Bulky Take down like my Sig. (shoots much better as well). Nice quality Mec magazine. Solid steel chassis. Glock Compatible sights. (I put a Night Fusion on mine. What I see in this gun is Taurus took on all comers in this competitive market, took the best of all of them and put into this gun. And man did they do it right. Bravo Taurus.

Got mine just the other day!! Ran some 115 ball through it and it worked flawlessly!! 2 things for me & my gun - With proper sight picture, slow fire it shoots about 4-5" LOW - 2nd...I put 5 rounds of 115 CRITICAL DEFENSE in a mag and tried to chamber a round....ALL 5 rounds would NOT chamber with multiple tries!! FYI, I'm pushing 70 and have been around guns ALL my life including in the the US ARMY so I just didn't fall off of the ammo truck!! I've had CCP since the mid-1970s - This gun will now be my EDC with 115 ball in it...for better or worse - Hickock...PLEASE keep up the GREAT work you do!!!!!!!!

Two years later, I bought mine. 11-2023 and so far, I love it. Right out of the box the first thing I noticed was how accurate it was. Or how accurate I could shoot it anyway. 0 malfunctions so far and really don't expect any. It just works with anything and everything I've ran through it. Factory loads, my reloads, aluminum, steel cases, it doesn't care, works with anything I've fed it so far. Maybe it would serve better to talk about what Taurus is now, and not so much about what it was in the past. I also bought an old G2C and have had the same luck with it. So, for whatever Taurus in the past, they seem to be as good or better than any now.

For the price difference of like 70 bucks would you say the g2c is close enough or just go with the optic cut gx4 for another 100?

@@codyparker4742 I've got both a Gx4 and two used G2C's and I like them all. The only problem I've ever had with either was ammo related and not due to any fault of the guns. I got ahold of some ammo that didn't have the bullets seated quite deep enough and it would hold the slide just enough out of battery as to get light primer strikes. If you should experience this, look at the ammo that failed to fire and see if it has even the slightest rifling marks on the bullets. It could be that the chambers are cut slightly shorter than some other brands. I don't know, but bumping the bullets down just slightly completely cured the problem. Overall length is not always correct if you're not using the exact bullet called for, albeit the same weight bullet, they are not all shaped the same. Some need to be seated slightly deeper than what the specks call for.

My best friend has a g3c great little gun he’s run 1000 rounds through at least no issues, but as soon as he said “ya know I’ve got some trijicon night sights I bought for my Glock at home I’m gonna put them on this instead” 3 shots later the rear sight post worked itself loose and flew off 😂 but hey he had trijicons at home and they’ve stayed in there tight 😂 NOT a knock at Taurus just a funny story!

I just got one of these (my Glock 19 was way to big to carry concealed)... this thing feels great in the hand, has extremely controllable recoil, shoots accurately, is easy to conceal, holds 12 rounds, is easy to disassemble, and only cost me $379. If not for the slightly heavier than I prefer trigger pull, it would be PERFECT! Hey, I wouldn't exactly call Hickok a big Taurus fan, but you can tell he really liked this gun too, and he's shot just about everything at every price range.

I have the GX4 and I teamed it with a Veridian E series green laser and wow does it hit ! 20 yards banging steel is not a problem ! I chose the custom fit laser over a red dot because of the small size of this pistol ! It's a great little gun and I have a Hellcat and a P365 too !

Just picked one up yesterday after your review, it's amazingly similar to a p-365 besides it doesn't have the x-ray sights. But for the price, can't beat it. Taurus has an Ameriglo front sight on their site for $30.

I absolutely love this gun!! Just got back from shooting 244 rounds in the rain and this gun ran 100% perfect and shoots dead center with the factory sights. The grip never slipped out of my hand on any of the shots, had some slipping of my support hand fingers off my main grip but thats to be expected in the rain. I ran 3 different brands of 115grn bullets and 11rnds of 115grn hollow points. I think this GX4 out shoots my G3C and G2C by far.

Beautifully designed. The full length rails add to accuracy and durability. The added polymer reinforcements under the barrel on the frame is great to see. The stainless parts will reduce friction for a smoother function. Easy to clean. Dual captured spring on a metal guide rod, accepts glock sights, shoots straight. I wonder when the red dot version will come out with a pic rail.

What pistol has a picattiny rail? All of the modern pistols have adapters for micro red dots and on occasion someone makes a picattiny rail adapter for a pistol, but its certainly not standard....

@@jackchurchill3777 its definitely standard. Most modern pistols without propritary rails have a standard 1911 1913 pic rail on them. Weaver and 1913 are even interchangeable mounts now. Catch up grasshopper.

It’s a conceal carry gun not a race gun. That makes the trigger irrelevant to me. This gun along with the other micros aren’t meant to get into a battle with. From 3 yards if u have to draw n shoot ur not gonna notice what the trigger even feels like

I agree. I had rather have a weapon that is a little harder to accidentally discharge for a concealed carry pistol. For most people in a stressful situation they will not remember what the trigger pull felt like... if they even remember pulling the trigger.

Now is it nice to have a great feeling trigger at the range.....yes but these aren’t range guns. Just a pet peave of mine when people talk about the triggers of guns like this lol. I say the same thing about sights on these guns. They’re almost useless

I've been saying essentially the same thing on other reviews of this gun. For all the optics RDS guys...why? Effective range with adrenaline factored in is about 10 feet. Plus, on a CCW it's like lane assist on cars, unnecessary. Also Rails? Why? More stuff to snag or print? That's what my full size or compacts are for. Lastly. The trigger does break at about 5.5 to 6 lbs. That makes me feel more secure given this is pocket or IWB carry

I agree. On subcompacts I’m more concerned if it’s thin enough to not be noticed in my pocket than the trigger pull. Even the heavy trigger on a SCCY I have isn’t an issue when shooting a few yards from the target.

It is a quality pistol. I think it is every bit as good as the Sig, and I like the fact that it has the trigger safety. I put some upgraded night sights on mine, and it has been a very comfortable carry pistol in the pocket or inside the waste band. Definitely an easy gun to carry on a daily basis.

I've seen him hit them with a Hi-Point 9mm pistol and they are pretty cheaply made. Someone who trains regularly and knows how to shoot really well, knows how to adjust for jankiness of sights and wonky tolerances that make a firearm fairly inaccurate. That is not saying that they will be able to make the worst of manufactured firearms look good but they can make mediocre firearms look very impressive.

I absolutely love my Taurus tx22! It's one of my favorites in my safe. Taurus is on 🔥 these past few years! Thanks y'all 🤙🏼🇺🇸 my buddy runs a g3 the last 2 years & also trusts his life everyday with it. But my EDC is a G43x with 15+1 rounds. I'm watching 9 months later

Taurus really turned themselves around as a company when they brought out the PT-1911. They made a really good gun at a great price that was dependable, which wasn't something they were known for at the time, and they sold a ton of them and learned their lesson. They stopped making so many different models and variations and actually concentrated on things a little better and their quality really went up...

Bought the GX4 last spring for about $300, I've fired about 2000 rounds through it and it's my go-to EDC. Very, very few jams, and most of those were me limp-wristing off-hand. Spent a few bucks on the extended mag plates, more for the ergonomics than the extra 2 rounds (though it doesn't hurt). Bought the CCW holster from Taurus and it fits perfectly. I'm a Lefty and it only took about 5 minutes to swap out the mag release button. . Yeah, I like this gun.

I've been carrying Tuarus as for a EDC for 5 yrs now and I've had zero malfunctions with it and I've run a ton of different ammo. I wish the gx4 had the light mount like the G2 and G3. I like my olight

I really like my Sig P938, it shoots so well and carries so easily. I also have a Sig 365XL that feels so good in my hand and easy to shoot well. A while back I bought a Taurus TX22 for economical shooting/plinking. It's a fabulous shooter. I guess eventually I'll talk myself into a GX4.

Ive had most of the brands: Ruger, H&K, CZ, Kahr, FN.....and a tiny Taurus TCP 380. LOVE the Taurus; not a singe issue, long trigger but, very predictable. Great pocket gun and very accurate. Just buy the one YOU shoot well and will carry. Many good brands out there, Taurus is one of them.

I have owned many concealed carry pistols, most of which where lost in a recent boating accident. Glock, 42, 43, 19.....Sig P365, P365XL, P320 XCarry and a Smith and Wesson Shield. The GX4 is really a serious pistol IMO, the ergonomics are great, it shoots fantastic.Trigger is a little heavy but clean. My only issues are I dont quite like the takedown, but that is a petty complaint, The 11 round mag baseplates will slightly budge when loaded. But the 13 rounders will not, they are Mecgar but the baseplate (on the 11 rounders) is where they cut a corner..........I would highly recommend this pistol for the price.

I have a GX4 with a Holosun optic for CC with an OWB holster. During warm weather a carry a GX4 w/o an optic as a pocket carry. These are great pistols for the price. Accurate, dependable and easy on recoil for a small pistol.

I just bought this as a first gun. Not the first gun I’ve ever shot been to the range plenty in my life with my parents but the first gun I’ve owned under my name and im very happy with it. Feels perfect for what I needed. Very versatile and feels good for me even being a left handed shooter. It’s very hard for me to find a handgun that feels natural with my left hand grip most the time. I’d highly recommend even for left handed shooters

I have the Taurus PT145, which I really love. Many people claimed that the pistol was a piece of crap, for me it was and still is a reliable weapon. Purchased the the G2 and the G3C, love them. The gun stores near me cannot keep the GX4 in stock, I believe that this pistol will replace my PT145 as my everyday carry. Big ups to Hickok for doing this review.

Just a reminder that we have absolutely zero sponsorship from any gun makers, which is the way it will always be. I had issues with my new GX4, but I am doing to attribute the jams, misfeeds to limp wristing. However, I have been practicing loading and my aim better as well as grip so when I go the range next Monday, I will be ready. If I have any issues after all that, I will be worried I have a lemon. I have confidence it was user error.
