A man is sitting at home alone when he hears a knock at the front door. He opens it to find two sheriff’s deputies there. He asks if there is a problem. One of the deputies asks if he is married. The man replies, “Yes, I am.” The deputy then asks if he could see a picture of the man’s wife. The guy says, “Sure…” and gets a photo to show them. The deputy says, “I’m sorry, sir. But it looks like your wife’s been hit by a truck.” The guy replies, “I know, but she has a great personality and is an excellent cook.”

The only Taurus product I've ever owned was a M-85 2" snubbie in .38 Spl many years ago. I found it to be of very good quality, nice trigger in both SA/DA and a decent finish. I do regret trading it off. As to the plastic grips on the Deputy, I purchased a third gen Colt SAA that came with plastic grips and I paid a lot more than $500 for it. Single action revolver were always discount priced for 40-50 years until about 10-15 years ago, the companies decided to sell them at premium prices. I remember getting a ruger blackhawk 30 years ago for S280 new...the ruger p89 which was a discount pistol was on the counter for the same price. They're not hand fitted. They used to be rifle accurate and i have yet to find a new one that is even half as accurate as the old ones, yet they cost over 2x what they used to...and people keep buying them...🙄
@bmphil34002 ай бұрын
$280 ...30 years ago IS $600 now...... inflation.
@curly__32 ай бұрын
@@bmphil3400 wrong. That isn't how it works. Tell me why ruger still sells discount firearms for S280. These new firearms are far more complex than single action revolvers. @bmphil34002 ай бұрын
@@curly__3 almost all revolvers are expensive compared to polymer automatics. I imagine some of it is demand. Demand can work for you or against you. Look at Glock 22s now. .40 has been abandoned by the police so used .40 glocks are $279 now. New 9mm glocks are between $499 and $599. Revolvers take many more machining processes to produce for lower capacity and higher weight. Material, finishes and heat treat are more difficult. As tooling has moved toward polymer autos, revolvers demand a premium because it's like a boutique item now.....
@tommygunmang22612 ай бұрын
You can blame the retards that watch Yellowstone for the outrageous price raise in cowboy guns for that
@curly__32 ай бұрын
@@bmphil3400 ... All of the ruger revolvers are cast steel. They cast them in house. They are not machined in the classic sense other than some finishing. Pull a single action revolver apart, they are one of the simplest guns made next to a single shot shotgun. They are extemely cheap to make. Taurus sells a dozen different double action revolvers for far cheaper than this single action. Double action revolvers are far, far more complex yet they sell 4 or 5 models that are good quality for well under S400 retail. I actually know what i'm talking about here... Boutique item? Is that why they make so many of them and aell so many of them? You do understand that the single action Ruger wrangler is ruger's best selling gun and that heritage rough rider single actions outsell all other handguns combined?

So basically they started making the gaucho model again? Anybody around in the early 2000’s knows taurus made this exact revolver they just called it the taurus “gaucho”. I had several and they were decent guns. I thought they were even better than uberti’s at the time. The gaucho was made in brazil and everyone just couldn’t have a single action “made in brazil” so they didn’t sell well. I see this says taurus mfg Georgia on the frame. The nickel gaucho’s were very nice and you could find them for $300-350 at shows on occasion.

I have a Great Western Arms single action pistol that has no safety or transfer bar to carry it with six chambered. When I got it handed down to me it was altered to fire by fanning for quick draw exhibition shooting. When cocked it only had three clicks and had a very light trigger. A pistol smith from Yorktown Texas replaced the parts the trigger needed to have four clicks and could no longer be "fanned". It's a 22 long rifle pistol but the same size of the large calibers made the original owner was in a quick draw club in California for all I know he may have just shot blanks I seldom ever shoot it I still have the holster and misplaced the belt that came with it. Taurus makes a pretty good pistol I have a Tracker in 22 Magnum nine shot I carry a lot also had a Beretta .40 caliber look alike that shot good but I traded it for the real thing a Beretta 96 FS Inox. That finish looks like black chrome kind of like CZ does on some of their shotguns.

I would like to acquire a single action revolver, but these websites are just so inconvenient to use. I wish I could just look at one at a store and tell somebody what it is I'm looking for. The important thing to me is the accuracy to the original action; safety position on the hammer (first click,) no weird transfer bar, retractible firing pin, or otherwise, and preferably leaf springs throughout. From what I understand, Uberti changed their hammers and have been making their guns less like an original Colt. I wouldn't mind an old model Pietta, but all the ones on Gunbroker use the same picture, and I don't want to pay and order something without holding it first. And between the shipping and the FFL stuff, that's another hundred dollars on top of the six or seven hundred dollars. I picked out an 1899 Colt .38 double action at an antique store not too long ago, a genuine Colt firearm, for less money than one of those Italian single actions. A cowboy gun would be cool to have, but I really care about authenticity a whole lot more than functionality. My carbureted cars have carburetors, if they came with points, I keep them with points. I don't want a twelve volt system on my 1940 Ford, and I don't want any weird modern "improvements" on an 1873 pattern revolver. Maybe I'm technologically inept, but these sites are just really tricky.
