Just picked up the Taurus PT1911 a couple weeks back and took it shooting yesterday. I wasn't worried about grouping I just was sending rounds downrange to break it in. Shot only a hundred rounds and the only failure I had I think was my fault.

I had 2 Taurus guns back in the early 90s, a PT92 9mm witch was the same used for the Brazilian Police and a 357 Revolver, both fantastic, never failed. What I noticed the finish quality of the product dropped from those days to today days, the PT92 side by side with was a challenge for the Beretta 92, the 357 was solid like a Ruger in a high quality finish, like i said amazing guns but eye wise the new ones dont looks the same.

Good review man. I already have carry guns and I want a 1911 to use as a home defense weapon, and occasional IDPA shoot. Seems like a legit choice without having to give up 2 months rent lol 🇺🇸👍

I notice sometimes when I use paper targets without a cardboard backup, I'll get what appears to be keyholing, but it's really due to movement of the paper. Since I normally shoot outdoors, I appreciate the extra weight and wind stability the cardboard affords. My not have been keyholing at all.

I have this pistol myself, the rear sight came lose once, other that that it has worked perfectly. Not sure what to say about that key hole problem, that is strange.

nice review.. just purchased PT1911 Commander in 9mm and will take your points while breaking in.

Got mine used, runs like a champ. Staked the rear sight no problems with it getting lose after that
@Harley3655 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you got one with some problems because I never had an issue with any keyholing on mine or any other problem. Mine has always shot fantastic

I had the opposite experience. The very first shot out of the box was dead center bullseye at 21 feet. However I have owned 1911's before. The 1911 is a very easy gun to shoot well but like most handguns it takes a while to get used to how they shoot (I had trouble with the Glock at first as well). Your break in period includes you getting used to how the gun shoots.

Good job on the video bro. I also have the same gun as you. I love my PT1911. I just recently bought the new CC3H Recover black for my 1911. Looks fantastic! Also have a Flash Compressor installed. I tried the 15rd Pro mags. Bought both black and polished. So far they really suck! But I got them Both for $16 each;. I also adjusted my trigger where if you barely pull on it, it fires. I had tuned it a t the range and got it where I really like the feel and how it fires. But anyways, i hope you still have your PT1911 and having fun with it. ;)

Does the Taurus 1911 has safety issues? Like the safety detaching from the gun?
@garageguy8799 жыл бұрын
as far as the key-holing,,I've never seen that before,,maybe it was the target paper material,,not the gun.,,just something to think about,,as far fetched as it seems it's possible
@stephenmaurer35489 жыл бұрын
+garageguy879 Place a sheet of plywood under your target. If your shooting LRN or FMJ (ball) you will get lots of tear-out on the target.

I'd be interested in seeing the groups from a rest. I had a Taurus pt99 quite a while back. Congrats on joining the 1911 club.

Just purchased a PT1911... no problems!! This pistol is a sweet shooter!! Do they have a tendency to break extractors?

+Stephen Maurer To date... The rear novak sight worked loose. The tiny set screw worked it's way out. I just drill and tapped for a larger set screw... problem solved. For the $$$$ great pistol.

Almost got one of these for 350 at a local gunshop but it sold before i could get it, ended up getting a rock island 9mm/.22 TCM double stack for 580 and knocked 300 off by selling my enfield

I found your channel because fatmantolly,..told me to come here and see what you have. Have you compared this to the NP29 Norinco,....of is this model Norinco available in the U.S ? Reason why I asked is because this Taurus and the NP29 look very similar.

Taurus mags absolutely suck, I have no reliability issues with my pt1911 using other 1911 mags Very accurate. Purchased mine in 2007

I have a $3,000 1911 & a Taurus I bought used for $350 that had never been fired. My Kimber needed $2100 worth of parts to make it suitable to use JHP for duty carry. Spent $30 to polish the ramp and change to a Wilson combat extractor on the Taurus. First thing I do is toss all factory mags & use 10 round WC mags. The Turkish made barrels on the Tisas I found to be thinner in spots using a micrometer. looked at a Citadel which is an Armscor: trigger, ambi-safety, grip safety were all made of PLASTIC. Not polymer freaki’n plastic put a snap cap in to dry fire it at the dealer and the extractor snapped in half. After a few words dealer pulled them all out of his case & called for an RMA while I was there. This is why if I can’t see it 1st I don’t buy unless it’s 1 I know. Ended up buying a couple from him.
@jaydee51566 жыл бұрын
$2100, really? So you bought a $700 plus Kimber and sunk another $2100? Okay?

A basic POS.....face it. Research factory service, after the sale, because you will need repair and tweaking, in my opine and first hand experience.
