I bought the same gun a few years back and I've had no problems what so ever ! I've shot every type of ammo and never a problem ! I have a few 1911's I have to say this is one of my favorite Guns it is the best bang for your money ! I have rock island and the brown but this gun is reliable I wouldn't hesitate to grab it first in an emergency I fact it is the first on the rack next to my m&p 40 I love my m&p too lol but the Taurus is a great Gun very accurate and reliable it's worth every penny and half the price of the big name brands and I think for the money it's the better buy ! Great video thanks for taking the time ! I've also put about 2000 rounds through it and never a problem no stove pipes or ejection problems even with cheap ammo it gets a 5 star rating from me !

Thanks for all the info. I bought a 1911 just like yours two weeks ago at a gun show. Great pistol for the price. I appreciate you adding the break down portion in the video. Now I know how to take it down for cleaning. A+++.

Great video! It's hard to see that... This gun is made on my contry, but with the goverment, we can't have one 1911.... It's very expensive the guns and ammo, it's almost impossible get the permission to buy a gun, and when we can, the most powerfull round we can have is the .380 Don't let the gun haters won is your contry!

No, I haven't seen anything like that. I keep all my guns clean, and oiled at all times. If you are storing your guns for long periods of time, make sure they are clean, and I recommend using a synthetic oil (M-Pro 7, Militec, ect.) rather than a petroleum based oil (Rem-oil, Hoppe's) Petro based oils eventually evaporate, or breakdown over time. Synthetics do not. I wouldn't use Ballistol as a storage oil either. It is a solvent, and can actually ruin your finish. I hope this helps. Take care.

I picked up a used origional model with the Heinie straight-8 sight setup. The finish was basically gone, springs were in bad shape. It was abused, however I don’t think it was ever shot even once. I replaced pretty much everything. I installed a Stealth Arms aluminum beavertail grip safety and aluminum mainspring housing and steel speed well. I went with a Nowlin Speed Demon Hammer, sear, and disconnector set made from A-2 Tooled Steel. It is incredibly awesome now. I went with a satin black Duracoat finish with skate board tape for increased grip surface. It’s so nice..

I have the exact same model as you. It was my sons pistol. It was purchased new in March 2009. He let me try it out at a range session almost 6 years ago. Loved how accurate it was and the trigger is super light and breaks like glass. He presented that pistol to me the following year as a birthday present since I enjoyed shooting it so much. It has been flawless since it was new for him and myself. IMHO the earlier model Taurus 1911 build quality is superior to what has been coming out the last couple of years. I noticed your serial number and mine is NBR 33XXX. Built in 2008. Taurus has been making these 1911's since about 2007 if I recall correctly. I will never part with it as some day it will be my sons pistol once again. ( Hopefully that day is still waaaay down the road. ) LOL. Enjoyed your review and your field strip is the easiest I have ever seen. The Taurus manual makes it a complicated operation. Glad I stumbled upon your post.

I haven't been able to handle any of the more recent models, so I can't say anything about those. That is one thing that people do not usually take in account when watching KZbin videos, is when the video was made. Thank you for the kind words, and take care!

I picked up a pre-owned Stainless PT1911 from my LGS. Mine has an all satin finish. I own some hi-end 1911s and I find my PT1911 every bit as capable. I have become a believer in the Taurus PT1911. I don't believe there are any MIM parts, at least on my pistol If so, the previous own must have replaced them. :>) As you already know, magazines are very important to the proper functioning of any semi-auto pistol. I have never seen a case explode like the one your showed us. I use Wilson and Tripp Magazines exclusively in my 1911 pistols.
@g540238 жыл бұрын
+Keeper Oath I do believe there are MIM parts in the factory gun. I have replaces quite a few parts on mine too. The forged parts do make a little difference in the way the trigger feels. They are a little less "soft" feeling. Thanks for watching!

if you are in Brazil, yes, you can have a PT1911, you just have to register yourself as a shooter in the Defense Ministery, Army or whatever, if you want to, search in Google for: "Carta posse arma de fogo Certificado de Registro Atirador brasileiro" and you'll get all steps on your own language!

Selling point....it comes with a lifetime unlimited warranty, as well. I'd like to hear from someone who had one 10 or 12 years ago compare it to what's available now. Have had a few people tell me they got a PT1911 when they first came out, and they got rid of them. Said they were junk. I like the look of them, but that stigma still holds. I have seen youtube range reviews, and am leaning towards getting one of these, but would really appreciate some input from people who have the newer model.

I purchased this gun in 9mm six months ago and thus far I have sent it back three times. Yes its a good price, but what the hell with their workmanship . Do they have any quality control at all ? I shot many different brands of ammo and different powder loads but they would not eject out of the barrel. I sent it back and they said they replaced the ejector rod. Got it back and it still does the same. Sent it back and yes, it still does the same thing. I first thought it wasn't broken in, but then I have never really had to break a gun in. So thus far I have shot a little over a thousand rounds through it. I would have shot more, but its always in the mail. I have had Taurus guns before and never had this problem with any of them.

+Daniel Choate It's possible to get a lemon with any manufactured product. Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. Hopefully Taurus will make it right. I wouldn't give up on them if I were you. If you spend $600.00+ dollars on a gun it should work. Good luck, and take care. Thanks for watching.

Last week I bought a Taurus PT1911 in .45 ACP. It was a mess. Rust, blueing worn off, a real ugly duckling. I ditched the springs, all except the sear/leaf spring. I replaced the pins as well. The OEM 3 hole trigger was all steel pot metal instead of Aluminum. That, in my opinion is actual fraud. People think they are getting a lightweight aluminum trigger, immune to trigger bounce, and it’s actually heavier than an all steel extra long trigger. Same as the mainspring housing, they somehow managed to make it heavier than an all steel. Just because it’s 30 LPI checkered does not mean its good. I ditched the grip safety because the original owner, or one of them at least.. dinged it hard enough to leave a dent in it on the right side. Once completely opened, I used an India stone to remove a few burrs inside, and dehorned the sharp corners and edges on the exterior. The very rear of the slide behind the grip serrations was pitted, so I stippled that area with a medium stipple. This increases the grip surface when charging, and looks a lot better than rust pits. The barrel, by the way was well fitted, and after intensive cleaning fit like it was match. I installed all Evolution Gun Works ignition parts (sear, disconnector, hammer, hammer strut) as they are the finest one can buy, and they were on hand in my parts. I paid 400 for the whole gun and put 200 worth of ignition parts in, but oh well. They were on hand. The trigger, made from aluminum billet, and oversized for Gunsmith fitting was from Stealth Arms. Firing pin from STI, machined titanium. I ditched the Torx head grip screws for Allen Key with flat tip screwdriver slots added. I installed a 20 LPI checkered Smith and Alexander Mainspring Housing with Speed Well. I used an 18.5 lb Chrome Silicon recoil spring and a super heavy 25 pound mainspring to ensure ignition under the worst conditions. I set the trigger pull to 4 pounds. Frame rails and slide rail and locking lugs polished to a mirror finish, as well as the feed ramp. I kept the Taurus guide rod and plug. I installed Combat Checkered Alumina Grips duracoated U.S. Army Foliage Green. Last, I duracoated the pistol Satin Black. I had to clean it three times before I began on anything else. It was absolutely filthy. I wound up setting a kettle of hot water, bringing it to a boil, and dumping Dawn dish detergent and boiling hot water on it to break up the crud, letting it cool and scrubbing it and cleaned that off with isopropyl alcohol. It was finally clean. That was for an extreme circumstance, as even the pins were seized up it was so filthy. Moral of the story is, I had idle hands, This was a fun project for a week. The parts I fitted in were worth more than the gun, but now it is one awesome combat handgun. ➡️ If you own one of these, call Taurus, and order Tritium Sights from the factory. To buy aftermarket custom Tritium sights for this Gun is over $150.00 but only $49.11 from the factory. They are on back order.

I got my fixed yes, Taurus stands behind their product 100%. It was the slide stop. Installed a new one and have put close to 500 rounds through it now and not a single issue. The slide stop had too much movement, it would slide over and the next bullet coming up would push it up and stick the slide open. Soon as I installed the new one I could tell it was fixed. I love the gun, very smooth and tight, groups very nicely already. Thanks.

I just bought the exact gun today. It will match the PT111DT I also have. I wanted to know if that was a reload that failed or factory load?
@g540239 жыл бұрын
+1unaffiliated1 Sorry I didn't elaborate more on that. It was a reloaded cartridge, that was loaded by an individual that was notorious for not trimming cases. Myself and others had warned him that not trimming cases would lead to problems. After this incident, he was convinced. So, if you reload, trim your cases. Thanks for watching, and pointing that out. I'll get it annotated. Take care.
@1unaffiliated19 жыл бұрын
I am a novice reloader myself, there is a lot to reloading, not for the average its close enough type person. I am guilty of it myself, reloading cases too many times, the case gets weak at the bottom or stretched too thin. I have a case gauge for every caliber, but, inspecting each case is key. Trying to keep up with the times reloaded is my problem.
@x17Snake01x6 жыл бұрын
Steven Stowe Red marker on the bottom of the case helps a ton. I mark every reload red on the primer, and leave a little notch next to it on the case itself. I don't ever reload after the fourth. I make a tiny X around the primer and throw it out when I'm done. I know many do more, many do less...but you get the general idea.

@g540238 жыл бұрын
+roj vins The magazines that come with the gun aren't bad. They are actually good mags. Even though mine did break, it is easy to fix. Unless you have problems with yours, I would keep them. Any magazine would have probably failed in the same situation as mine. In my experience, the magazine wasn't at fault, it was a problem with the ammo. Thanks for watching, and take care.

Are you saying a cartridge loaded correctly in the chamber and when the pin hit the primer the bullet clogged in the barrel and sent the pressure down the magazine well? Was it a defective 45 cartridge or a failure to properly load in the chamber? I see from the video it looks like the pin hit the primer smack in the center and then it exploded. What worries me is once the primer was struck it should have gone down the barrel and it didn't. Yikes!
@g5402310 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry that I didn't talk into further detail about the exploding round. It was actually out of a lot of someone else's hand loads that I acquired. After that happened, I pulled every bullet from that lot of ammo, and reloaded them myself. I am very weary of shooting other peoples hand loads now. I believe the reason the round exploded was due to an over length case, or it was way over charged. The bullet did exit the barrel, and the round fed in just fine. That round had much more recoil than the others, and it was lodged in the chamber extremely tight. It's a lesson learned. Don't shoot someone else's hand loads, especially if you know they cut corners. It can have really bad results. Thanks for watching, and stay safe.

Bought a TCP .380 from Taurus. They sold THOUSANDS of them with defective magazines, then fixed the magazine in later models, but did not recall the old ones or manufacture enough of the new ones. Half of us are holding guns that won't feed ammo correctly and Taurus refuses to manufacture enough magazines even for us to buy (they should replace the defective ones for free, right???). I've ordered new mags from Taurus and have been waiting 14 months, and they're still not responding to my calls or my letters. If they're this disrespectful for the cheapest gun they make, think they'll be much better for a high-end model? "We stand with you"? Don't count on it; buy another brand. Don't believe me: Google "Taurus TCP magazine" and see if you can find ONE to buy anywhere in the world...
