Just to clarify, there are 0 hp gains from venting to atmosphere with a turbo blow off modification. It's strictly for sound only. It will NOT gain any horsepower. You can read all about this on The SHO forum.

What makes it a stage 4+ ? I'm running a unleashed 93 tune that's running faster times just their tune package I have the 87,91,93 tunes with modified grill to allow direct flow into factory air box with a muffler delete I didn't know their was a "stage" to it ??

I noticed the same thing so I put them back on... then my rear turbo was toast a few months later..but idk if a catch can would have helped. I kinda felt like my car was slower when VTA which makes me think it is recirculating but I have no idea and everyone has a different opinion. I miss the noise but with my intake I still get a little.

I was told the reason why there are no blow off valves stock, is because the stock system actually recirculates the boost back into the system, which allows the vehicle to have more horsepower right now. The blow off valves release the pressure, and doesn't recirculate, which would be a loss of power until the pressure builds back up. Interceptorking no. actually its not a mass airflow metered ecu. its a Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensing ecu so there is no need for the recirculated air.

SHO VLOGS thats interesting because most vw are recirc from factory and use a map sensor but run like ass on a vent to atmosphere bov. Guess it depends on the motor. Good to know since I'm in the market for one of these cars. Hard finding that green gem metallic

SHO VLOGS is right, no downsides to VTA. The reason they are recirc from factory is the same reason they made the exhaust so quite. They are factory sleepers.

The reason it is so quite isn't so its a sleeper...its to pass the federal standards for volume on the car. The noise this is making might sound quiet compared to say exhaust, but it is very high pitched and very short in duration.

They used end caps for the bottom of steel folding chairs. You remove the hose going from the BOV to the return (there are two, one of the front side, and one behind the engine which can be a pain). Then you take the chair cap and slide it over the intake return and use one of the hose clamps you removed to hold it in place. I think there are other videos showing the process, or you can join the SHOforums/SHO owners club on FB if you need more info.

Idiots.. BOVs arent made to release under idle/nuetral conditions 😂 but if you cant afford an aftermarket BOV this is a fun and cheap set up, so if you wont ever mod your car to make more boost, this is the optimum way to go

There aren't really any aftermarket BOVs for the SHO unless you want to drop money on aftermarket hard pipes and get a Tial bov a long with it. The stock BOVs can handle more boost as well, plenty of guys are running tuned cars with some form of this cheap VTA mod with no problems.

The "BOV" (its actually a bypass on this car) is doing exactly what it was doing from the factory... it is absolutely designed to release under idle/neutral conditions. Nothing they did modifies the actual bypass or changes the way it functions...its just vents to the outside air instead of back into the intake tract. It also has zero, absolute zero, with "modding the car to make more boost". This will not increase the volume of air it can release etc. Way to call people idiots though when you were completely wrong lol.

Venting to atmosphere on an engine that was designed to run the opposite way is actually BAD for your engine....you should never do this...theres a reason why it's designed like this....grand nationals have been on the road for many years without the "blow off " sound...for a reason

Andrew B you fail to realize that once you get back on the throttle the bov will actually let some air back into the system along with any dirt and trash unless you put a filter on it. That's why ATI Prochargers have filters on their bovs.

Atvtinker01 And you fail to realize that BOVs are only open when they are releasing pressure, there is no way for dirt to enter when there is pressurized air blowing out of them. The only tangible effect the air filter on the ATI BOV has is quieting the noise. You can google this. BOVs do not suck in any air., Thats why you see nearly all aftermarket BOVs are VTA with no filter. So, again, there are no downsides to this mod.

Nope. The SHO uses MAP not MAF, so no harm in VTA. I and many others have had it done for long periods of time with no issue.

As a SHO owner, there a perfect sleeper. And you might think they are ugly, maybe it's because you've been beat by one. Mine is 4,440 lbs. Exhaust upgrades, meth injection, E30 tune. 0-60 3.67, QM in 11.72. Ide say It's a muscle car. Last track run I beat a stock C7 Z06. Love seeing guys like you in my rearview. Oh and my Turbos are stock.
