2013 SHO. 145K NO WARRANTY. It's like driving around with a Claymore in your lap 😂. It's been a bit of a credit card killer. But I love it for long drives. It's white and looks like a cop car. What more could you ask for. Not much is comparable on the market that has the power and all the options these cars come with. They're always lacking.

It's a simple fix but having a shop do it is expensive. That's why I like watching your show, you find out the problems and fix them, then go back and do general Maintenance. replace things that should get done. 5 years ago I was in the market for a new car (well... "new" to me). I was looking at SHO's, but being on the taller side, VERY disappointed with the head room, especially since Taurus is supposed to be a mid-sized sedan. Sales guy told to go sit in a fusion, as the head room was actually a smidge better. He was right. Then as my research/shopping continued, I ran across AutoVlog & he test drove a Lincoln MKZ 3.0T AWD. I fell in love with the looks & performance, then found one near me with 29K miles for under $30K. Plus it didn't have a sunroof, which added some needed head room, and had the Driver's Package. 5 years later, I STILL love driving it! 400 HP & 400 torque. My wife says, "You drive differently since you got this car!" (aka FASTER, muhahahahahaha!)

@@mattr66 Yeah, your 3" taller than me. It felt like I had to recline the seat so far that I'd be driving with my arms straight out all the time (not comfortable). pto is part of the transmission so it pulls from the transmission like some transfer cases
@SpeCifiC05073 ай бұрын
@@noahmiller5890 Yes and no. In the video you can see two different colored liquids coming out from when he removed the axle, one is the PTU fluid, and the other is the transmission fluid. Because you have to remove all of the outside seals to get to the seal that is leaking transmission fluid, it also means you lose PTU fluid. The PTU has very little fluid in it, which is usually the reason why they grenade early on, so hopefully Alex put fluid back into the PTU because every little bit counts.

I’m loving these SHO videos cause my 20 year old son owns a 2013 Lincoln MKS ecoboost (the same car but with more plush creature comforts). I did my due diligence when looking at it even took my ramps and crawled under the car in front of the seller. I’ve done the water pump on my 09 Lincoln MKZ 3.5L so no fear on dropping the cradle again. He’s about 115K on the ticker so I know we have about 30-40K left in the water pump. When that happens we’re going to do all these while you’re in there. The most interesting fact about this car, his insurance was cheaper with the Ecoboost than the NA 3.5, go figure.

I don't know how you do it. You don't curse enough to be a good mechanic yet somehow you are?

Alex is possible that the fact that your engine mounts are moving a lot. Because they're old or is why the seal is leaking. Turn up the volume on it with old engines mounts amounts to lot external pressure. You'll get a lot of movement causing problems.

"I put in the cheapest PTU i could find - and apperently they use cheap seals" - -well no sh*t sherlock - nobody in the history of using carparts would have guessed that one

And thats why i question the power figures. 450 awhp it has never broken the tires loose not once and that amazon band aide im sure isnt holding that power. Something isnt right. Dont tell me because its awd i have had several Eagle talons with a 2.0 pulling 350 awhp haze the wheels at least for many feet. This SHO is lack luster at best.
@sergeantspeed59413 ай бұрын
@@polocarrillo5831you don't know what you're talking about. You're competing a fwd 2300 lbs car to an awd 4500 lb car. Easy KZbin search shows how easily 400+ hp is. They're all 365 from factory, and the fuel system is more than capable. I owned one, they're complete junk cars, but they're no slouch.

I just bought a new Corvette, I have not beat on it, but I did once in the name of science, I tried out the launch control. I amazed myself, it ran a 2.8 0-60. It’s 3700 pounds, and 490 Hp.

One of your best videos yet! Seeing Papa D's expression when he realized that the car was his along with the best warranty in existence was some awesome stuff. Earlier in the video, I had a flashback from about 20 years ago when I broke a 12mm snap-on socket, taking out a 7.5 rear-end in a 1985 Mustang GT and replacing it with an 8.8. Coincidentally that Mustang is the same car that I was inspired to start working on again from watching your videos. I will be installing an upgraded clutch and pressure plate along with a rejetted Holley carburetor for better fuel economy in the primary yet more in the secondary for when I need a little more go for starters. I also have plans for a short throw shifter along with a 4 lug to 5 lug conversion and disc brakes added to the rear. Some 1.6 roller rocker arms are also in the works and an electric fan in place of the stock pulley driven fan. A work in progress that I am looking forward to. Thanks for all the great videos. You have given me some good ideas to work on from your previous builds and upgrades.

Who needs a warrantee? I am 56 and had 1 car for 2 years with a warrantee. I fix everything myself so a warrantee does not mean a lot. Sometimes it is easier to just fix something than to go through all the hassle of claiming a warrantee.

So glad I got rid of my SHO before I got into the same money pit you did, Alex! I think the greatest service your channel does is show many of us cars we SHOULDN’T buy! 🤣 My 2005 E55 and 2001 E430 have both been rock solid reliable and I have driven both of them all over the country this year with little more than oil changes and tire balances!

40:12 I did a Pedal Commander on mine and it made a HUGE difference in the throttle response and Sport mode was absolutely insane with the 3 bar Livernois tune.

Yes I remember the home garage days . Always knew you'd do well and you actually are a bloody good mechanic a dying trade I fear what with ev's on the rise and most new cars need fitters at best . At least that's where I see the UK headed. Love the vids Alex and greetings from Blackpool UK

You need to try out an Mercury Mountaineer 4.6 V8 AWD they come with around 275hp stock but the platform is rock solid add some boost and one of these would turn into a trackhawk earlier models have a 5.0v8 so possibly a new coyote swap would even be a nice upgrade or a eaton supercharger cause it could use another 100hp at least but it gets off the line fast with awd engaged and has 3rd row seating to take whole family with heated seats

Man, the day my business takes off to the point where I can afford to upgrade my car for fun will be the day. As a budget king you've inspired me to make the bracket that holds my cold air intake piping and the heat shield for it so i can atleast get cool intake noises since I have everything for it already just not a bracket or heat shield cutting master lol. Dremel shall be my friend. Thanks for the amazing content that has also been thoroughly educational on top of fun as well. You have way more fun working on cars than most other content creators I've seen. Thanks for the epic videos.
