This is a GREAT full size hammer fired 9mm and he is spot on about the slide. If you want an easy slide for your woman....GET THIS SEMI. The weight is great. Its actually a great alternative to a 1911 and in fact made me decide not to waste my money on a 1911. Extra mags are about 25 bucks and they also work with the older 809 series. Gave $295 for mine. The mag release button is a little tight and he is spot on about using the index finger on the right side. But no big deal. You wont find for around 300 bucks a better hammer fired semi at a price even double.

I bought the similar PT809 years ago. I found that the mag release does loosen up after some time and use. Not a big issue for me. You are right about mags. I bought a third mag for my gun soon after getting it. It was hard to find but I lucked out. Good gun overall for the price. It was my first pistol and my only one. It's a good range gun. Not a practical carry gun. More of a duty gun. But anyone needing a duty gun would would surely pay for a higher priced gun like a Glock, Sig, S&W or any other well known model.

Good review, but I must disagree with you on your statement about the value of warranties. Depends on the manufacturer. I've had excellent warranty service from Ruger in particular. They replaced my mk iv at no charge to me because the firing pin broke and peened the chamber wall. I've also had good luck with smith and Wesson and tristar. I wouldn't overlook a gun because of the warranty, but it's nice to know the manufacturer will stand behind their product if it fails to perform
@Sui7786 жыл бұрын
I respect your opinion on warranties. But just as a guy who has handled RMA's and repairs before I just know how the operation works. I'm not saying that any manufacturer is looking to screw people and not honor a warranty when the manufacturer is genuinely at fault for whatever reason - but it comes down to a simple game of numbers - whose gonna pay, and can we charge them to fix it on a technicality. That's just how it is.

@pickin4you6 жыл бұрын
@@Sui778 I have heard from other reviewers that the button is very stiff and hard to push, which tells me the spring is too stiff. Easy fix. Like you showed, that mag flies out of there once the button is pushed in far enough. It could also be stiff like that to prevent jams, by accidentally hitting the mag release button and letting that mag slip down a tad. Makes the gun more reliable, but makes changing mags something to get used to. Build up those thumb muscles...lol
@Sui7786 жыл бұрын
@@pickin4you I am guessing that it's the spring myself, but the reason I wonder if it's something else (or in conjunction with the spring) is it doesn't just feel stiff - it's almost like it's hitting something inside - but that could simply have to do with the size of the spring also. I don't think it's worth replacing - the mag release works as is and a minor issue at best.

my g3 slide is like that as well, you can rack it with just the thumb and index finger. My m&p pistols take a considerable effort in comparison. I guess the slightly heavier slide is a good thing.
@Sui7782 жыл бұрын
There is good and bad in a slide that's easy to rack - obviously good in the sense that it's very easy chamber a round, but on the flipside it wouldn't take a whole lot for an assailant to grab your slide and push it back. I probably was, having looked at the video - it didn't help that I was having to do all that standing behind a tripod without bumping into it. The bottom line is the single action is a lot cleaner. The TH9c was my first and will be my last Taurus I buy. I clean my guns thoroughly after each range visit. My Taurus is prone to failure to eject after about 50 rounds. That is the minor issue. After abot the first hundred rounds on the new gun i was getting fail to fires. When I got home I went to disassemble the gun and had to beat the slide off. The fail to fire was because the slide was not returning to the full forward position. This was caused by a ridge that developed on the forward part of the ejection port causing the slide to rise up on barrel block and jam against the rails. All I've ever used is Winchester standard found nose loads. Very dissapointed.

Great review Sui 778! I'm eyeing on this TH9 as a back gun for competition ( Production division). I will still have to check the mags availability if it can be had + the holster from the same gun store. Is there any 5 inch barrel available for this gun? Thanks again for sharing!
@Sui7785 жыл бұрын
There are no barrel length variations that I know of - pretty much with the full size you're locked into the 4.27 inch length. While I think highly of this pistol I don't think I could recommend it as a competition gun, even if only as a backup - it just doesn't have the precision accuracy competition shooters are looking for. In the self defensive world it is plenty adequate, however. Mag availability is always questionable with Taurus autoloaders regardless of model. The bottom line is - if you see the mags you need for a Taurus pistol - get them right there and then.

When you pull the slide back to eject a round from the chamber does the round eject out of the side or does it fall down through the grip and fall out the bottom of the grip? This or SD9VE???!!! Which one ??!!!
@Sui7785 жыл бұрын
Me personally, I'd take the TH9... more controls, better grip, and a bit heavier. I personally didn't like the way the SD9VE felt in my hand as much either. Not to say it's a bad gun, I just like the TH better overall.

I have both and they are both great pistols, But I prefer guns with a hammer, or single double action guns

Holster for the 809 fits great. Got one from Amazon.

What about accuracy?
@Sui7786 жыл бұрын
It's not a competition pistol by any means but the accuracy is reasonable.
@mia1shooter5 жыл бұрын
Accuracy is heavily based on the shooter...

my slide will not go back on ☹☹☹
@Sui7786 жыл бұрын
Is the hammer cocked? If it isn't, cock it all the way to the rear and then try putting your slide back on.

Amigo... Th9c or g2c??????
@Sui7784 жыл бұрын
Both are good. G2C is a little smaller for carry, and a little lighter.
@doddgarger68064 жыл бұрын
G2c trigger is fantastic in my opinion, go handle one, EVEN da is light to me, BUT I just did a few engine swaps over the past few months so.... no soft hands here
