Good news for you warranty people as of March 1 Taurus has the lifetime warranty back. This also applies to guns sold before march 1.

This is a GREAT full size hammer fired 9mm and he is spot on about the slide. If you want an easy slide for your woman....GET THIS SEMI. The weight is great. Its actually a great alternative to a 1911 and in fact made me decide not to waste my money on a 1911. Extra mags are about 25 bucks and they also work with the older 809 series. Gave $295 for mine. The mag release button is a little tight and he is spot on about using the index finger on the right side. But no big deal. You wont find for around 300 bucks a better hammer fired semi at a price even double.

I currently own the Taurus th9 and I also own the sd40ve. I love my th9 it feels better in my hands than the g3. I only paid $275.00 from my local pawnshop used in excellent condition. I haven’t shot it yet but I tested it manually by racking rounds out of the magazine. It feeds good. I can’t wait to shoot mine and I also can conceal carry it with my permit with no problem. Thanks for the review great review sir. Second amendment carry on. I will not comply.

I bought the similar PT809 years ago. I found that the mag release does loosen up after some time and use. Not a big issue for me. You are right about mags. I bought a third mag for my gun soon after getting it. It was hard to find but I lucked out. Good gun overall for the price. It was my first pistol and my only one. It's a good range gun. Not a practical carry gun. More of a duty gun. But anyone needing a duty gun would would surely pay for a higher priced gun like a Glock, Sig, S&W or any other well known model.

I'm planning on buying my TH9 soon. Big plus for me is the ambidextrous features. I'm teaching my 13 yr old daughter to shoot and we are both lefties. It seems to be a great gun for the price! Finding firearms and holsters for left handed people is a challenge. Let me know if any of you found a reasonably priced left handed holster for the TH9. Happy shooting!

They said the same thing bout the Sccy mag realeas but after breaking it in with oil the mag release is perfect. And there’s no false reset on the trigger at all. Just to let those who’s thinking about getting it. The true and only con about this weapon is the weight it’s a real gun. Weighs 28 ounces

Often it seems everyone looks at guns thru the lens of it being a competition gun. This is why this gun cannot compare to others. This is not in that market. This is an inexpensive, reliable, self defense & range gun for shooting fun. The trigger is well designed for this. I suspect some polishing of the trigger components will do wonders for them feel.
@Sui778
@Sui778 3 жыл бұрын
I agree 100%. Never mentioned I thought this would be a competition gun, and the trigger on it is fine since it can be left in single action. I'm not a fan of the double action and never will be, but there still something to be said about the heavy double action being an additional layer of safety.

I have the PT 809 basically the same gun I absolutely love my PT 809. I had the 709 slim for my carry gun loved it but my hands are a little to big for it so I sold it. I've been looking at the Th 9 C but I've got some mixed reviews from KZbin videos about not being real reliable. So I've swithed my thoughts to the pt111 G2 every review and every thing I've read about it it's a hell of a gun. And you can get magazines for it, unlike my PT 809 magazines are like $38 and you can't find them. Great video thanks

Thanks - I'm a little surprised about the reported performances of the TH9C - but the TH9 doesn't seem to suffer the same fate - it runs just fine and almost every other review I've seen on the full-sized version states the same. Good review, but I must disagree with you on your statement about the value of warranties. Depends on the manufacturer. I've had excellent warranty service from Ruger in particular. They replaced my mk iv at no charge to me because the firing pin broke and peened the chamber wall. I've also had good luck with smith and Wesson and tristar. I wouldn't overlook a gun because of the warranty, but it's nice to know the manufacturer will stand behind their product if it fails to perform
@Sui778
@Sui778 6 жыл бұрын
I respect your opinion on warranties. But just as a guy who has handled RMA's and repairs before I just know how the operation works. I'm not saying that any manufacturer is looking to screw people and not honor a warranty when the manufacturer is genuinely at fault for whatever reason - but it comes down to a simple game of numbers - whose gonna pay, and can we charge them to fix it on a technicality. That's just how it is.

@@Sui778 I have heard from other reviewers that the button is very stiff and hard to push, which tells me the spring is too stiff. Easy fix. Like you showed, that mag flies out of there once the button is pushed in far enough. It could also be stiff like that to prevent jams, by accidentally hitting the mag release button and letting that mag slip down a tad. Makes the gun more reliable, but makes changing mags something to get used to. Build up those thumb muscles...lol
@Sui778
@Sui778 6 жыл бұрын
@@pickin4you I am guessing that it's the spring myself, but the reason I wonder if it's something else (or in conjunction with the spring) is it doesn't just feel stiff - it's almost like it's hitting something inside - but that could simply have to do with the size of the spring also. I don't think it's worth replacing - the mag release works as is and a minor issue at best.

my g3 slide is like that as well, you can rack it with just the thumb and index finger. My m&p pistols take a considerable effort in comparison. I guess the slightly heavier slide is a good thing.
@Sui778
@Sui778 2 жыл бұрын
There is good and bad in a slide that's easy to rack - obviously good in the sense that it's very easy chamber a round, but on the flipside it wouldn't take a whole lot for an assailant to grab your slide and push it back. But then again if you're in a defensive situation and that happens - well - you waited too long to shoot anyway.

@@peterpaul6725 Actually the mag release buttons behave the same - a bit sticky and mushy. I use the right hand button because I can push down on it directly with my index finger and get a solid release that way. Works better than thumbing it on the left side. In your case it would be the reverse since I'm a right handed shooter.

@@Sui778 My pistols mag release buttom is to the left. I got used to use my middle finger (strange) (positioning the pistol about 45 degrees) in a way that the mag falls in my right hand or my next mag is waiting to go in the mag well. With right release buttom I use my thumb. With rifles, scissors or playing pool I am right handed. That is why I say I have several guns and adapt to each one. Some cowboys may say"in a shoot out you are dead", happened once and we both survived. Reality is not like the movies. Thanks for your time. Nice sharing comments with you. Saw your range video. I probably was, having looked at the video - it didn't help that I was having to do all that standing behind a tripod without bumping into it. The bottom line is the single action is a lot cleaner. The nice thing about the DA however, is you really have to mean it to pull the trigger, so I consider that a safety feature of sorts - I don't carry it that way, but it's a good option if one hates thumb safeties.

The TH9c was my first and will be my last Taurus I buy. I clean my guns thoroughly after each range visit. My Taurus is prone to failure to eject after about 50 rounds. That is the minor issue. After abot the first hundred rounds on the new gun i was getting fail to fires. When I got home I went to disassemble the gun and had to beat the slide off. The fail to fire was because the slide was not returning to the full forward position. This was caused by a ridge that developed on the forward part of the ejection port causing the slide to rise up on barrel block and jam against the rails. All I've ever used is Winchester standard found nose loads. Very dissapointed.

Great review Sui 778! I'm eyeing on this TH9 as a back gun for competition ( Production division). I will still have to check the mags availability if it can be had + the holster from the same gun store. Is there any 5 inch barrel available for this gun? Thanks again for sharing!
@Sui778
@Sui778 5 жыл бұрын
There are no barrel length variations that I know of - pretty much with the full size you're locked into the 4.27 inch length. While I think highly of this pistol I don't think I could recommend it as a competition gun, even if only as a backup - it just doesn't have the precision accuracy competition shooters are looking for. In the self defensive world it is plenty adequate, however. Mag availability is always questionable with Taurus autoloaders regardless of model. The bottom line is - if you see the mags you need for a Taurus pistol - get them right there and then.

If you want a gun that works every time you pull the trigger then get a TH9, M&P, Sig 226,227,229, Glock, Beretta, Canick, ECT, ECT...... Personally o have never had a issue with my Hi-Point. I have had issue with my 24//7 G2C. There are some ammo that takes 2 or 3 tomes before it will fire. Make a a nice range toy and trap line gun bun not a EDC weapon. Any other pistol or revolver in my collection has proven reliability. Including my C9 Hi Point. Might add this to my collection.

When you pull the slide back to eject a round from the chamber does the round eject out of the side or does it fall down through the grip and fall out the bottom of the grip? Most of the time on mine it just falls through the inside of the grip and falls out the bottom….every once in awhile the round will eject out the side but most times not. I thought my gun was broken when I first got it but it shoots just fine.

@@cnottagejr Yep TH9C is about 3/5 of an inch longer than the G2C. As far as whether you should buy them or not, I would go look at them and shoot them if you can before you buy if at all possible.

The barrel is a quarter inch longer, the grip has the new stippled texture, no serrations in the front of the slide. Also, no more Taurus security system.

@@Sui778 Do you think that the TH9 is CC-able? I have an FNH FNX-9 -- which has very equivalent ambi controls, also hammer-fired very similarly-sized , but the FNX-9 weight is 21.9oz -- 6.3oz lighter than TH9. However, the FNX9 costs about 2x the price of the TH9. Thoughts?
@Sui778
@Sui778 5 жыл бұрын
@@tkarlmann Considering the dimensions of the FNX, the TH9 would be a larger conceal - it is 0.32 inches longer and a half-inch taller. Not quite as thick though - about 1/4 of an inch thinner. I personally don't carry guns this size - I go for smaller - say PT-111 G2 or smaller.
