Grew up with that pizza, still get it every summer when i'am back visiting family, best in Ashburn, if not the whole southwest side! My grandparents lived a block away..

Pizza is probably one of the things I miss the most from my days living in the Chicago area. There is just nothing to compare in downstate Illinois no matter what the long time locals might tell you. The upside is that I love to cook and I’ve taught myself to make a pretty darn good thin crispy crust pizza from scratch. The best downstate pizza might be at my house! Thanks…

When my parents moved to Texas, good pizza was the No. 1 thing they missed. As for downstate Illinois, I will say that in college, "Uptown Normal" had two really great pizza places that both closed within the last 20 years: Micheleo's and Jake's. Outside of that, there were definitely none that I could find that were any better.

It’s not only the South Side. We had excellent thin-crust Chicago style pizza at Al’s Pizza in Warrenville last weekend.

I grew up 3 blocks from there in Hometown. Southside note..if you feel 5.9% is strong alcohol your def not from the southside. Again that was a southside note 😂
