A country without proper tax reform laws and tax revenue controls mechanism cannot progress. Because taxation is supposed to facilitate economic development and infrastructure development. That is if it is properly implemented, accounted for and the accrued revenue is targeted towards infrastructure projects that are beneficial to the population.

"If it is properly implemented" Exactly... in a country like Nigeria, that's a big "if".😂😂

How is government expenditures raised worldwide? Is it not from taxes? When one borrow from world Bank, don't world bank ask that taxes be raised? Let every community be a working community and find a way to raise money to fund government expenditures, whether is agriculture or other resources, including human resources.

How is the bill against Northern Nigeria. Can someone please enlighen me?
@publichealth947017 күн бұрын
Why must northern interests always take precedence over those of other Nigerians? Must we prioritize the large population of unproductive individuals over the regions where our resources are generated? Why should Nigeria's growth be contingent on the north's development? The fear exhibited by northerners clearly indicates that they are a greedy and self-centered region, concerned only with their own interests. Moreover, they do not pay taxes, yet they benefit from the hard work of others.

Sure, the northern governors sponsor this. These same governors were against local government autonomy. Shame on them all. They don’t mean well for the masses. Meanwhile, up North, many of their people are on the government's payroll without even doing anything. They only receive free salaries. The North often claims they don’t need the South, yet they are the ones crying bitterly about this tax reform bill. Also, these same Hausa/Fulani individuals dominate our ministries, army, and police despite there being more qualified candidates from North Central and the South. They have the highest slots in our Defence and Police Academies. They control the NNPC, Federal Inland Revenue Service, and the Nigerian Ports Authority. Yet, the South aren't complaining. The South are just slaves to the Hausa/Fulanis as things stand. The South pays the taxes and contributes resources yet remains impoverished, while the North, which brings little or nothing to the table, receives the highest allocation based on population. They often claim they supply food to the south but is the supply free? The tax reform will be passed, Insha’Allah, and heaven won’t fall. The worst-case scenario is that everyone will go their separate ways. Southerners should stand behind Tinubu on this one. He is only trying to correct the injustice in Nigeria. What the core North has done to other Nigerians, they couldn’t endure if the tables were turned. If we want equity, we must all speak the truth: the North is milking Nigeria. This is what Tinubu is trying to change. Having said all this, I think the North has what it takes to do even better than the South. They just need to put on their thinking caps and look inwards. They have the land and the population to be self-sufficient.

Had any one ask what the tax is going to be used for? presidential expenses, the Vice President, First Ladies lawmakers, or the corrupt politicians? Let them recover the looted public funds and depend on that for now and stop bothering the innocent citizens trying to survive. “Let the poor breath “

Have you gone through the content of the tax reform bill before making ur comment? The answer is NO. This bill eradicate multiple taxes, low income earner that is people with 1 million naira annual income will not pay tax, business of 50 million earnings will not pay tax, business of above 50 million will pay 25% instead of 30% from the profit make. VAT is paid where the commodity is consumed. Unlike what we have now whereby all the VAT is paid to the headquarters of the company that's producing commodity.
