So I looked up that driver’s taxi and it is a 2007 model…therefore not compliant to Euro 6 without a conversion. There have been funds available to pay up to 80% of the cost of conversion to make existing taxis Euro 6 equivalent but the fund has run out. On the site it says ‘Due to high demand’…shouldn’t that be ‘due to insufficient funding’? I’m very sympathetic to the affected taxi drivers on this issue.

Yet again, like the ferry fiasco, the SNP just bulldoze ahead without consulting those that their changes will affect. Over a thousand taxis will have to be replaced at 55 to 60 thousand pounds each. A lot of drivers will give up and get other jobs, leaving a shortage of cabs in the city. Car owners living in the zone with older cars , will be expected to change to newer cars which most can ill afford during these challenging times. The patronising response from the SNP that people can use public transport, shows how little they care about peoples needs. Public transport in Glasgow is not exactly world class. Another shambles.

Those classic taxis. Victorian era, I don't know why people never allowed me to use them. Free taxi for me in London, until I moved to an apartment, close to the office, cut the cost of transportation, in the evening I was returned to the Palace. It was I return or the blow-up every Palace. Faces will change when I arrive in London. I was hiding for many reasons

Could you afford sixty grand to change your car if you had one, just because somebody wants a pat on the back ? Once again, like the ferry fiasco, the SNP just go ahead with ideas without proper consultation regarding how their measures will affect people. Over a thousand taxis will have to be replaced if those drivers want to keep their job or business going. Absolutely no help forthcoming from the SNP. The UK gov helped the drivers through the covid pandemic, it’s about time the SNP looked after its own people. They cannot afford iPads or bikes that they promised for the kids, so what hope do the drivers have ? Forcing people who actually live within the designated low emission zone with an older car, to buy a newer one right in the middle of a cost of living crises. And then they try to tell people to use public transport, when the train service is a shambles. Failure after failure.
