Why do some 324s have different fretboard inlaydots versus the "Saturn" design? Does this affect price, value? Why is this an inconsistency on such a fine instrument, by such a reputable builder? I'm confused 😕

What kind of microphone and brand is that? A stereo ribbon? Some of the comments were about the poor sound. Maybe it's the mic. Or maybe it's the crappy computer speakers they are listening to, lol.

Gorgeous looking instrument but does it have the god awful sounding ES2 onboard? My old 420 is still my workhorse go-to but I’ve bought two additional Taylor’s since the release of the ES2 and the tone of that expression system is completely unplayable in true live scenarios. Both were sold and the old 420 is hanging in there (though on its third ES1). Taylors feel incredible and the natural tonality is purely pristine but no one building those ES2s can possibly be performing in real gig scenarios.

sillydillydokieo I’ve owned 3 Taylors with ES2s (and have since sold them) since buying my original 420ce-SL, which is still my number 1 and has an ES1onboard. The design of the ES1 was a magnetic pickup underneath the bottom of the fretboard as well as a body sensor between the bridge and the bottom of the guitar, which picked up vibrations from the top (like a mic does). It captures more of the dynamic range of the natural sound of the instrument. It is also very controllable tonally in a live scenario. The ES2 is a piezo pickup that sits under the saddle. It sits in one location on the guitar and has a “plastic” quality to its sound. Also because of where it sits, the top of the guitar is nearly microphonic, capturing every minute palm movement and inadvertent finger tap. It’s incredibly difficult to manage in a louder live scenario even with the addition of things like the LR Baggs preamps with Notch Filters. The character of the piezo IMO does not come close to doing the character of the instrument any justice at all.

At nearly 5k Australian dollars, and that is supposed to be affordable!!!! I’ll stick to matons at half the cost and much better sounding!! This Taylor sounded like a 100$ crapper

Lee L I agree....it sounds like cracking and annoying for $3000 . I don’t think I d buy it. I’d go for higher series for the same price. But it looks beautiful to me though.

714ce with upgraded gotoh tuners for almost same amount. Better then some crappy tree that a bum in California probably peed on called urban ass
