I think it needs to be said that in addition to your being an excellent luthier/repair & restoration tech your guitar playing is right up there as well 👍

Well done. Performing a neck reset to my 314CE. Taylor Customer Support: superb! Notable: 28 in lb torque for the heel bolts and "Good-n-tight" for the extension bolt. Sometimes, per Taylor, that torque will restore the desired neck angle with the factory-installed shim pair. Love the engineering-smarts of the NT Neck design. Simple, elegant, and brilliant. Thanks again for this post!

This was great! I knew that Taylor guitars had bolt on necks, but this is the first time I've ever seen a neck adjustment on one of them. Thank you for posting this!

First time I’ve seen a full sized Taylor neck adjustment. I have a Baby Taylor and know they are super easy to adjust, but had no idea how the dreadnoughts worked. Really brilliant engineering. I’m mainly a Martin man and recall several years ago when they came out with a line of bolt on necks (D-16s?). All the Martin purists kind of put the poopoo on them, so I’ve stayed with glued necks. My current Martin is a D-18E Retro, which plays and sounds amazing. Anyhow, now that I’ve seen you adjust the neck on this Taylor, I kind of dig it. Thanks.

I always liked the idea that Taylor has with the neck to body joint, but I never liked an acoustic guitar with a cut away. Also, can you purchase that guitar without a pickup system? I don't like knobs on an acoustic guitar. I hated those EQ plates on the top/side, that came on a lot of guitars..lol.. I would like to have a none cut away version, OM sized, with no electronics from Taylor. That would be a nice guitar.... For me and what I like... Loved the video and man... you do nice work.

They always seem to have pickup systems don’t they? They must let people special order them without. I’ll probably be removing a lot of broken systems in the future and patching the 3 holes in the side. Stay tuned.

Can't wait to see that.

Great vid! And fun little diddy at the end there. 😉 What's your take on the difference between bolt on and glued necks? Sonically speaking?

Thanks Sammy, BILT on vs. Glued? My ears cannot tell the difference

Considering future neck sets do you think Taylor is the way to go? I have a Yamaha that needs a neck set and cost of reset Vs price of a new guitar a new guitar would be the least expensive way to go. So thinking future repairs what is your recommendation? Thanks

Yes, I highly recommend Taylor.

Although after thinking about it I am 65 I will be dead and gone when any guitar I own needs a reset LOL.@@harpethguitar
