Appreciate Taylor's constant, cutting edge, willingness to explore.

Played one at a Guitar Center in Salem, Oregon a few days ago. Loved it! Great sound and very light weight. Definitely a notable step up from my GS Mini.

Nice review. It handles a Drop D tuning very well, but would have liked to hear it in standard tuning as well in order to capture its "true" depth of timbre in that tuning. The Taylor website states pricing at $1,399 for GT and $1,599 for the GTe. It will be interesting to see what the "street price" ends up being.

I think that is the street price. At least that’s what Sweetwater has them listed at

Teja, i am intrigued by your comment that the Taylor GTe is the perfect learning guitar. I am a beginner taking the Peghead Nation beginner course and thinking about my first “step-up” guitar, especially because my current guitar makes my 62 year old hands and fingers very sore. I am concerned that the small dimensions of the GTe might be a disadvantage for a learner over time and perhaps i should look for a full sized guitar like the Taylor AD17. What are your thoughts?

Hi Matthew - The GTs short scale results in lower string tension than on a standard-scale guitar, and it also makes it easier to reach across multiple frets. But since the neck widths and string-spacing is basically standard, there's no real disadvantage in terms of playability. Would you eventually want a full-size guitar? Possibly, as it would have more power, volume, and projection, but there's also no reason why the GT couldn't be a main guitar for a long time. - Teja Gerken

Does this model have noticeably more fret room than the gs mini? I wanted to buy a compact guitar but the gs mini have too little room on the frets for my fingers.

Your demo answers a question that specifications do not: it has a good bass sound. Then again, I mostly finger play. I've listened to 4 other 'reveals' today, and your playing makes me want to try it. What is the edge of the fret board like? Thanks

Fingerstyle mostly?.... why not try ls ta..... or cort L200

Solid wood GS-MIni? Why? Just wondering. Not hating. Just curious.

The GT has a larger body than the GS- Mini. And solid wood will sound better and better with age.

When you plugged in, you should have pluck with a song and then strum it inorder to hear well the tone....... see how L200 cort was advertised in the youtube....

Looks like a GS-Mini...maybe slightly bigger. I'd go with a Koa-Plus first.

It may be the the way you recorded the strumming part , it really did not sound good at all And I was liking the sound prior to that Or you’re just a horrible strummer , haha not sure
