I think with Smith, Allen and Heinicke that we don't need to draft a QB in the first round -- esp. given where we'll be drafting. We should get a shutdown corner or the best free safety available in the first or trade down. Then we can work on linebacker, offensive line and wide receiver later in the draft.

Just like Alex Smith, Fitzpatrick will bring a veteran QB mind to the club for Heinicke & Montez. We'll pick another QB or trade for someone in a few years if these kids don't work out. In the meantime we are patching up our defensive back situation already and probably draft to patch up injury prone offensive linemen. (Unless a top WR is still available). I feel like Ron is building us a franchise that can compete for a SB long term. I think we'll be a playoff team & contender as long as we got Ron.

What impressed me the most about this performance even in the loss is guy can make things happen. He was very impressive 👏 by his ability to read defenses, find open guys, escape pressure, scramble for first downs, throw the ball with anticipation and accuracy. He should be at the very least be allowed to compete for the starting job.
