I recently started an online Laravel Basics course for students at my alma mater, and their reactions have been incredible! As we dive into features like the all-new development environment, Herd, setting up Laravel projects, its powerful ORM, and everything else Laravel offers, they’re amazed at how fast and efficient development becomes. I believe we can all contribute by promoting Laravel through volunteer courses, masterclasses, or by creating KZbin content to showcase its full potential. Let’s show the world how Laravel makes rapid application development a breeze!

Laravel was great few years ago when it was simple and on point. Now it became a super complicated mess with a ton of useless stuff. I made all my homeworks from university at both bacherlor and master degrees and both my graduation project with laravel 7 and vue2. Suuper easy. Now it seems a lot more complicated. It seems that not only Laravel became more complicated without reason, but all frameworks, even Vue3 is harder than Vue2 and they do the same thing. My problem with laravel it is that it doesn't have native WS support like Spring Boot and Net Core. I don't want to run a separated server and config of the server software. I consider that Laravel is perfect if you don't run a bakcend for a bank or something with more than 100.000 request at once. Laravel is still easier than Net Core and Spring. Those behind Laravel should try to push it in the universities more. Now, most university teach either Spring or Net Core because big corproations use these and they are lobbying universities to tech these so they can have from where to hire.

Laravel is an obvious destination for any PHP developer. I think the 'problem' is PHP itself, the focus should be in PHP, as Laravel is such a no brainer. There has been some good content in PHP recently, but still too shy. Young people are naturally drawn to more hyped languages with cool neon computers, slang talking, painted hair youtubers... LOL. We are getting old and boring. Our well fundamented, corporate, long term, business oriented arguments won't make the cut. We need to jump in the trash talking, based, click baiting train to attract the next generation! :-]

Since many controllers use common methods like index, create, store, etc., I created a simple package to handle this issue, incorporating DataTables, permission handling, and CRUD operations to streamline development. This approach reduces redundancy and keeps the code DRY. It raises the question: why not include this functionality in Laravel's core? I'd be happy to share the code with you via email if you're interested
@LaravelDaily2 ай бұрын
Common methods are not so common, there are a lot of individual nuances of how CRUDs should work. I've worked on CRUD generator myself for years, and making it flexible and suitable for everyone is much much more complex than people think. That's why it's not in the core, and devs choose packages/generators they prefer that aligns with their specific needs/project.

Hey everyone, I'm currently working on a Laravel multivendor application and need some help with implementing custom SMTP settings for each vendor. The goal is to ensure that whenever an email is triggered, it is sent using the specific vendor's SMTP settings. I’ve also implemented Queues for Jobs and notifications. However, I’m facing an issue where even though I try to change the SMTP configuration dynamically before triggering the email, it still sends emails via the default ENV configuration. Before sending Email I update config values. Has anyone worked on something similar or come across this issue? Any suggestions or examples from similar projects would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Symfony niche framework?
@theological11272 ай бұрын
I've been using laravel since version 4. Always being a little spooked by job market availability, I recently decided to try django and dip my toes in python. I got through maybe 8 videos in the course before I rage quit. Laravel is without question the most robust framework in existence. In Django, they say that "it comes with authentication out of the box"....ummmmmm NO. You still have to write your routes, your views, AND your controller methods including manually validating the hash of the password in the request. The heck is that? What is "out of the box" in that at all? I genuinely don't understand why laravel with its massive ecosystem of very well developed packages (pusher and socket integrations, the whole spatie library, livewire, lara-excel, etc) is not higher up on the consideration list for most projects. I hope the general opinion of it turns around and it becomes more of a staple skillset in web dev.

Not sure if the analogy is good here. People who worked with Taylor live quite good and happy lifestyles, judging from their tweets. So it's not like Taylor is buying a Lambo and then others don't get anything. Personally, I've bought a new apartment from working with Laravel. I feel a mission that "we're in this together" with Laravel, it feels like a community mission. If you're afraid of "vendor lock-in" then sure, work with more tools/frameworks which would have other "vendor lock-ins" potentially.

i used laravel once, headless, because of wanting to keep my frontend separate. It was ok. Then a project came up and I needed to connect to snowflake. After some frustrating research i realized it was a nightmare to get this set up , basically having to recompile some custom version of PHP for plugins and whatever , i cant remember the exact details .. but it was convoluted. Then looking at nodejs and finding out I can just npm the snowflake package, Then while building with nodejs I discovered how simple so many things are compared to laravel, like handling mailers. That was the last time of caring about PHP and Laravel. Sorry reality check .. its outdated.
@N3m3s7s832 ай бұрын
I respect your point of view but I honestly disagree: you can use snowflake with official PDO driver or at least use ODBC with a custom DSN and both are quite easy to setup on Linux (you should never rely on Windows or Mac when it comes to PHP not for the DX but especially because on production You will get a Linux container or server); docker exists exactly for this; However I am a node developer too and a CTO from over 20 years; I work with other teams that use C#, Java, python and certainly JavaScript. When we have to develop something that involves different teams with their stacks 99% of the time me (and my team) with Laravel we are way faster, robust and safer (yeah experience is a factor too); However we are in the world of micro services and when I find something that is outside Laravel or PHP capabilities (very few times but it could happen) I find very easy to create a micro service or a wrapper only for than need, a craft a "client" for Laravel and deploy that Ms to its container with its own dependencies; furthermore most of the time you need rest apis since Internal http requests are very fast and used a lot (for example kubernetes use http a lot). So you can have a win-win (joy of Laravel 99% of the time and a little MS for niche); Btw: mailers in Laravel (not php) are super good
