I can't tell you how much it makes my cold black heart pitter patter when almost every single male reactor who has reacted to all three of these songs with the understanding that they all go together say "Okay, that was an amazing way of tying it all together and the songs were fantastic but he's a douchebag and she shouldn't get back together with him!“ You guys are like alien unicorns and we must protect you at all cost😂

A little trivia for you. Taylor is close friends with actors Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) & his wife Blake Lively & she is also their children's godmother. Taylor used their daughters' names in these songs, Betty, Inez & James, (his eldest daughter is named after Ryan's dad). LOL They just had baby #4 so I'm sure there will be an 'Olin' someday too. LOL

Soooo goood!! You catching the “don’t know anything” compared to “they assume you know nothing” was awesome. It’s crazy how age gets weaponized on both sides of that issue. But also: of COURSE Betty is fighting to be taken seriously while James is excusing his immaturity.

There are a ton of her songs that have lyrical connections to each other, but this trilogy and then Tis the Damn Season-->Dorothea from Evermore are the only ones she's directly confirmed. One of her best storytelling songs in general is All Too Well (10 min version), and it references The Moment I Knew (both from the Red album). I don't think it's super important to listen in a specific order for those, but All Too Well looks at a whole relationship while The Moment I Knew focuses on one particular moment. Dear John (from Speak Now) and Would've Could've Should've (from Midnights) are both fantastic songs that pair together so well, and should definitely be listened to together. They're likely about the same relationship- one written at 19 (her age when they dated), one at 30/31 (the guy was 32 when they dated). Another really nice pair is the song Red (from Red) and Daylight (from Lover). There's a direct and really beautiful lyrical connection in those. But really there are so many connected songs in her discography, it's hard to know where to stop.

Both timestamps are 13 seconds away from 3 minutes, 13 is her fav number and she puts it in her songs multiple times:) Also: August, Betty, Cardigan= ABC Parallels: High heels on cobblestone” -> “I was walking home on broken cobblestones” “When you are young, they assume you know nothing” -> “I’m only 17, I don’t know anything” “Stopped at a streetlight” -> “Drunk under a streetlight” “And when I felt like I was an old cardigan - Under someone’s bed - You put me on and said I was your favorite” -> “Standing in your cardigan” “To kiss in cars and downtown bars” -> “Kissin’ in my car again” “And you’d be standin’ in my front porch light” -> “Will you kiss me on the porch In front of all your stupid friends?” “Just thinking of you when she pulled up like - A figment of my worst intentions - She said “James, get in, let’s drive”-> “Remember when I pulled up and said, “Get in the car” “Those days turned into nights - Slept next to her, but” -> “And I can see us twisted in bedsheets” Thanks for the reaction!

she said in a talk she gave about producing 1989, that when she was writing, she didn't hear it as country music -- it just came to her as pop, more and more, and she didn't fight it. for 40 minutes of her talking writing / producing albums to 1989, search for her name and "Grammy Pro" and you'll find it; the four museum solo performances are tacked on the end, a bit out of order, so the whole thing is a bit longer than the 40 minutes. She intro's Blank Space and OOTW; but she does a lot with her voice memos in the talk.

(I have a favor/song connection question for you at the end). I’m so happy that you knew about the love triangle and how each song was made from a different perspective. You’d be surprised at how many people think she’s just singing about herself and another ex-boyfriend because she couldn’t possibly have anything else to sing about 🙄. Dozens of people didn’t bother to read the plethora of our comments where we really try to help content creators out so they can make a better video based off of the true content. You’d be amazed at the amount of creators who NEVER respond back to us. “AB the Kreator” is a good guy; never makes one response or even likes a comment. People spend time on their information, so to not even get a like is rude and hurtful. Thank you for being so AMAZING! You truly care to make sure you have as much information as possible and to really digest what she’s talking about. It means a lot to me (us) when we find a gem of a person like yourself. You asked if we had any other song connections… I really think that “Peter” and “I Look Through People’s Windows” (both on TTPD) are connected and written from each of their own perspectives. Then on “Cardigan” (which you’ve already done, so you’re already one step ahead), the “Cardigan” lyrics say: “Cause I knew you Steppin' on the last train Marked me like a bloodstain, I I knew you Tried to change the ending Peter losing Wendy, I I knew you Leavin' like a father Running like water, I And when you are young, they assume you know nothing.” **I would REALLY APPRECIATE AND LOVE to hear what YOU think and analyze about potential connections. Pretty please. 🙏🏻 Lol. There’s just too many lines that match up to be a coincidence. How many things are a “coincidence” in Taylor’s lyrics? Not much! It would not be the first time that Taylor does a call back from one album to another. Thank you for the insightful reactions of this beautiful trilogy. So well done!! Chefs kiss. 🤌🏻 Have a wonderful weekend. ☺️🎤

👏🏻👏🏻She didn't alter the song for the performance -- she released a "clean" version of the album for country radio (she never used to swear in her music). 😲🙄 This performance at the ACM is the version charting on country radio. Her Long Pond Sessions has the original lyrics; and the album version has her harmony layers and additional production from Aaron Dessner. Also, she did her own hair and makeup (clothes are Stella McCartney?). Still in Covid lockdowns, so no audience and she has to distance herself from the harmonica player. Interesting how she does the silhouette with dark background -- sort of like some of the City of Lover performances in Paris in 2019.
@emmavink
@emmavink Ай бұрын
Well... I mean... That is an alteration to the original lyrics if the song 🤷‍♀️ a clean version implies that it wasn't the first version, so, yes, the original was edited.
@robertthompson7242
@robertthompson7242 Ай бұрын
@@emmavink she released it the same day, so whether it is "edited' is a distinction without a difference. She often alters lyrics to suit a particular audience when she is live; and she's been doing that since she started. Since she released an entire album on Apple Music as a "clean" version when she dropped it in the first place, I expect she wrote it _intending_ to release different versions.
@emmavink
@emmavink Ай бұрын
@@robertthompson7242 that is called an alteration. You wouldn't need a clean version if an original explicit version didn't exist.

stopped at a streetlight // is another link back to Cardigan / drunk under a streetlight . Except, of course, a 17 year old is underage, and shouldn't be out drunk at all, let alone driving. 🙄🙄 At the end of the Cardigan video -- the cardigan sweater she puts on to warm up is sized waaay too big. It's his. In the film, she says in her head, she took him back (and never let him forget it).

Yes. James is an absolute shit. I LOVE the way you picked up on it so early on Cardigan when you pointed put that "putting someone on" can also mean being fake or tricking them. Imagine sleeping with a girl who was probably a virgin for an entire 2-3 months... When you already had a serious girlfriend... And then treating both women like they were convenient for the moments you wanted them in and as objects you could EASILY discard when it suited you. Being 17 has nothing to do with it. James isn't a good person. I will defend that evaluation any day 😂
