The whole point of our videos, isn’t to get “things right”. We aren’t experts. We are 2 guy’s listening to a song for the first time. With no context other than the ones we have naturally at this stage in our life. Thus, we are “reacting”. Then we talk. We riff. We go on discussion tangents. If you want a channel that worships and studies your artist like we are in a religion you may need to go to other channels.

So guys, artists too have the right to grow and mature like everyone else. Taylor called out toxic masculinity in her relationships. Being manipulated and emotionally abused by someone 13 years senior when you’re 19 or someone in Red album who again older than her and again did the same, or someone discard her on the phone then talked shit about her to the media…. However she wrote about other relationships whether Harry Styles of Taylor the actor and they were not angry songs quite the opposite and she has good relationships with them. People need to not build on the media trope that she trashes her exes. She’s an artist and has the right to express her feeling when hurt or has been abused or manipulated, especially for women like her, it’s vital as society asks them to be polite and nice and quite. So don’t do that! Just like Kelly Clarkson has the right to write about her dad and backstabbing husband…. Artists process emotions through their art, it doesn’t mean they will go on hating those relationships forever. TS made peace even with the one who talked shit about her because they both grew up. John Mayer clearly hasn’t

You're both just fine with your reactions. My God some people just can't wait to be negative on their keyboards❤ If they don't like things just be polite, don't comment and move on. Stay safe guys.

Fun fact: Taylor and Joe wrote this song together. I highly agree with Nathan, the best way to move on after a breakup is without dehumanized the other person, as Tay said in Happiness: "There'll be happiness after you, But there was happiness because of you, Both of these things can be true..."

In Taylor's defense, she really only "demonized" an ex who have cheated on her or mistreated her. She didn't do that to Taylor Lautner & Harry Styles. The new "You're Losing Me" explains her breakup with Joe. Anyway gents, thank you for another reaction.

I don’t think she was demonizing a love interest. If anything she’s demonizing herself. Listen to the lyrics, not the drama.

GUYS this song is completely fictional! Nobody got demonized here. I mean it kinda happens in the song where the family of the guy say "what a shame she's fucked in the head" but other than that, just a story

This song is not about Joe and Taylor. It's a fictional story about a guy who proposed to a woman who said no. Unfortunately, he proposed in front of family and friends. People thought that she was f------d in the head but with real problems in the world, they thought that those were champagne problems. Near the end she said that she hopes that he finds someone who will accept his proposal, accept his mother's ring and whose picture he would carry in his locket, etc. She did not demonize him. Not sure where you came up with the demonized thought while listening to the song. It was far from it.

Not to put words in their mouth but they’re probably thinking about how the man’s family demonized the would-be fiancé…. Saying that she’s “fucked in the head.” Just a matter of perspective. U clearly didn’t consider theirs 🤨

Taylor only 'critisize' her exes in a songs IF they did bad things to her. Those who treated her well, got 'better' songs (IF she want to write about it) like Back to December.. BUT i also agree with u that the public (especially fans) shouldn't demonized anyONE (except for dear John..Jake..Kanye..Kim..🛴..Justin..... 😅😅😅😂😂).. 💜💜💜

You two are going to love Evermore - seriously. Just incredible writing and storytelling. It’s brilliant and honestly very Dad-coded. While most songwriters no doubt pull from their own emotions for their art, this one was not considered autobiographical. And while “Happiness” was a great and guttingly mature breakup song, there’s definitely also a lot to be said for artists having the space to write about all the different emotional impacts of relationships and life. But I do love that the narrator here is the one who might be painted as ‘the bad guy’ when there apparently was no true bad guy - just complex people doing their best. Though I’d add this song should stand as proof of why public proposals are probably not a great idea.:) And if the number of views doesn’t tell everyone what a fan favorite this is, then the sheer volume of the extended standing ovations that Taylor’s performance of this is getting on the Eras Tour should show how near and dear this song is to many Swifties’ hearts. BTW, once it’s legally streaming you might consider reacting to “You’re Losing Me”. That one likely is a bit more autobiographical and… welp... I don’t even know what’ll happen if she performs this one in one of this weekend’s shows. Do they even have counselors at Met Life stadium?

This song is from the perspective of a woman who deals with mental health issues. She was aware of her health and didn't want to make him sufferer. Somehow by the time of the proposal, he has told his family about her health and friends. that's why it mentioned "mad house" and "I made a joke and it was made for me" and "You told your family for a reason you couldn't keep it in" and also "ever green our group of friends, don't think i will say that word again assume they have the nerve to walk the deck they once did"

Joe was very private when they were together,I doubt he’s gonna chance that with their breakup. For Taylor it’s to get out her feelings,not to send people to go after whoever in some way.

If you guys are going to completely ignore the lyrics, you probably shouldn't say shit like she's demonizing a relationship when she's literally doing the opposite. Also, this song isn't autobiographical

@WelpHereWeAreOnKZbin ok but you could've done that for a song where it made sense lol. Like if I'm listening to Twinkle Twinkle Little star and then use that as a spring board to discuss how artists use music to cope with trauma everyone would be like "huh? That has nothing to do with the song". And rightfully so
@gigin6534
@gigin6534 Жыл бұрын
@@WelpHereWeAreOnKZbin you can do that and pay attention to the lyrics. It's pretty easy. If it's not your style to pay attention to the lyrics, that's fine. But presenting an opinion as a fact is just not good. "She's demonizing a relationship" is maybe an opinion, but it's not factually accurate to the song. It's really that simple. If you're gonna talk about artists using music as therapy, that's completely fine. But at least bring arguments that make sense with the song you're reacting to. I usually like your reactions, but if you can't take criticism, then it's probably for the better that I don't watch anymore. It's not really the type of reaction videos I like.

Evermore is one of the few albums in the history of music I consider to be PERFECT. For reference, I consider Dance Fever by Florence and the Machine to be a perfect album 😊 There are many layers to this song. The one I think you maybe didn't consider is how society doesn't like women to say no. Especially to something like a public proposal. But in this fictional scenario, she only realises they aren't right for each other when he does the public proposal. A gesture she completely didn't believe in. Evermore deals with different endings in such a mature, balanced and considered way. It's truly wonderful 🥰

My thoughts in this are that art isn't the same thing as like, a deposition in court. Obviously songwriters are writing from their own experience, but I'm aware as I'm listening that it's a moment in time or a subjective experience and it may even have elements of fiction wound in among the real
@blue_bird13
@blue_bird13 Жыл бұрын
i think if you’re going to react to evermore you need the context that most of the songs are completely fictional! like folklore, the majority of songs are about characters that taylor made up and created stories for. she mentioned that it was nice not to have write about her own personal life for once and could get lost in a fictional world. given that both albums were written in lockdown, creating them was her escapism during that time.
