Not sure if this would clear up the question of if she "sits down and tweaks" BUT if you watch her AT&T special for reputation and some of Lover she IS very involved in the production part. NOW I do not know if that is what you are referring to, but that is what I took from the tweaking, yes she is NOT the one pressing the buttons BUT she is the one with the idea of the beats and the general sound of the song and giving the thumbs up or not to a certain thing done. Again I could be completely talking about a whole different thing than what you meant.

Well stick around then because I've got a lot of content like that in the works! In the meantime, here's my first real KZbin video ever, which explores my backgorund in/relationship with jazz guitar: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gGO1fJ-Ep6yFocU

I too am a classical trained, but if you ever watched making the music she starts all songs either piano or guitar. Any of her songs can be stripped to acoustic performance. While you have a valid point you may not have all your facts..

Can you say more? I don't think this is inconsistent with the points I make in the video! Maybe I should ask: what is it that i said specifically that you disagree with?

Also, here's an interesting dialogue with a Taylor fan on Twitter that clarifies some of my thoughts! twitter.com/jord_call/status/1486074676094906381?s=20

I strongly disagree. Have you tried to play any of her pop songs on a piano? The choruses are literally one note melodies. They're as basic as it gets and they only work because of the production. Those performances you mention are boring and forgettable, because the melodies aren't strong enough to stand on their own without the production.
@JordanCall2 жыл бұрын
@@NawiTheCore i think this gets to the heart of the debate! What's doing more work here: the production or the song writing? With a lot of pop music it's hard to say and/or a matter of taste or opinion!

Let's do away with art as a whole. So many different genres. How can we keep up. Obviously I'm kidding, but Damon is off of mine. As for Taylor, I can't count how many times I sang her songs with my daughter while she was growing up. Never had her on my Playlist, but she evokes so many happy memories for me
@NawiTheCore2 жыл бұрын
I understand what Damon meant when he said co-writing isn't the same as writing. He's thinking of people like Beyoncé, who change ONE word and get a co-writing credit. I love Bey as a singer and a performer, but she isn't much of a writer nowadays and yet she still gets co-writing credit. I do think that Taylor writes a huge chunk of her songs on her own, but a huge part of what makes Taylor's music successful is production. If you play the melodies of her songs on a piano, they're EXTREMELY basic. Without the work of her producers, her music wouldn't be as successful as it is because she isn't that good of a composer. She's a pretty okay lyricist though.

Yeah it's a huge issue in the music industry, artists are often given far more credit for songwriting than they deserve (and the main contributing songwriters too little) because they feel it helps their image. It's almost like they have ghostwriters, even though you can see credit given to the other songwriters if you search up the song.

She is on video composing on the piano all by herself, Melody chords, etc., not much diff than Pharrell’s method. Production is irrelevant because songs can produced in unlimited ways.
@iand6544566 ай бұрын
She has no production.look at the credits on her songs. She writes lyrics. Someone else writes every other instrument for her. Absolutely no creativity.
@ivybaxter4896Ай бұрын
There are so many videos of her creating her music and sources the show the credits on each song to prove this absolutely false. Do five seconds of research next time.

On 1989 she did an interview about 3 different ways she writes a song. One us starting out with lyrics first, but no real melody or music track. The next is taking a music trak then writing words for it. I cant rememebr exaclty the other way, but she does explain it.

Michael Jackson had Quincy Jones. Elton John had Bernie Taupin. And Taylor Swift has Jack Antonoff. Don't confuse music with lyrics.

In most cases, I'd rather prefer Taylor's songs in their "basic" form.

Ooh, very interesting! This is like the thing they said about Let It Be: "produced by George Martin, over-produced by Phil Spector"
@Beanmaster732 жыл бұрын
Shellback and max Martin wrote her most popular songs, she probably just wrote the lyrics and maybe a few chord progressions, but max martin and shellback did all the heavy lifting.
@richmaxmchalliwchester19842 жыл бұрын
still a lot ideas about production is from her head. I'd say from all i heard and saw that around 65 - 70% of the song is always created by Taylor, other 30% is producers.
@smokeyjayshouse10 ай бұрын
She sings songs someone else wrote with music tracks others composed. Most songs these days are made this way sadly. Fans are just gullable.
