People that don’t know Taylor, don’t realise that she can really sing, the girls got pipes, but it’s not the only trick she has up her sleeve, and she prioritises her lyricism and storytelling over the need to belt, which makes it more of a treat when she does it.

no. it’s ok to admit she don’t got pipes. BUT she CAN sing. just not SANG. she’s a great artist, GOAT status. for sure

One thing u gotta do when listening to Taylor is throw out any preconceived notions you may have about her bc otherwise everything is going to sound weird coming from her. Her talent is being able to switch up genre and sound bc her roots are in songwriting, meaning her pen is all she needs. She doesn’t find it hard to flow through music types. That’s why reputation sounds so different from her debut which sounds so different from 1989 which sounds so different from folklore etc etc. I found once I did that I could really get into the album and I LOVED reputation (the album this song is from) so so much more bc I just enjoyed it for what it was, not what I thought she would sound like!
@em1321
@em1321 Жыл бұрын
It doesn't sound 'weird' from her. You just have zero clue about her music, so it doesn't sound to you like you would expect from her. She's been in the business for 18 years, and she switched genres so many times. She wrote and sang country, pop, electro pop, indie folk, rock, gospel, acoustic, rap etc.

One genre I really want to see her take on is a full project of modern R&B (think Miguel, Coco Jones, Victoria Monet) like a more stripped-back and even flowier offspring to Midnights, and that's not just me being a huge R&B fan too. The poetics and emotions really jumps out with this sound and False God, Maroon, Peace, and So It Goes shows she has the potential to pull it off to an even higher degree. I know she can push herself to.

If you are looking for more of her live vocals, I’d recommend: -Any of her performances at the Grammy Museum, especially Wildest Dreams -Cornelia Street Live in Paris -Holy Ground at Formula 1 -Don’t Blame Me from the Reputation Tour -anything, literally anything from the 1989 tour video…she was so good there. (My favorite is wildest dreams/enchanted mashup) *PS, Taylor has many “growly” moments, especially at the 1989 world tour that are a lot like the one in this video (I know she does it in We Are Never Getting Back Together, I Know Places, and Out of the Woods, off the top of my head).

When these ppl say "I'm not a Taylor Swift person" .... First, no one cares, second, the idea they have of her is so pathetic cause they repeat what others say. She is a nice person that has worked so hard for being here. She is so fucking talented and productive. There is no one like her!!

6:58 it was 😂 She can totally belt when she wants to. Check Don't Blame Me live from Reputation Stadium Tour if you want vocals. Taylor can sing (and do it very well) even if some people refuse to believe it. She has a very wide vocal register (from A2 to E5) and her lower register is one of the best out there. She prefers to write her songs in chords she's more comfortable with because she wants the focus on the lyrics, but she can belt out whenever she wants to.

Yes that growl was Taylor. 2015 - 2018 was time when she was growling a lot. Taylor is a songwriter, she writes all her songs, everything that ends up in her song was her idea, no producer has power to make her do something she doesn't want to. People need to forget their stupid assumptions about Taylor when they listen to her music. That girl actually can sing and i'm fucking tired of people pretending she can't, Is she one of best vocalists in the world? No not even close to that, but she can hold her own and sing all her songs without any problem.

More please!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 I’d suggest songs but I’ve already seen some of the “if you liked this, you’ll LOVE this” songs suggested (and fully agree with all - live performances of don’t blame me, death by a thousand cuts, out of the woods, WANEGBT, ANY of the folklore long pond studio session performances, etc), but honestly, they’re all good - any song on any album, just pick one and there’s a pretty safe bet you’ll like it. Taylor is one of a kind and has gained the popularity she has, in my eyes, because she’s the only artist for which I can listen to every single song on every single album all the way through and enjoy every second of it, no skips - all albums are solid through and through - and the only people who disagree tend to be those who simply haven’t given her enough of a chance and have refused to listen to any of her non-radio/non-single stuff (which only have a bad rep bc they’re overplayed which doesn’t mean they’re bad songs or that she’s a bad artist). I’m so ecstatic every time I find a new person starting their Taylor journey because it’s sure to be a beautiful one 🥹 bahahaha it’s so cheesy but idk….if you know, you know. And if you don’t, you will. Thanks for your reactions and looking forward to more!! 😊🤗

Taylor has improved a lot vocally since 1989 era. Her voice became deeper and she did lots of growls, which the fans absolutely went insane for. As she grew older, her voice really aged like wine, she could do lots of lower register and so her music style changed. Though due to rerecording purposes where she had to channel her youthful energy again to reproduce her old albums, she mixed up her old and new styles. In other words, I believe what you had in mind regarding Taylor is extremely outdated (no offense) so I'd suggest, forget the Taylor you had in mind and be more open-minded whenever you're exploring more of Taylor's projects. You'd be surprised by how versatile she actually is.

I get where you’re coming from when you say you’ve only heard the one side of Taylor based on really only hearing the more “popular” songs of hers, but I do suggest when you have the time and feel open minded to go and give her discography a listen. I think you’ll be surprised by not only her vocals, but her songwriting skills. Any final copy of a song is how she wants it to be from start to finish. She’s a part of every single detail. I would suggest you give Midnights, folklore, and reputation a full listen. The three of them really showcase her voice, songwriting, and versatility. If you still don’t like her music, then you still don’t like it. That’s why there’s all different music out there. I do respect you for admitting you really aren’t a fan of her, but giving two of her songs a listen. I enjoyed watching you listen to them and comment on it and I actually looked to see if you posted any more Taylor Swift reactions and saw you didn’t. That’s okay. I still enjoyed a few of your other videos and you got a new subscriber who happens to be a Swiftie 😊 Also, I did start laughing when you went back to look at her and said “Hold on. She looked good there!” 😂

The song is to someone she was lovers with who also had a big reputation. At this point she had already been framed by Kanye and Kim as a conniving liar and cancelled on social media. They'd ruined her reputation hence the name of the album. It's Kanye, Kim, Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta she's talking about when she says, : "Ooh I've got some big enemies". This song is her story. She doesn't have to make it up or "get hood with it" It's the truth.

You should watch Taylor Swift: the making of a song. It will help you understand how much of this song is her idea vs “the people in the studio.” Not throwing shade, I get why you said it sounds weird for (you to) hear her say that. I honestly think you will be shook when you realize how much of the song is done by the time she invited anyone to come in to the studio and help her develop it into a finished song. Actually, allllll the making of a song videos will touch you in the feels, just coz it’s so beautifully raw and authentic. Much of it is her straight crawling out of bed and stumbling to the piano to get it out of her head before she forgets. It’s my favorite footage of her hands down 💪🏼

Her songs really do become addicting like heroin. And I love it! I’ve talked with so many ppl my age, Taylor+1yr, who say “I accidentally became a swiftie.” To which I say, me too. I started getting more of her songs mixed in on my Spotify.. then would go searching up lyrics of songs in my head later. They were hers. When I listened again, I fell in love with the songs, soon I found myself knowing more than 60% of her song. Still discovering & loving. My friends and I joke about being soft core swifties bc we don’t know what qualifies 😂

Ed can actually rap rap. Don’t get me wrong he’s no like Eminem or Kendrick but dude can actually rap. Especially his live stuff. He tends to mix in raps into his music and it’s just him and his loop pedal and guitars on most stages. I’ve seen him live maybe 4 or 5 times. Ironically first time was opening for Taylor swift during the red tour. He blew up in America because Taylor had him for her opener. And they’re still close mates. He just has a wife and baby in England now and she’s busy AF.but if you haven’t done Ed live you really should. His earlier stuff it’s a bit hard to understand bc of his strong accent but he’s def gotten easier to understand lol. He’s so British. I have a dope story about him and Mac Miller and Ariana grande because I live in Pittsburgh. Worked at PPG and wrote about our nhl team so I was leaving out the arena as mac and Ariana were walking into his dressing room. I tried to remain chill but I semi fan girled out a bit. Dude was just smoking his weed and chilling lol.
