I just wanted to say thank you for all of your beautiful comments. I feel so emotional reading them all. I can’t believe so many of you feel connected to us, some of you even through tears. Taylor's songs hit different when you're an introspective adult, who's been through some things and can relate. Happy to have partecipated in this therapy session with you guys! folklore and evermore are just this glorious collection of stories that somehow we all just connect to and they allow us to feel and live in those feelings for a handful of minutes at a time. And by the end we find emotional catharsis at the tailend of this year. Taylor has gifted us a way to find hope for a better future and frankly we all needed this. She is a master songwriter. And as a writer I never feel more inspired than I do when I've listened to these past 2 albums.

Also, in Marjorie, her grandma is actually listed for backup vocals. Her grandma was an opera singer and you can hear her singing in the background during parts of the song. There's a theory that Ivy is based on the poet Emily Dickinson's lesbian affair while married to her husband. And given the time in which it took place, this song is even more heartbreaking. Sonically, the changes Taylor makes in the chord progression in the final verse is practically orgasm inducing.

Yes this album got me through my wife spending 11 days in ICU with Covid and she might not come home, and also my younger and only brother died from fast spreading lung cancer. It been a sad and emotional time this whole past year. FOKLORE came out in June I think and EVERMORE in Dec.Both these albums really helped get my mind temporarily a place to relax and to be transported to the characters and lives in these songs. No one else can write a song or melody that paints a picture in such a way that you're right there with that person in her songs.I guess thats why she's number 1 with me and her voice is so beautiful and can convey that story she's singing about. Thanks for listening to me go on and on!

Yea that quote like holding onto hate and bitterness towards a person is like drinking poison and expecting it to kill the other person. The older I've gotten the better I am at letting go of the anger I feel towards people who have left or breakups and stuff. We're choosing different paths and we're both eventually gonna find happiness again, even in small things as a sunrise. Happiness is just a gut wrenching yet beautiful song, that acknowledges the hurt, yet also acknowledges that hope❤ and with Marjorie, i briefly knew my great grandmother before she passed away, but my family has all of these amazing, beautiful stories of her. So its like I really knew her, like I was there before her decline in health. I so often wish she were still around causs she was like the families glue but those stories we share of her keep her around.

@@mariamst2096 i dont know, she seems to talk to her affair in that song and saying stuff like 'drinking my husbands wine', 'he wants what only you have' and 'he's gonna burn this house to the ground (if he finds out)' rather give me a vibe of maybe an abusive husband who is may be choleric sometimes..

It's actually about Emily Dickinson and her secret lover Sue. Sue married Emily's brother so that they could always be close and no one would suspect them. And there are letters from Emily to Sue where she closed out the letter with "for Evermore". And Taylor released the album on Emily Dickinson's birthday.

I spent nearly 7 years being tolerated by a man I thought was the one. I did everything I could to make it work. I left my family, my home country, moved across Europe to be with him and all he ever did was tolerate me. Track 5 hit so hard. And I’ve still not managed to “lose the weight of him”

Thank you so much for sharing 🙏 i’m so sorry that you’ve had to endure this kind of pain ❤️ It may take time to heal but remember at the end of a dark tunnel there is always a beautiful light that is your beautiful future waiting for you. Step into it knowing you are deserving of the same love you give away. Better things are coming 💕

@@diaryofcathyjane thank you for your kind reply, it means a lot. I don’t know how I’ll ever move on, it’s been a long time already and I feel like I’m only going backwards. I think this is the wound that will never heal. I know I deserve so much better than a man like that, who thinks he can cheat and lie and treat me like I was always a hassle and a burden. He literally has nothing to offer me. So why do I feel the way I do... 😔

Why do Taylor and Joe like writing sad/break up songs together?!? (champagne problems, coney island and evermore--he played the piano for this one) 🤨😏😂🤣

We are living during the changeover from the Age of Adam to the Age of Eve. The world is not yet aware of the forces being unleashed by the wonderful young women like yourselves, Taylor, and my four granddaughters. I just want to be around for another twenty years to see it all happen.

Since no one mentioned it Tis the Damn Season was written while she was drunk and some reviews have said that Tolerate it is already sad, but it gets even worse when you look at it from the point of view of a girl coming out to her dad and the dad just tolerating it, especially due to the lyrics "my love should be celebrated, but you tolerate it" everyone seems to be taken back by, their opinion being that the lyrics are talking about how a homosexual love should be celebrated but non accepting people only tolerate it instead of supporting them.

I think Coney Island is about a relationship and the good times then, in Coney Island there was hurricane and the bridge is remembering the memories that once were there and then the end going back and seeing that it’s not the same. After the hurricane, Coney Island was rebuilt but the town surrounding wasn’t and they weren’t able to rebuild the arcade (sorry for not winning you an arcade ring) and the merry go is gone. The song is about remembering what once was with double meaning (relationship and a place that holds memories)
