I’m about to leave the longest comment of a lifetime just because I love this album so much and I feel like talking about what songs could be about make them even better haha: Literally every song on this album is my favorite song like I cannot pick I am OBSESSED idk how she even exists but lemme tell you some very interesting things I’ve read/theorized: So for the love trilogy: cardigan is from betty’s perspective YEARS later saying that “Peter losing Wendy” is like young love is frozen in your mind at the age you broke up like they don’t age, august is from the other woman’s perspective “you were never mine to lose” “cancel plans just in case you called and said meet me behind the mall”, and Betty is from James’s perspective BUT I think this is ALSO all triangle between the fans, her music, and Scott/BMR with cardigan being a love letter to the fans “when I felt like an old cardigan under someone’s bed (in the time where she got canceled), YOU (the fans) put me on and said I was your favorite (musician)!!! August is about losing her albums (you were never mine to lose), and Betty is what she wishes Scott would say to her to make it better My tears ricochet is definitely about losing the masters to her music when Scott Borchetta/BMR sold them to Scooter Braun “cursin my name, wishing I stayed” “stolen lullabies” “crossing out the good years” Epiphany is partially about her grandfather in war and also about the pandemic and BLM you were right about that, the breathing in and out is on a ventilator and a pandemic is something led school did not cover Hoax could also be about Scott and maybe the 1 too Mirror ball is to joe and the fans and “trying anything to keep you looking at me” is about how long we will “tolerate her being successful” as she put it in miss Americana, This is me trying I think is about when she was canceled before rep “I didn’t know if you’d care if I came back, I have a lot of regrets about that” Mad woman is def about Kim and Kanye Robbers to the east, clowns to the west is scooter and Kanye In peace she says “give you a child” and sounds pained and in hoax she says “my barren land” and I’m scared that means miscarriage or infertility Also in cardigan she Is starting off by mentioning her previous eras Vintage tee, brand new phone (1989) High heels on, cobblestone (red) Sequin smile, black lipstick (rep) Sensual politics (lover) I get chills every time I hear “and then it was bought by me” on the last greatest American dynasty bc like she rly thought to write a song about the people that bought her house before her and exile is the best thing I’ve heard like omg I love the conversation in the bridge and hearing “you never have a warning sign,” “I gave so many signs” I love the lyrics “chase two girls, lose the one” and “hell was the journey but it brought me heaven” and “stood on the cliffside screaming give me a reason” and “I didn’t have it in myself to go with grace” and “take the words for what they are: a dwindling mercurial high, a drug that only worked the first few hundred times” and “I’d give you my sunshine give you my best, but the rain is always gonna come if you’re standing next to me” I love this album and her so much I could talk about it forever and I’ve been doing nothing but reading theories and watching reactions and listening and this is what I have so far and I’m sure there’s still so much more to unpack

the other woman that tells the story of august from her perspective is inés, she is mentioned in the beginning of betty "you heard the rumours from inés" otherwise, your theories are amazing and i think they could all be true

I'm totally agree with you, and I think this is so funny that you could also imagining the album story is started from TLGAD which she found out the story of the owner of the apartment, Rebecca, which could be called Betty. I'm not sure if I' ve made my point. Hope you'll like it.

Your faces every time you heard a really good and/or sad line 😂😫😭 same. This album is so so good, and I think what’s really great about it is how the songs can grow on you so much on a second, third, etc listen bc a lot of them are slower, so if you’re not in the right mind for them, or just tired, they can not hit you as hard. But the more you listen, the more there is to take from them. Honestly, classic Taylor Swift. I loved your appreciation for Seven and Mad Woman, especially! Thanks for reacting! 💗

Loved your reactions. It’s almost the 1 yr anniversary of folklore’s release. I think it ages like a fine wine. Some songs you didn’t vibe with as much (Betty, TLGAD ). you guys should do a 1 yr revisit to the Forrest and you could add evermore to that list. I think both these albums age well. I’ve seen a couple folklore revisits.

Richard Hogenson yup and we praised her for that on many occasions :) we loved the album! I wasn’t expecting/looking for pop music, it’s just my personal preference for songs of this style to veer from the baseline sound at some point, just a personal preference, but I never said I disliked any of them :)
