I don't know how anyone could hear Happiness and not hear the absolute magic that was woven into that song. A song about love, loss, and something rare-- amicable divorce or separation. Feeling the pain and hurt , acknowledging it, but also recognizing that that person brought you happiness. Also recognizing that you brought them hurt and happiness too. This song is nothing short of a masterpiece. Surpassed only by Evermore.

I am also shocked he called it a skip, HOWEVER, if you haven’t been through a truly painful and meaningful breakup/divorce, I don’t know how much you could really relate, so that may have been a factor here. I know this is a super late comment but I’ve recently been rewatching all my fav videos of yours and I have to say-I will never be able to listen to marjorie without sobbing. I lost my grandmother this past january and, being her only grandchild, we were super close. She would always mail me cash and a handwritten note once a month because she was truly just so generous and wanted me to have everything I wanted. The day that she passed away, I was driving home after mourning with my family and thought that I should check the mail. I also happened to have miss taylor on shuffle because…when do I not? I was going through my mail in my car and the second that I stumbled across her letter, marjorie started playing. That was her last letter to me, mailed just a day or two before she died. As marjorie played in the background, I couldn’t even comprehend the letter-I was just sobbing over reading her handwriting. That song is everything to me, especially the bridge. “I should’ve asked you questions. I should’ve asked you how to be.” I’m not very religious but I do believe in signs and that sign will stay with me for the rest of my life.

So after unpacking evermore, did it grow on you? I enjoy listening to it more than folklore, although I think folklore is flawless. Evermore has more variety, she expanded lyrically IMO and experimented more. There are some bops! Cowboy like me grew on me and I love it now. I think evermore is the perfect closer. Anyway, curious your thoughts now on the album that youve had a chance to take it all in.

oooh interesting question...it *has* grown on me but I still prefer folklore as an entire work. there's still quite a few too many skips on evermore for me, but I love it when she tries something different. Just me watching this like 3 years later cause Im diving deeper into your channel. Im so glad you love tis the damn season which is my favorite of evermore! Funny that dorothea is so boring, when it's the other side of that story, but dorothea was one of my surprise songs at the Eras Tour, so it has a little special spot in my heart now. She was beaming the entire song, like so happy, so I cant begrudge her that! Also we got Last Kiss, which is one of my top two so yay for Kansas City night 2 (incidentally the day Travis Kelce came to the show, so that's a funny connection to everything going on right now). Anyway, I enjoyed your reaction. evermore the song is amazing! And I'm going to continue to watch your old videos.
