I wonder if being isolated, away from the spotlight pressures, has allowed Taylor Swift to forgo worries about marketability and pop and make the music she actually wanted to make, with folklore e evermore.
@trevorkeith38134 жыл бұрын
I was thinking about that too. Ever since she went pop, it seemed like she was mostly a product of a record label that still let her have some say in what happened. After Reuptation's huge disappointment, they tried to capture the Taylor of before in the pop vein still with Lover but failed in actually making anything authentic. She was on her way out of the spotlight (not that spotlight isn't everything but she was going out with music only her fans seemed to care about). So I think when the pandemic hit, they just let Taylor do what she wanted. I think they knew that only she could save her career.
@Ty-mu7gl4 жыл бұрын
@@trevorkeith3813 I agree to an extent, but Taylor literally founded her own management team. She made “rep” and “Lover” because she wanted to, not because someone else forced her to go in that direction, especially “Lover”. In 2018-2019, she wasn't under BMG's terms and conditions any more, which gave her even more freedom to make whatever she wanted. I completely agree that she was slowly fading away from the spotlight with “Lover”. It's a great album for me, but I get people think pop music is dumb and boring and whatnot. “folklore” and “evermore” not only got her back to the forefront of the music industry, but they also gave her something she never had: full respect for her raw talent. They pretty much cemented her as a powerhouse artist.
@trevorkeith38134 жыл бұрын
@@Ty-mu7gl ah cool. I didnt know that. I dont listen to her all that often (except for folklore and evermore) and mostly just hear her singles but the songs from Rep and Lover just sound so unlike her. They may have also been less popular cause she didnt use Max Martin. Im not a huge fan of pop, i only find is "less" of a genre because of people like Max Martin. They literally craft songs that are meant to be liked but it makes all pop music sound the same. They've kinda turned pop music into something its not and now everyone aims for this sound so they can get a shot at fame. (At least for Radio pop music). Which is a reason i kinda stopped liking swift is that she went pop and ive not liked her music since it aimed to be this Max Martin sound

I found Folklore to be the more dreamy album while Evermore feels more grounded in reality. Maybe because Folklore had a bit of dreampop elements in it like Mirrorball and This Is Me Trying? I personally prefer the dreaminess, but I loved Evermore. I also agree in that the first listen, Evermore just felt like a ton of B-sides left over from Folklore, but after the second listen, I feel now that it can stand next to Folklore rather than an odd leftover attachment. Something I found interesting is that a lot of people hate the tracks others love, and vice versa. For example I found that Closure definitely made a place in my mind because of its borderline industrial distorted beat, contrasted with the piano and Taylor's soft singing. but eh, people will feel differently.

Btw I had never seen this video before. Was subscribed but now hitting notification bell. And I do prefer folklore but I like to call it folkmore. Evermore is like really good b sides. Also COWBOY LIKE ME IS TOP TIER!!!!!

Is Taylor Swift low-key bringing alt-rock back to the mainstream?

stream 'tis the damn season aka the alt-rock smasha

Dorothea is such a vibe and tolerate it is one of her best track 5. Evermore is much more mature record than folklore. And I think people aren't appreciating it more because it comes after folklore ( which was a completely different sound for Taylor). They always go into evermore thinking it's folklore's leftovers..
@ridhochikal83394 жыл бұрын
Nah, I don't think this is a leftover when listening to the album yet it is still worse than folklore. Folklore high peaks are higher than evermore and evermore lower points are waay lower then folklore.

@@Kumar-hc5pb still not that strong I've heard the album almost 10 times this past 3 days. Folklore caught my attention on the first play, it made me feel a lot of emotion, including nostalgia (even though it was still new at that moment). By that I don't think evermore will grow much on me

She totally rewards the long time listener. The connections between evermore and folkmore, all the way to the "The Story of Us" from Speak Now. I love both of these albums. evermore feels more exciting because it's new and fresh, but I know that I will continue to go back to folklore and every album before it. no body no crime is FIRE! The folk feel of ivy and its lyrical nature got my brain hooked! I lost my grandmother last month, you could bet anything that marjorie makes me cry every time.

I think a lot of this has to do with my mood now vs my mood in july but I am enjoying Evermore a lot more than folklore (which is amazing in its own right) I actually do hope the rumor of there being a 3rd album is true because I want more.

Does the instrumental of Closure remind anyone else of Fever era Panic! ?
@ronstoppable56594 жыл бұрын
I wish I could give an opinion on that, but I can’t because of how horrible the mixing is, seriously it sounds so amateurish, like a wannabe producer that gets inspired by hearing a Kanye song once, but forgets that he’s producing a slow alt pop song, so the result is that beat and the pianos clashing horribly
