GUYYSSSSS!!! We are SO OVERWHELMED!! I think we can all agree that NO ONE expected her to do this to us a second time this year!!! 💀 We were so ridiculously excited and in disbelief when we woke up at 4am and realised that Taylor had announced she was dropping a folklore sister record - EVERMORE! 🍁🍂♥️ Every single song on this album is utter perfection and we can’t believe it! She has officially made it clear to the entire world that she is the most talented songwriter and storyteller in existence today. She has blessed us so hard this year! And now we are just petrified at what she’s gonna do next and when it’s going to happen. She can do ANYTHING AT ANYTIME! Thank you so much to all of you watching and especially to those who thought of us and reached out to say you were excited for our reaction as soon as this album was announced 😭 we love you guys so much and are so thankful that we have this Taylor stan community here feeling all of the things with us!!! In Coney Island she references all of her big ex’s: Jake Gyllenhaal: “were you standing in the hallway with a big cake, happy birthday” was a reference to him missing her birthday, like in “moment I knew” John Mayer: “did I paint your bluest skies the darkest gray” which is a reference to “Dear John” in the line “you paint me a blue sky, then go back and turn it to rain” Harry Styles: “and when I got into the accident” is a reference to “Out of the woods” “remember when you hit the breaks too soon, twenty stitches in the hospital room” talking about the snowmobile accident they got in together. And Calvin Harris: “but when I walked up to the podium I think that I forgot to say your name” could be a reference to him not crediting her for TIWYCF which obviously became a big thing after It was announced that she helped write it and it triggered Calvin so much. I was so excited when you guys connected that, because the other reactions I saw no one else really seemed to pick it up and I thought it was so clever! :))

... Do.... Are you trying to argue that Tolerate It is about Joe?????? Joe is not "so much older and wiser". You can't just ignore her super intentional context clues. She's said the story is inspired by the novel Rebecca. So if it was about any of her relationships, it would be about Mayer, Gyllenhaal, or most likely about Calvin Harris. Your guys can't just make shit up to suit a biased narrative. The only song on this album that could be coded as a hindsight Joe break up song is Happiness. Especially in the context of So Long London where she still wishes that he finds love in his future. She doesn't care if the man in Tolerate It is happy in his future.
@ManateeGhost6 ай бұрын
@@emmavink I can see that you comment a lot on people's posts defending the "true nature" of songs, and I think that's great that you're so passionate! But I promise my comment is not that deep, nor am I “arguing” anything. It's simply saying that the girls assumed that Taylor and Joe were fine, throughout this entire album. Not just tolerate it specifically. My joke was that now that we have TTPD, maybe they weren't as fine as we thought they were. I was taking one line that they said and applying it to the information we got from this new album. Hope this helps you understand my comment!
@emmavink6 ай бұрын
@@ManateeGhost I understand and I mostly agree and I appreciate your insights. I just commented here because you time stamped during Tolerate It and because Emily and Bonnie still mention Tolerate It as being about Joe up until their TTPD and The Anthology reactions. I would argue that Taylor uses words extremely specifically and that ignoring context clues in the lyrics should be flagged as an issue. I am more than happy to accept that songs like Happiness (still can't fathom how this was confused for a Scott song 🙈) and Coney Island could have been pointing to things not going well for Taylor and Joe then already. Not Tolerate It though. That song is so specific to a big age gap that for me, it would be almost like arguing that Would've Could've Should've is about Harry Styles. That's just not what the song is. Hope that clears up my motivations 😊

this is obviously late but if anyone sees this: i have never seen anyone mention this before but the beginning of Gold Rush is layered harmonies to sound enchanting and ethereal and the lyrics are about sinking ships but staring into the most beautiful eyes and not caring whats going on around you (and leading to death) which is alluding to mythological sirens who lured sailors to rough waters with their beauty and angelic voices and the sailors would die… she’s saying Joe is a siren luring her into “death” with his beauty and kind words of love for her and then it cuts to her saying “I don’t want a gold rush” so she’s talking herself out of it but then the end is the angelic part again meaning he lured her and she’s sinking.

"When did your winning smile begin to look like a smirk" Haven't seen this interpreted this way yet but this is how i understand it -- you know how when you fall out of love, you begin to hate things you used to love in a person? Like, little quirks you used to find cute or adorable starts to irritate you. Nothing really changed, it's still the same smile, but you just started seeing it differently because you're feeling differently.

The "random" noises in Closure represent all the discord and messiness that happened in the relationship, but with the piano comes in, it covers it up somewhat, showing her music helped her defend herself from the trash.
@kaceeharrison37154 жыл бұрын
Yea. I think it's kind of like the piano and the words of the song represent how she thinks about it, she can see things clearly and she knows what's good for her, but the crazy sounds represent the emotion in it, and just because she understand don't mean her emotions don't get to her sometimes.

In "Long Story Short" she says "I always felt I must look better in the rearview, missing me...". That totally ties in with the lyrics in "Wildest Dreams" where she wrote "say you'll remember me, standing in a nice dress, staring at the sunset, babe. Red lips and rosy cheeks. Say you'll see me again...". She always felt like her actual value/beauty of character couldn't be realized by a partner until they were looking back on the relationship.

This is BY far one of the most chaotic yet absolutely(almost scarily) planned reaction ever. I mean… the whole set up, from the aesthetics to the person off screen reading what meaning of the song and the lyrics makes this so not 2 dimensional like so many reactions are. It takes the cold “1 person and 1 camera” vibe and make it warm and fuzzy and entertaining. Excellent niche you gals have found. Wishing you TONS of success!
@juliabradley22544 жыл бұрын
I actually think Ivy is about the relationship between Emily Dickinson and Sue Gilbert Dickinson (her best friend, lover, and unfortunately her sister-in-law) and since the song mentions the fear of the husband finding out fits into it. In fact, one of Emily's poems that is believed to be about Sue ends with the word "forevermore". Also Taylor announced evermore on December 10th which is Emily Dickinson's birthday. I just feel like there are too many comparisons for it to be a coincidence!
