You probably remember back when Kanye went up on stage when Taylor as a 19yr old accepting the VMA award? He told everyone that Beyonce should have won the VMA instead. That started an uneasy history between them. They patched up the awkwardness, and Taylor became sort of friends with him & his then wife Kim K. Years alter, Kanye called Taylor, and in a 20 minute convo that he secretly recorded, he told her she was in his new song Famous, and wanted to 'clear it with her first'. Trouble is he didn't tell her the full lyrics in which he would say that she owed him sex & that he 'made that bitch famous'. While uncomfortable with the portion of lyrics he did share, Taylor thanked him for reaching out to her. Kanye said he'd send her the finished lyrics before moving forward (he didn't). Then he got down to the real reason he called her. He asked her to promote his new album to her fans, and she politely declined. After the call, he would go on to release a music video in which he had a naked figure made to look like Taylor posed in bed with him & other naked figures, also, the song itself wasn't the 'fun', tongue-in-cheek reference he claimed it would be. My guess, he was pissed she refused to push his album, so got vindictive. Once released, Taylor's PR called him out on the song. He responded that he'd called & got permission. She came back with that she never heard the full lyrics, and certainly didn't agree it was ok to call her a bitch. Kim K then released an edited clip of the phone call making it appear that Taylor was lying. Kim, Kanye, and their backers on social media started a blitz calling Taylor a liar & snake--that's where the snake motif comes from. The avalanche of hate got so bad that Taylor withdrew from public life completely for almost a year. She had some emotional issues dealing with all the hate directed at her not just from the public, but by various media organizations who picked up the narrative and came for her too. She would spend that year writing her next album, Reputation, and make a comeback that was a big FU to all those haters. About 4 years later, the entire phone call would be leaked, and she would be vindicated, but there was never an apology from Kanye, Kim or any of the various media outlets. It's easier to spread hate than admit when it was misplaced.

Thanks for sharing all that!! I believe Kanye did tell Taylor what he was going to say.... except, he did NOT tell her he was going to call her a Bixch. She actually said, "Atleast your not saying anything mean...or calling me names"...l and I doubt she liked him saying he made her famous. Imridntnhearbthe whole call. I heard it was 50+ minutes total. He obviously put the nude manikin of her in his bed because she wouldn't promote his song. She told him using that word to describe her was misogynistic. Which she was against.

She says in her Miss Americana documentary that she, the old Taylor, had built her worth on what people's opinions of her were, and that she had to figure out her value as a human being when everyone hated her. Hence, the old Taylor is dead because the new Taylor does what she wants, and knows her value is what she thinks of herself. You captured that in your analysis.❤❤❤❤

This was the first single/video she released after disappearing for over a year following the Kim and Kanye drama with the hashtag taylorswiftisoverparty. Kanye released his song “Famous” that had the line “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex Why? I made that bitch famous,” and Taylor came out and said she never approved these lyrics (also the music video has her naked in a bed with Kanye), but then Kim released a secretly recorded video between Kanye and Taylor that makes it look like she did agree to the lyrics, so they made her look like a liar and started that hashtag. Taylor then disappeared for a year thinking no one wanted her around anymore, but then unexpectedly dropped the reputation album with no warning (there will be no explanation, just reputation.” However, I believe it was back in 2020, an anonymous person released the full video, proving that Kim edited the video to make it look like Taylor was a liar. Really, in the video, Kanye says he wants the line to be “I think me and Taylor might still have sex,” and never mentions calling her a bitch. On the phone call, you actually hear Taylor say “it’s not like you called me a bitch or anything.” But after the full video was released and proved her right, no one said anything or apologized to her about how they treated her.
