Aria Lockwood I think it's because the song rants depend on an overly literal, intentionally obtuse interpretation of the songs that kinda undercuts the attempt at comedy. It comes across as very self-congratulatory, late-80s edgy pseudo-cleverness, like "look at me I'm a jaded guy who's far too cool and smart for pop music, my cynicism and knee-jerk loathing of anything top 40 is sooooo witty and hilarious." So many People complaining about this and song rants. I personally enjoy these song rants more than parodies. They can express how they really feel about the song and/or artists in these. They do that in parodies to some degrees sure but these are different and more entertaining imo
