Taylor's boyfriend is British actor Joe Alwyn. They've been together for four years, and every love song on both reputation and Lover are about him (as well as invisible string and peace from folklore). He stuck by her through all the crap the world and the media dragged her through. We Swifties adore him. Also, Soon You'll Get Better is about Taylor's mother, Andrea Swift, and her battle with cancer. The Dixie Chicks are Andrea's favorite band.

The Chicks used to be The Dixie Chicks. Soon You’ll Get Better was written about her mom who was diagnosed for a 2nd time with breast cancer and then they found a brain tumor. This is a forever song for me. It's about her Mom, but my mom was a breast cancer survivor of 25 years. We celebrated listening to Lover the Album together (my mom and me). She was diagnosed with glioblastoma in December 2019 and died April 11, 2020. Interestingly, on Folklore, I break down about my mom when Taylor sings Epiphany. These two songs along with Best Day bond me to the woman TS forever. I will her mother life every day.

Listening through my mom's ears, something you'll do, I suspect, will be what gets you. May music help heal and feel what should be felt. I hate that people rush grief and tell people, "it's okay. it will be okay." It's not. It won't though life goes on. Feel your experience and give it the time it deserves. She did a beautiful LIVE performance of Lover on BBC’s Live Lounge. You will love it. The MV for this too! Lover was a single as was The Man, You Need to Calm Down, and ME. ME was meant for young kids who weren’t feeling very good about themselves when they sing it. So if it feels ‘childish’ it’s written for a specific audience in mind. You Need to Calm Down was aimed mostly at people’s lack of tolerance, especially online. It is an anthem for the LGBTQ+ community and the MV has a ton of gay cameos (plus a few other specials 😉) in it.

Sorry to keep adding but since you mentioned the politics, Ms. Americana and the Heartbreak Prince was her first true political song in reaction to the 2016 election. When you checkout the documentary, make sure to watch the whole song she wrote for the end credits, no doubt it’s a song directed at the gop. ACTUALLY most of her songs before folklore, were on her perspective, the lover album is dedicated to her bf of 4years, Joe Alwyn.. ALSO some info before you go to REPUTATION... This is her comback album after she was CANCELLED because of that 'kanye and Kim' drama, where they made her the 🐍, AND that she was the LIAR, so after that she didn't really explained herself, she went away from public eye for 1 year, then came back with REPUTATION, BEST COMEBACK :) then earlier this year i think, the full phone call was leaked, showing that TAYLOR WAS TELLING THE TRUTH, AND THAT kanye and kim were the REAL SNAKE 🐍

I am compelled to say that while some songs are dedicated to him, cruel summer and cornelia street are about her relationship with karlie kloss, however you interpret that relationship to have been (romantic/platonic). This was her first album after having her master's stolen from her by the same dude managing karlie, who didnt make a statement when swift was asking for support and trying to get them back. They used to be super close, then that and fans/media hounding them contributed to their relationship breaking down 😥
@lulue.5655 Жыл бұрын
@@mikiwilliams4133what makes you say they’re about Karlie? ‘He looks up grinning like a devil’ seems to be abt a man… plus the context of it, sneaking around, that points to her and joe’s relationship early on when she was not fully done w TH. And Cornelia street definitely has romantic undertones, not just platonic, to which Taylor has asked everyone since the beginning not to ship her w her friends as it makes her uncomfortable, so to say that song is about Karlie would go against these wishes.

LOVER REDEEMED TAYLOR FOR ME. I was kinda iffy with her during 1989 and Rep. But this album proves that she has grown so much and have matured. Especially with songs like YNTCD and Afterglow. YES- live version of Lover exists even on Spotify and actually listen to it more than the album version. Also prefer the First Dance Remix because if makes me feel so inlove even without a boyfriend. 🤣 Lover has a remix too with Shawn Mendes, but I don’t care much for it. Also fun fact about Soon You’ll Get Better, it’s about her mom battling cancer. She didn’t like to talk about the song in an interview because of how personal it is. But she decided to perform this song during an online lockdown concert for Global Citizen. Another is that It’s Nice to Have A Friend is actually sampled from a school music for kids in Toronto, so she supports them by doing this 🤍🤍🤍 I love Lover. So much. I could cry. My faves are Afterglow, Lover, ME!, It’s Nice to Have A Friend, and Daylight!! The rest are all tied as second faves 🤍 Pls do a video on Katy Perry’s Smile too! Personally think it’s this year’s most snubbed album and definitely deserved waaaaaay more ALSO- re artists who write their own songs and do it greatly, I recommend Carly Rae Jepsen and Mariah Carey

So glad you are getting to know Taylor. Every album has a different vibe, different sound. She doesn’t stay in the same box. She has played Lover live several times, but my absolute favorite live version is the Live from SNL performance. I absolutely love it. It’s the most intimate and raw version and it’s great. Her boyfriend is in the stands and she looks over at him and smiles. Miss Americana is the documentary, it is very very good. It is worth watching. It shows a lot of her writing Lover and Reputation tour. The documentary also chronicles at length why and what inspired her to write Only The Young, the song she allowed Biden-Harris to use for their campaign. Genius. You see in real time the moment she came up with the hook. Behind the scenes of Reputation is Behind the Song with maybe 6 or 7 songs. There is a Making of a Song: Lover. This is a short video discussing how she wrote the song. Of course she is known for live performances and her music videos which are iconic. Cornelia St live from Paris is spectacular as is Death by a Thousand Cuts, and she plays some of these songs also live BBC live lounge. Yes, Cornelia St is a true story. Most of these songs are about her boyfriend Joe.

I can't wait to hear your cover of Lover! Lover is often listed by other artists as one of the songs they wish they would have written themselves and you can obviously see why :D Also, can I just say, that I vibe with YOU so much as a person. I can tell you are a real empath and I love that. Thanks for the content and the smiles. Can't wait for your next Taylor reaction video!

This album has yet to have a tour sadly because of COVID, it was scheduled for this summer but was canceled. So I guess she wrote the album Folklore instead for us. But she did do a concert in Paris to promote this album before COVID hit that was recorded and put online. It has Lover live acoustically kzbin.info/www/bejne/larZfpudZ9V_nJI

Dude, I'm so poor. I'm a writer and come from a family of musicians. I am so adoring your reactions, and I want to share your joy in music because I experience that same delight. I want to be one of your patrons, but I am so stinking poor. I may have to do it, though. It's the genuine quality of your knowledge, lack of pretension to how you share, and playfulness all while bringing intelligence to analysis. Thank you for sharing your response. Wait until you get to Taylor's Red. And, well, yes. Enjoy Red. I was going to add a few other of her albums, but they are all great. She keeps getting better, but she's always been great. Enjoy your ride on the T-Swift Journey.

I think nobody mentioned it, but soon you'll get better was written by Taylor to her mum, who has cancer and has been dealing with it for a while now, is a really emotional song for her and it's with her mum's favourite band the Dixie chicks

Death by a thousand cuts she wrote about the netflix film 'Someone Great'. She said she wanted to write a sad song to prove she doesn't need to be sad to write a great break-up song, and this film inspired her

I have been a fan of reaction videos for awhile but have frequently gotten annoyed with “music coach” reactions because they get so bogged down the whole time in the perfection of the voice. I’ve heard people criticize when a singer feels emotion during an emotional song *insert eye roll here* I recently stumbled on you and you’re by far my favorite. As a trained singer and a human with ears, obviously talent is important when listening to an artist but as you’ve said- lyricism, emotion, authenticity are what make an artist enjoyable for me and what connects me to a performance. It’s not always about perfection, I think some of that emotion and authenticity get lost when all you care about is purity of vocal sounds. Thank you for appreciating artists for their artistry and not just perfection.

Watched your folklore react last night and woke up and watched this! Seen a lot of Taylor reactions but hands down your videos are the MOST the articulate , detailed and impassioned dissections of her music and songwriting!!! Dig it bro!!!! U a new swiftie 😍

Lover is my second favorite album (after 1989) and is one of the most underrated albums of hers by even the fans. The only albums I really don't care for too much are her last 3 (midnights/folklore/evermore or whatever it was called)
