Taylor and the Haim sisters have been good friends for many years now, in addition to having collaborated with her on this song, opened for her in various of her shows, they participated in the Bejeweled video clip. A trivia one of the Haim sisters,Alana is also an actress and was the lead in an acclaimed movie called Licorice Pizza

So the cool think about English Teacher KP (her channel's name too) is that she was also a teacher for a long time and she approaches the lyrics and songs as if she is analysing a poem with a class in real time. She points out different figures of speech, different references to other fiction in the lyrics (which Taylor does quite a lot of), different uses of grammar and diction and discourse analysis. And she definitely tells you what she has or hasn't listened to before. It really isn't a reaction channel I would compare you guys to. What English Teacher KP does is different. I enjoy your videos and both of your interpretations (right or "wrong") and your insights for what they are and for who you both present yourselves as 😊

"No body, no crime" isn't necessarily literal; in general it just means that you shouldn't be convicted without evidence. In this song, the first pass through the chorus is Este saying that she believes her husband is cheating on her even though she has no hard evidence; it's all circumstantial. Second pass through the chorus is Taylor's belief that Este's husband killed her, again without hard evidence. Third pass through the chorus is the general public's belief that the mistress killed the husband (partly because she took out a life insurance policy on him), together with the mistress' belief that Taylor killed him, but neither view can be proven.

I haven’t seen anybody mention that the Haim sisters play the evil stepsisters in Taylor’s Bejeweled video.

As always, enjoyed your reaction. On BBC Radio 1 Haim did some really great performances (covers & some of their own originals).

I think the English teacher stops after every verse and analyzes it. She gives herself the time by stopping the video A LOT ❤
@Artisian12656 Жыл бұрын
Most of the time she stops as soon as the first line of the song starts, lol.
@emmavink Жыл бұрын
More accurately, she starts her analysis usually before the song even starts because she talks through what the name of the song suggests, could reference, what the words mean, what tones or connotations they could be inviting the listener to capture, etc.

One of my faves Taylor's mini noir story. Its so filmic and atmospheric. Fab reaction Ryan, and good point about reactors who pretend not to have heard the song before.

I don't know if we're talking about hte same English teacher, I don't know if there are several teachers on youtube reacting to Taylor lol, but the one I think of, I think her name is English Teacher KP, she's been a fan of Taylor, so she heard some of the songs, and she says when she heard it and when she did not, also when it's named "reaction" she goes in blind, when she heard it before she names it "analysis" or "revisiting *blablabla*". Otherwise yeah, what are people suggesting here, try Gasoline by HAIM ft. Taylor, I will be forever ashamed that I didn't recognize Taylor's voice in the song from the start, like it took me a sec to realize that she's singing the whole 2nd verse and not just background vocals hah

I love Haim's songs Falling, The Wire, Want You Back, & Forever.. if you ever end up reacting to them 😊 They have a very cool kinda old school vibe, especially for their live performances. I think you both would like them

In my opinion this song is the most folk out of everything on Evermore’s album
@saakshishetty7786 Жыл бұрын
This is not at all folk. Maybe writing is but the production is very country-ish.

Thank you, Ryan for this. Taylor is really a good songwriter, storyteller, vocalist, performer and a wonderful human being despite all the hate and criticism she gets. Incidentally, are you going to her concert when she performs there?
