I actually love the fact that this song is so short and ends kinda abruptly. It makes perfect sense. It symbolizes the relationship taylor is singing about. There was so much effort from her side but at the end she couldn't keep going alone in a one sided thing so she just suddenly stopped talking to him. The song ends abruptly just like their conversations did.

This song reminds me of a guy I used to talk to who lost interest after things were seemingly going well. I think he liked the idea of figuring me out, and once I wasn't a mystery anymore, it was over for him. I remember my mom telling me that I'll find the right one for me someday. These lyrics are so relatable they're scary. To anyone going through this, it does get better

It's so great that Taylor finally gets to own what should have always been rightfully hers and as an added bonus we get all the amazing From the Vault songs which I can't believe she kept hidden away all these years

Can we just all admire her lower register at 0:26 but in the same song hits the high notes from 0:54 🔥🔥🔥 yes she’s known for her songwriting but her vocals should also be acknowledged on the same level..!

I heard this for the first time last night and I've already listened to it at least 50 times since. I think this may be her best song yet, not just lyrically! I've been a huge fan since her first album and there's something about this song, it could have been on Midnights. I wish she would have released it sooner, and made it longer!!! lol

I'm creeped yet relieved due to this connection i deeply feel towards this song. The "I cannot be your friend" part, I can relate in a way like I can't downgrade from a lover to a friend 😂. Idk if it's the true meaning but thats the message I perceived, thanks Tay for this flawless tune
