I actually love the fact that this song is so short and ends kinda abruptly. It makes perfect sense. It symbolizes the relationship taylor is singing about. There was so much effort from her side but at the end she couldn't keep going alone in a one sided thing so she just suddenly stopped talking to him. The song ends abruptly just like their conversations did.

I got ghosted by a group of friends, and I was really depressed. She released Castle’s Crumbling. Now that I’m over them she releases this song that feels bittersweet to what it ended but there’s new beginnings anyway. I feel like she’s watching my life and finding the right time to release her music. Truly a mastermind ❤

Damn only Taylor can write 2 minute songs like this and still pack them with so much substance and lyrical value. The way she can paint such a vivid picture no matter how long or short the song is why she’s the storyteller of our generation.

This song reminds me of a guy I used to talk to who lost interest after things were seemingly going well. I think he liked the idea of figuring me out, and once I wasn't a mystery anymore, it was over for him. I remember my mom telling me that I'll find the right one for me someday. These lyrics are so relatable they're scary. To anyone going through this, it does get better

I guess I'll never, ever know Now that we don't talk You grew your hair long, you got new icons And from the outside, it looks like you're trying lives on I miss the old ways, you didn't have to change But I guess I don't have a say Now that we don't talk I called my mom, she said that it was for the best Remind myself the more I gave, you'd want me less I cannot be your friend, so I pay the price of what I lost And what it cost Now that we don't talk What do you tell your friends we Shared dinners, long weekends with? Truth is, I can't pretend it's Platonic, it's just ended, so I called my mom, she said to get it off my chest (Off my chest) Remind myself the way you faded till I left (Till I left) I cannot be your friend, so I pay the price of what I lost (What I lost) And what it cost Now that we don't talk I don't have to pretend I like acid rock Or that I'd like to be on a mega-yacht With important men who think important thoughts Guess maybe I am better off Now that we don't talk And the only way back to my dignity Was to turn into a shrouded mystery Just like I had been when you were chasing me Guess this is how it has to be Now that we don't talk

I’m happy she is releasing the vault. It isn’t fair as a songwriter to not use everything because there has to be a “limit”. Whether it not fitting the same tone of the album, or whatever, I want to hear all her songs. One thing I end up being sad about is having a favorite artist and there not being enough songs. I hope she keeps making music until she’s bed ridden. I want 100+ songs to enjoy for the rest of my existence.

"And the only way back to my dignity was to turn into a shrouded mystery" No because like she is so real for this line and how it kind of feels like people like the idea of you and the persona you project before they actually get to know you better and then it’s just not the same anymore so you just go back to being strangers ahhhhhh 😭

okay, this song really boosted me up right now, I arrived over here to feel better. Even if it was for a while, it made me feel better and kept me back from calling him again although I'm missing that person sm. I think it'd only create destructions and more loopholes without any endings if we talked again. We both are probably better off without each other. Now that we don't talk.

Verse 1] You went to a party I heard from everybody You part the crowd like the Red Sea Don't even get me started Did you get anxious though On the way home? I guess I'll never, ever know Now that we don't talk [Verse 2] You grew your hair long You got new icons And from the outside It looks like you're tryin' lives on I miss the old ways You didn't have to change But I guess I don't have a say Now that we don't talk Chorus] I call my mom, she said that it was for the best Remind myself, the morе I gave, you'd want me less I cannot bе your friend, so I pay the price of what I lost And what it cost, now that we don't talk [Bridge] What do you tell your friends we Shared dinners, long weekends with? Truth is, I can't pretend it's Platonic, it's just ended, so [Chorus] I call my mom, she said to get it off my chest (Off my chest) Remind myself the way you faded 'til I left (Until I left) I cannot be your friend, so I pay the price of what I lost (Of what I lost) And what it cost, now that we don't talk [Outro] I don't have to pretend I like acid rock Or that I'd like to be on a mega yacht With important men who think important thoughts Guess maybe I am better off now that we don't talk And the only way back to my dignity Was to turn into a shrouded mystery Just like I had been when you were chasing me Guess this is how it has to be now that we don't talk
