What I love about coney island is how in the bridge she uses visual lyrics that points to some of her most iconic break up songs with her most well known break ups... Did I leave you hanging (taylor lautner back to december) Big cake, happy birthday (Jake Gyllenhaal for the song the moment I knew) Bluest skies the darkest grey (john Mayer... dear john) When I got into the accident (harry styles in out of the woods I believe) When I forgot to say your name (calvin harris... I forgot you existed or when she did not mention him in her award speech)... Like that stuff is so cool. Also I noticed that the lines taylor sings in this part are calling back towards times she felt she needed to apologize and the ones that the guy sings are pointing to times she felt she deserved an apology. She is a lyrical genius.

I'm always waiting for the next part. :) I really like your reactions especially the Taylor ones. It's great to see you paying so much attention to the lyrics. And you're right that her songs don't have to be about her personal life anymore. With Folklore she started singing about other characters and storys and she took it to the next level with Evermore. I can't wait for the next part. Please react to the bonus songs as well. And maybe you can react to her Apple songwriter of the year interview from last year. She talks about the writing process of Folklore and Evermore. It's long but I found it very interesting. Especially when the lyrics are important for you. coney island is a song about all of her exes like "were you standing in a hallway with a big cake, happy birthday" reference to Jake Gyllenhaal from "The Moment I Knew" (Red Deluxe) "Did I paint your bluest skies the darkest grays" reference to John Mayer in "Dear John" (Speak Now), "When I got into the accident" reference to Harry Styles in "Out of the Woods" lines 'remember when you hit the breaks too soon, 20 stitches in a hospital room" and when I walk up to the podium, i think that i forgot to say your name" reference to Calvin Harris the time she won AOTY for 1989 and she forgot to mention Calvin in her speech.

I 90% agree with this and am so thankful that another TayTay fan is getting it right. Honest open discussion here: I believe the reference of "but when I walked up to the podium, I think I forgot to say your name." Is reference to Calvin not acknowledging Taylor for writing/helping with "This Is What She Came For" and that's why ever since folklore, she has thanked him for either her muse or co- writing

Ivy is for sure my favorite song! Is so good! Yes, is about a person having a affair while being married to someone else😁 Coney Island has a very complex bridge (some people think that is about different situations in previous relationships of Taylor) And it makes the song so special! For Ivy, before I read anyone else's take, I always took it as her not referring to cheating, but reflecting on memories of past lovers. She's engaged and happy, like really happy and secure and so she's able to look back on these memories of the good times with these past lovers (those relationships are dead and in the grave) without it feeling wrong because there's no danger from them anymore. She doesn't want to go back, but she's going to keep this secret place in her heart for them and let herself enjoy them however she wishes.

I love the song ivy, it’s amazing the imagery she creates in this song, and the clever comparison like the widow goes to the stone and grieves the loss of her husband and she’s grieving for the living almost like she’s grieving her relationship with her husband that they have become so distant that it’s like he has died. Or that she’s grieving the relationship she hoped she would have with this person. And the putting roots in my dreamland. Like she dreamed of being married and having this perfect marriage and this man has now come in and she is in love with him and now this dream of having this perfect marriage is impossible now she’s covered in him . Just incredibly written in my opinion
