Musically, she has had nothing to add to her usual sound anymore. So exploring new sounds and different genres was the best thing ever. I listened to the album and it is so nice to see that the songs turned out to be so good. That speaks a lot for her as a musician. Her songwriting went to a completely new direction, it's fresh and has so much more depth.

So the fact that she collabed with Aaron speaks how much she wanted to respect that kind of music and do it justice. FYI Bon Iver modified some of the lyrics but the demo was already written by Taylor and another songwriter. Aaron also created the melody but lyrics were mainly penned by Taylor.
