Taylor is such an underestimated vocalist. The last 2 years her vocal technique has improved even more and that is why she can sing for multiple 3 hour shows every week and not lose her voice. Her vocal technique is excellent now, and she does have a huge register but she doesn´t use it so much partly because of storytelling and style reasons. Another reason why she is my favourite singer (apart from songwriter) is her vocal cadance and her vocal inflections, that is why I never get tired of hearing her sing, because she makes it interesting vocally too, not just lyrically.

You hit on something that gets missed so often, and it makes me feel crazy that it's not acknowledged. She literally does two new performances EVERY SHOW. Every 3+ hour show!!! That is literally insane. No one has ever done that. I doubt anyone else ever will. The tour has been going on so long now, people take it for granted. I forgive the public for not getting how intense that is for the performer. But other performers know. We need to give her ALL the flowers. It's a feat!

I think the difference with Taylor is she sees herself as a songwriter first that sings the songs she's written. She wants you to KNOW what she is saying, and the I think the main goal of her singing (which she does extremely well) is to impart the emotion of the words. You can hear how she was feeling when she wrote the song in the way she sings it. Whereas artists like Ariana are singers first and they want you to hear what they are singing, the words are secondary. The words, the meaning, and the emotion behind them will always be the most important for Taylor.

She writes her songs like this on piano or guitar before all the production. She’s said that she likes to be able to perform her songs acoustically like she wrote them. She also might have a photographic memory for music based on an interview I saw once where someone said she didn’t even write her song down that they wrote together and then released it 10 years later as a vault track.

the way you described taylor’s vocals is absolutely perfect, and i never thought of it that way! i actually think that’s a huge reason why she’s always been my favorite artist and why she’s always had my favorite vocals out of anyone despite them not being as high or “impressive” like ariana or chappell. the way she pronounces words, enunciates them, and adds emotion is unmatched! reminds me of in Miss Americana when her and Brandon are recording ME! and she’s trying to voice coach him on how to sing “me” so that you’re like sighing out and he just couldn’t get it and even in the song if you listen to his part he doesn’t do it like she does in the doc lol i always thought that was so funny

to answer your question at 5:10, it's a combination of both. she is constantly rehearsing and practicing. she has mentioned at points before that between shows she spends a lot of time coming up with the surprise song mashups and stuff and perfecting them. but she also just kind of has them on hand acoustically because she writes every single song acoustically before they work on production. no matter what it ends up sounding like at the end, it was always originally composed with either just a guitar or just a piano, so a lot of these surprise song performances are similar to the 'first draft' of the song

Playing this song live for the first time in a higher key is also commendable. She does it a lot for the mash ups, which makes sense as it makes it easier to blend songs. But here, here it was just because. And the result is even more haunting than the original.

Taylor said on tour that she sits at home at night after doing the night's work, She said she sits and thinks about what her fans would like to hear from her the next night for the mashup.
@robertthompson72422 ай бұрын
at around 5:15 you talk about her varying the songs each night. This is something she's done on every tour; but in the early ones she did covers (every type of music: rap, gospel, rock, country, whatever she decided she was in the mood for. ) Playing them stripped down with just a guitar or piano, she can simplify the arrangement and concentrate on the singing. And, she could count on her fans to sing along. She seems quick to pick up the chords she needs; if she needs any help figuring out a song, her band has outstanding musicians. Paul Sidoti (lead guitar) has been with her since she was 17; he's some 18 years older . Taylor was always the youngest person around, by several years. That might even still be true -- I don't know know who all is in it anymore. She was aware of the flaws in her voice and when she was a teen, she nearly always had a male harmonizing; Nathan Chapman in studio, Paul Sidoti on the road. It gave a deeper tone, and made her sound less like a tween or a David Seville character (The Chipmunks animations). She could sing where she was most comfortable. there are some sites on youtube devoted to those cover songs and guests at the different shows. One is Taylor Swift Tour Extras, if I remember it right; fan videos of specific songs.

oh, she definitely rehearses for it. like she probably rehearses different songs with a different intensity, if it's a song she used to play a lot in more recent past then she probably runs it once or twice and she's good, but especially if it's either a really old song that she hasn't played many times or a new song, especially from evermore, Midnights or TTPD, she would rehearse it more thoroughly imho
@MarcelleLeiturasPreguicosas2 ай бұрын

I am curious about how she's protecting her voice during this tour? 3+ hours every night, 3 or more nights a week for weeks on end. With just the occasional week or two off. How has she not ruined her voice? I know she may not have the "best" singing voice, when compared to other singers like Adele, Pink, Kelly Clarkson, etc. - but I really love her voice and find it perfectly suited for her music. Her voice has so much character and is so suited to her storytelling style of music.

She's not the most powerful. But she is good. Especially now. But sometimes all the fancy runs etc just take away from the SONG itself. I mean who knows what makes a star but it's like to me a dose of 1 thing you do AMAZINGLY well and then 5 other things you're pretty damn good at. For Taylor I think she's amazing at writing songs that make you FEEL it. I think she's pretty damn good at: singing, playing instruments, marketing/business acumen, showmanship/performance/stage presence, and being attractive. I think she's not great at dancing at all but because she has all the first six it makes the lack of coordination cute.
