@@imthatgirl107 it gets better because of the irony that when you don't grow up, you don't become older. So when she says that not growing up is getting old, it basically is an ironic lyrical masterpiece.

@@AllTheArtsy ... the base tempo doesn't change, but it does become more subdivided. The kick drum goes to 4 in the bar fairly early for the first pickup in feel. The guitar then picks up via the dotted eighth-note echoes toward the end. Nothing gets faster, though.

Why is The Archer so underrated? It's one of the favs from Lover
@shalakaj523
@shalakaj523 3 жыл бұрын
because the song is about nothing in particular. it does not have the usual elements of pop/ heartbreak/ fancy bridges/ sassy lines that become easy to hum along or relate to. this song is more "sit in the dark by yourself and let the song envelope you" type. which makes it underrated.

Combat, I'm ready for combat I say I don't want that, but what if I do? 'Cause cruelty wins in the movies I've got a hundred thrown-out speeches I almost said to you Easy they come, easy they go I jump from the train, I ride off alone I never grew up, it's getting so old Help me hold onto you I've been the archer I've been the prey Who could ever leave me, darling? But who could stay? Dark side, I search for your dark side But what if I'm alright, right, right, right here? And I cut off my nose just to spite my face Then I hate my reflection for years and years I wake in the night, I pace like a ghost The room is on fire, invisible smoke And all of my heroes die all alone Help me hold onto you I've been the archer, I've been the prey Screaming, who could ever leave me, darling? But who could stay? (I see right through me, I see right through me) 'Cause they see right through me They see right through me They see right through Can you see right through me? They see right through They see right through me I see right through me I see right through me All the king's horses, all the king's men Couldn't put me together again 'Cause all of my enemies started out friends Help me hold onto you I've been the archer I've been the prey Who could ever leave me, darling? Singing is about how much do you put on it, is about telling stories, is about set free all those feeling inside of you, contact with your "inner me", singing is a way to go to other spiritual plane and be the best version of yourself couse everytime you get better with your voice you get better in your life, reach high notes it's just a bonus, at least that how I do perceive singing

Your right. I've just recently started to listen to her albums. I knew most of her songs from the radio. Didn't realize her whole album is awesome. Other singers might have a few good songs on their albums then just fillers. But Taylor goes all out on every song, her voice and lyrics, can't find one boring song anywhere. Ordered Reputation and 1989, can't wait to listen to those. Friends at work are big fans, I guess I will be one too. Amazing talent and lots more to come, she is still very young.

I honestly don’t think so, I believe it’s a metaphorical take on Cupid; she’s been a prey to love (so she fell victim to Cupid’s arrow) but also the archer, meaning the one shooting arrows and impacting others
