The mv is basically how the actors had a relationship while filming but she knew it wasn't forever so she is telling him to remember her even if it is in his wildest dreams and we later see that it is because he is already married. I don't know the actual inspiration for the song but I think it was about some fling

“Swift came up with the concept after reading a book by Ava Gardner and Peter Evans, The Secret Conversations. Her premise for the video is that-since social media did not exist in the '50s-it would be impossible for actors not to fall in love if they were isolated together in Africa, since there would be no one else to talk to.[26] According to Kahn the video is based on classic Hollywood romances like Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, as well as classic films such as The African Queen, Out of Africa and The English Patient.” That’s interesting, I didn’t know either!

My take is slightly different in that Taylor's character has fallen in love with her costar, but because they're ACTORS, they keep their relationship strictly professional. And when not shooting, the actor never shows any sign that he has feelings for Taylor's character until the end when she runs out of the theater and he runs after her, which Taylor's character doesn't see. So as far as Taylor's character knows, he has no romantic interest in her and never did, her feelings for her costar are entirely unreciprocated, and she simply couldn't hold her feelings inside at the end there. Which is perfectly in keeping with the lyrics of the song. They only have a relationship in their dreams.

I’m crying tears lol everything flew over your head 😂💀😭 In the MV she’s having an affair with her co-star but she knows that it won’t last so she says “say you’ll remember me, even if it’s just in your wildest dreams”. And well once the movie ended her co-star leaves her. And then it flashes forward to the movie premiere where it shows that the co-star she was having an affair with has a wife. Taylor being heart broken leaves the premiere and her co-star follows after her but she knows seeing him is wrong so she doesn’t return to him.

An important detail imo: 3:12 no ring, 7:35 both wearing rings. So taylor probably never knew about him being married and her getting involved in an affair. And yeah repeated pauses and not focusing on the lyrics made everything go over his head.

When you said that it sort of bugs you that Taylor's "catchier", "not so deep" songs are the more famous ones, here's my response: sometimes it bugs me, but not as much as one might think. People who don't know her judge Taylor based on her singles, which are usually not as deep as album tracks and are made to do good on radio. But honestly I don't really care that she often picks some of the worse songs as singles. Why, you might ask? It saves all the deep cuts for the true fans who actually choose to listen to entire album. It feels like a reward. I don't really care what other people think of her and I don't really care if they only judge her from her singles. They don't always really represent what the album is like, but i'm fine with it. By Taylor putting all the most meaningful songs on the album instead of releasing them as singles with big promotion and music videos those songs become really special among the true fans, because only we really know about their existence. Idk if this made any sense, but it's just a really nice feeling. It feels like she writes the best, deepest and most beautiful songs for us and JUST US, not the public.
@scottbrice6898

@@scottbrice6898 yeah, and another example is 'all too well'. i've seen so many people complain about it not being a single but like??? would y'all really have wanted that??? it's so special right now exactly because taylor thought we wouldn't care about it but we did. it's iconic within the fandom, and it wouldn't be that way if the public knew about it too

She uses the singles to set a vibe of the era, Blank Space/Style/Wildest dreams, Ready for it/LWYMMD, You need to calm down/ME!. All set a vibe, but not the tone or style or lyricism of the album.

You literally missed the reason why the MV is like this because you were so caught up wondering why when you could’ve finished the song first. They are actors who fell inlove on set. It was more of an affair because the guy has a wife and Taylor had a fling with him. She can’t have him because he was not hers to lose in the first place. So she’s asking him to remember her even on his wildest dreams, even if it’s just pretend.

Like many people commented, the song is about a relationship that's not gonna last, but she at least wanna be remembered - even if it's just in his dreams. She doesn't wanna be forgotten and she wants the person to remember the good stuff (her 'standing in a nice dress' etc.). That's why the music video is about two co-stars having an affair while filming the movie and being far away from home. I agree with you that it's not the deepest song, but it's still one of my favourites. Since you did Reputation you should definitely see Miss Americana and Reputation Stadium Tour, it'll all make better sense and it will be amazing I promise you that.

I don't know if you still have this channel but I love your reactions to Taylor Swift. You have these excited, enthusiastic, authentic reactions and it is so very charming to see. I don't want you to think I am being patronizing at all. I'm just quite a few years older than you and you remind me of myself when I was younger, and life threw me a curveball in terms of a chronic illness, which derailed my whole life. I have and still do see a lot of kids or teens, (originating from my old career in healthcare and younger siblings), who seem older than they should be. Whether it's just a persona they project while they try and navigate their lives and figure out who they want to be, with most wanting to be older, cool, and mysterious, so it's refreshing to see someone that brings that youthful, vibrant, energy back and unapologetically so. Please don't change too much as you grow older. I am thinking right now about other songs by Ms. Swift, about these same issues about the human experience. Which is why I wanted to say that. And I don't use other social media really so that's why I have to explain it here. Sorry if that's a little too cringe, but I have to be honest, and from what I've seen of you in these reaction videos, IMHO, you have a bright future ahead so I wish you all the luck I can spare, in whatever your future holds for you. 🤗. The guy is Clint Eastwood's kid I think. Oh and the story IS a little deeper than you think. it's about an affair between costars who are making a film, and have chemistry with each other, as with most films /TV shows, you have these chemistry screen tests, as part of the audition process, to see if the actors can emote enough to persuade the audience to believe the story- that they are playing lovers. In this case, not only is the chemistry right but they do end up falling for each other in some capacity and that's where it goes wrong, because he's got a gf/wife and she is the mistress. So that's why in the bridge she's talking about burning those memories down. Then she's conflicted because she DID fall in love with him ...but he has a wife so she knows nothing can come of it in the end. It really is an epic story for the characters, but she runs out of the first screening because he's there with his wife who he is not going to leave or divorce her for Taylor's character and she just can't take it all in, so she just runs. One of her best pop songs imho, as it has that storytelling aspect that country is all about. And the instrumentals are stunning.

In an interview about this song I remember her saying something along the lines how before 1989 her album, her views towards love and relationships were really romanticized and idealistic. Each person she dated she thought “oh, maybe they are the one. Could this person be it”, but after the experiences of so many failed relationships she wrote wildest dreams to show a shift in her perspective. During wildest dreams her views aren’t about permanency, but rather “when is this going to end”? I know it’s not gonna last but I hope you’ll keep me in your memories.

Ok, the actor is Scott Eastwood, Clint Eastwoods son. The video is taking place on a Hollywood movie set maybe in the 40s about an African Safari perhaps. The actors are having romantic feelings for each other as sometimes happens. She is singing about knowing the relationship will end but also that he will remember her even if its only in his wildest dreams. There is also the word meaning of wildest also referring to Africa as being a wild place full of wild animals and the phrase wildest dreams which is a known phrase.

i didn’t see it commented yet, but the video is a play on the famous love affair between elizabeth taylor and richard burton. she references it again on the song Ready For It. “and he can be my jailer, Burton to this Taylor.” elizabeth taylor and richard burton fell in love on the set of cleopatra. he ended up leaving his first wife sybil for elizabeth taylor and they ended up married, then they got divorced. but they were still so insanely in love that they remarried later. they also did 11 classic films together and were THE most iconic power couple ever. like the original definition of a hollywood power couple. she famously married 6 other times but both of them died swearing that the other was the love of their life. there’s even old love letters that richard wrote her that you can now read since she kept them until she died in 2011. you wouldn’t think a guy like him could write like that but apparently that was the level of passion she brought out in him, because he didn’t write letters for anyone else.

I know this was posted like a year ago, but I thought I’d add some fun facts: This music video is inspired but the affair between Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. These two fell in love and had an affair while they were filming a movie in Africa even though Burton was married. Later, Burton would leave his first wife and go on to marry Elizabeth. Taylor Swift has always loved Elizabeth Taylor, so she used her love story as inspiration. Also, the couple inspired the line from “Ready for it…” “He can be my jailer/ Burton to this Taylor.”

There were theories back then that this song was about Alex Skarsgard, who she was co-stars with in the movie The Giver. He is 6'4, very tall, and handsome as hell. This music video was shot in South Africa, which was where they filmed The Giver. In The Giver, Taylor's character also had dark hair. And this music video is about them filming a movie, which was what they were doing in South Africa. But this song probably is and isn't about him. There was never any confirmation that they ever dated. And most possibly she could have taken inspiration from these events and written a song.

Vocal progression: you need to remember she was a teenager when she started singing and her voice had not yet matured and you can tell in her early albums. As her voice matured, she also worked with vocal coach (most singers do their entire careers), and learning control over her voice thru the years has brought to exceptional vocals by time she got to folklore. So it’s not surprising you feel her vocals are better, practically 8-10 years had passed.

Some people might not think this song is very deep but I challenge that. Just think she is using her own heartbeat in the background there must be a reason. She says “Someday when you leave me I bet these memories follow you around”. She hopes for years that person won’t escape even the thought of her. She also says “And when we've had our very last kiss My last request it is Say you'll remember me Standing in a nice dress Staring at the sunset, babe Red lips and rosy cheeks Say you'll see me again Even if it's just in your Wildest dreams, ah-ha oh Wildest dreams, ah-ha oh” Taylor is asking this person to always remember the best of her even thought they had a fallout that can’t be recovered from. It’s heartbreaking having a past lover who you still remember forget who you are, Like you never even existed. Deep down after a break up you never want that person to just forget who you are, you want to have impacted their lives in some way. Taylor has a song called I Forgot That You Existed check it out. It’s one of her most meaningful songs like Dear John. It’s not a diss track but it’s a diss track if you know the story behind it.

The song talks about a relationship she knows is gonna end, and she asks for the person to have wild dreams about her and remember her even when he leaves her. The mv is about a movie star who had an affair with her co-star during the shooting of a movie, but the affair ends with the end of the filming. They meet again on the red carpet of the release of the movie, but he is with his wife. The relation with the song is there, she knows that their relationship would not have a future but she can’t resist him, she knows she will remember those moments when they break up and she asks him to do the same and not forget her and what they had even if it was for a short period of time.

Supposedly it’s inspired by Alexander Skarsgard. They both played parts in the movie the Giver that was filmed in South Africa and Taylor wore a black wig in the movie which is why she has black hair in the MV. Also Alexander is tall and handsome as hell. They never officially dated though Am I dumb or is the on location movie set in Africa supposed to be a part of her “Wildest Dreams”? Like were they actually there or was that just her imagination and they were really just on a set like the pictured backdrop after the bridge? I feel dumb for not noticing this before, but I guess that speaks to Taylor’s amazing creativity!

Fun fact: Taylor recorded her own heartbeat for the background beat of the song

she did a movie in africa with alexander skarsgard and he is also smoking hot and tall and handsome like scoot eastwood-the actor we see in the mv- it’s rumoured and also there are some photos that they had a fling while they were filming and when the filming over alexander immediately had a girlfriend. ALSO TAYLOR HAD DARK HAIR IN THE MOVIE

Please do Miss Americana soon! Seeing this music video again, please remind me to never get in a fight with Tay. The look in her eyes can kill 😜 (not that I have anything to worry about as there is no chance whatsoever for me to get in a fight with her). I love this mv. Visually it’s so freaking amazing. Pleas do Miss Americana soon!!!!!❤️ About the song. Apparently the beats of the song is Tays own heartbeat! How amazing is that? Please do Miss Americana soon!!!!!!❤️ This guy has a nearly line by line analysis of what the lyrics and the mv are about. And it’s really well done: www.popsongprofessor.com/blog/2015/09/03/what-does-wildest-dreams-by-taylor-swift-mean In the comments on that article people try to figure out who the song is about. Next up, Miss Americana?❤️ You are definitely not overthinking it. This is Taylor Swift we are talking about. She does absolutely everything with a reason. To get to the heart of anything with her, you have to go through it with a fine comb. There is no overthinking when Taylor is concerned. Now that being said, I can’t wait for you to do Miss Americana!!!! Please do Miss Americana. Oh, did I say yet that I would really like if you do Miss Americana soon?

If you want to hear more of the deeper lyrical songs I highly recommend listening to track 5 of each album of her’s, it’s known to be her most vulnerable (other than 1989’s track 5 in my opinion) but you’ve already listed to two of them, Dear John and All Too Well are both Track 5’s.

i’m pretty sure it’s about them falling in love but she’s trying to hold on to that wild dream because they both know it won’t last. when they go to the premier show the guy is there with someone else and she’s trying to not let her feelings dictate her actions but she can’t so she leaves bc she is realizing that it was all just a dream she was holding on to

You missed the red carpet scene wherein taylor saw him with his wife and it shows that he's already a married man and I guess the wildest dreams thing there is that taylor is asking him to remember her in his wildest dreams because they cannot be together in reality. And I think the safari vibe of the video was to emphasize the word "wild" in the title because of the beneficiaries of the video.

My favorite song when I was a kid was a Taylor song called "I'd Lie". It's not well known, and was never even released officially. It's vintage Taylor, and it's really cute, but nobody knows about it. Here's a link to a lyric video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l2nLoaiZgNp9sLM. Seriously, this song WAS my childhood. I would be so thrilled if you react to it.

In this mv, he's married to someone else, but Taylor is his costar that he has a fling with. Later at the movie premier his wife is there as his date and Taylor is forced to realize all of it was just pretend (cuz they were actors). Even though they were hooking up behind closed doors, it doesn't matter cuz it was just supposed to be an escape from reality. The song is basically her saying "say you'll remember me...say you'll see me again even if its in your wildest dreams" She just wants him to acknowledge the relationship they had even if its just a blip in the timeline.

Taylor’s character and her co-star were having an affair while on location for their movie, but he was married. From context clues, I’m assuming she was in love with him, but he didn’t feel that way about her. The chorus is basically saying, after you go back to your wife and real life, you’re not going to forget our time together so promise me you’ll remember me in a good way. You know they’re having an affair bc you see them in their their tent together and then sleeping together and then it also shows them get in the fight on set and the director and camera workers are all annoyed and you get the feeling it happens a lot. And at the premiere you see him with his wife (it shows them holding hands and both of their wedding rings). Tbh I’ve always thought “wildest dreams” was Taylor’s good-girl way of saying “wet dreams”😂😂

When you said about that it bugs you that it's not very deep I thought you should definitely listen to folklore. But to understand folklore to its full glory you need to know more about Taylor's discography. That album is like peeling onion. It can be interpreted in so many ways. I feel like when other people listen to that album they only see love songs from different perspectives where we fans truly know what those songs are. Just like the deep songs are in the album not included in promotion.
