The male Actor in this video is Scott Eastwood. He is the son of "Dirty Harry" famous Actor, Clint Eastwood. The part he is playing in the video is similar to the Actor named Richard Burton. Burton played opposite of Elizabeth Taylor in the 1963 Movie "Cleopatra". Ms. Taylor and Burton were both married at the time. He was extremely drunk the morning of there first scenes together and despite that she fell in love with him instantly. It was well known that they had a tumultuous love affair and had fights on and off the set. I imagine the Movie's Premier must have been even more awkward than what is depicted in this Wildest Dreams Video. The Movie is fabulous and everyone should see it at least once. It won 4 Academy Awards for Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction-Set Decoration, Best Costume Design and Best Special Visual Effects.

Fun fact the name of the character Taylor plays in this video is inspired by her maternal grandmother Marjorie Finlay. An opera singer who inspired Taylor’s song Marjorie on the album evermore. Her grandmother even has backing vocals on that track from a recording her mother found.

This is definitely one of my favorite mv’s of hers, too! Scott Eastwood (Clint’s son) was genuinely excited about playing the co-actor in this. He said “starting with Taylor Swift in Africa? There was nothing to think about.” Love it. Haha. Taylor dyed her hair brown as a small but beautiful nod to her famous opera singer maternal grandmother, Marjorie. Nope, no expense spared on this one. When I saw his wedding ring I genuinely felt bad for her. In a music video. 🙈. Loved the statement at the end of the video that said she’s donating profits to an African preservation society. Classy move. It was SO fun watching your premier with you at midnight! Omg. You made such an AMAZING video for an incredible song. One day, CoS will be in many other countries to make your mvs (if you want). You just need a VERY silent!! Taylor is portraying her Grandmother Marjorie Finley(she also has a song/video called Marjorie). Scott Eastwood is portraying Marjorie s husband in real life. Robert is his name. I think. I am glad you "got" the video. Most people think Taylor had a short lived movie romance with Alexander Skarsguard because she had a tiny role in a film he was in before this song. 👍

I mean that's the beauty of art, generally all interpretations are valid. For me mine was slightly different as well. I watched your livestream for your new video. I love the video! I love Nova, too. Great song! I know it is going to do very well! There is a short clip of Taylor playing at a rubber duck race(Southern thing) for about 10 people. Her Mom would make her ask if she could play at places. She would stay in the car. She wanted to make sure Taylor wanted a music career and learn by hustling, working hard, accepting the rejections and putting yourself out there. Tayor had her Mom drive her everywhere and Taylor would ask organizers and managers if she could play for free. She went to all the record labels in Nashville, walked in and introduced herself to the receptionist and dropped off a demo. She was around 13. She knew she was going to get calls from several labels. That's how naive she was. Of course, no one called. Lainey Wilson, a country artist who just became successful a couple years ago recently said she saw Taylor play at a fair or country music outdoors with lots of big and starting out musicians for 10 people and it gave her the motivation to keep going. It took Lainey over a decade to "make it" but she is on top in Country music now. Of course, Taylor's parents had money to help her with everything that goes along with playing for free. Taylor "made it" fairly quickly but their weren't any artists that young in the Country music industry back then so all the big male bands kinda took her in as a little sister. My needlessly long point was don't give up. I saw you go up to people with your sign and ask them to listen to your bands new song. I thought that was pretty clever! If your band has enough money maybe give out some cds to people you think would truly listen to the music. One person can tell their friend and it keep going. Every new fan counts. Maybe give people a flyer with the bands name and where they can stream your music whenever the situation feels right. That way they remember the name of the band and might stream to see if they like your music. I am sure you have already done that but just in case. Just thought of something, why not go to Every youtube reactor and request them do a reaction of a video of yours. Most creators do all types of music. Just ask in the comments section of their most recent video and keep asking until they do it. Don't tell them it is your band. That would get you more exposure. Sending good vibes your way!🫶

This music video is excellent. The Lover MV is also just…beautiful in terms of storytelling (especially if you watch the behind the scenes). One thing I didn’t notice for years about this MV, though… “You see me in hindsight” is a key line in the song, but at the end, SHE’S the one looking at him in the rearview mirror. She’s the one seeing him in hindsight. Seeing the whole relationship in hindsight. Somehow that and the specific words she chose to mouth during the video are the parts that really give me goosebumps. Also the part where you see the set and she mouths ‘just pretend’… Like… Incredible.

Your reaction made me appreciate this song, and especially the video, even more. I did not think she was only "dreaming" about being with him. I thought they were together while filming this movie, and she discovered he was married at the premiere. Now, I wonder if him running after her as she is leaving the premiere is just a fantasy too. The leading man is actor Scott Eastwood, Clint Eastwood's son. Scott said his Agents did not want him to do a music video. I'm so glad he ignored them.

Not sure if you take suggestions, but her performance of Dear John on the Speak Now tour just showcases that she has always been a performer. If you don't know, She dated John Mayer when she was 19 and he was 32. It was tumultuous. He tried suing her over the song, but she argued that Dear John is playing on the old Dear John letters women wrote to soldiers, and won. Yes, Taylor Swift did sit in front of a lion in the music video for her song “Wildest Dreams.” The video, directed by Joseph Kahn, is set in Africa in the 1950s and features Swift as a Hollywood actress who falls in love with her co-star1. The scene with the lion is one of the many visually striking moments in the video, which has a cinematic and nostalgic feel.

In the 1950s movies with the glam star, like an Ava Gardner type (dark hair) and some rugged leading man. They were in exotic places like Africa and it was usually a drama and love story. Alot of times the leading actress and actor have an affair in real life while filming the movie. This is loosely based on those. It even has that aura. Which is why it is so well done. Anyone with a working knowledge of movie history can spot this right away. I used to read alot about movie history years ago. 1910s - 1950s. golden age. Taylor nailed it.

9:11 I just learned last year that apparently this song and music video was inspired by the time she was on the movie set with Alexander Skarsgard for The Giver. Movie location was also in South Africa. Him and Taylor were seen on a public date during the filming. Her hair was dark brown as her character’s in the movie. He’s tall and handsome. They stayed in the same hotel during filming. And the ending part with the twist of the other lady is actually a nod to him and Katie Holmes, who played husband and wife in the movie, and their speculated fling that came out of the filming of the same movie. Forever I thought most of 1989 was just about Harry Styles and was so confused when she started out Wildest Dreams commenting on how tall he is when Harry was just a few inches taller than Taylor when they dated haha😂 When I learned of these new “coincidences” it blew my mind 🤯 ❤

They did film it in Africa but some elements were done with green screens such as Taylor sitting in front of the lion. There was apparently a big hubbub at the time because some people were claiming that the production did not use enough locals for the production. That wasn't on Taylor; they were more so attacking Joseph Kahn, the director. It took a while for that to smooth over. You should definitely check out her other videos directed by Kahn (8 total): Bad Blood, Blank Space, ...Ready For It?, Out of the Woods, Look What You Made Me Do. I think I got them all. She's worked with a couple of other directors and in the last few years she has been directing them herself. edit: The two I missed are End Game and Delicate; End Game was filmed in multiple locations and Delicate was filmed at a few spots in LA.

Taylor used film for her short film of “All Too Well.” Also, I read the story here a little differently than you did. I think they really were on location in Africa to make the movie. The scene near the end was just some post-production or perhaps publicity shots done in a studio. It's during this studio scene that we hear Taylor sing, “even if it's just pretend.”
